"Brilliant location with easy access to the forest. Anywhere you wanted to go, e.g. towns, villages, the coast was within a 15/20 min drive and there is a gorgeous pub, butchers and well equipped shop in the centre of sway that’s in walking distance. The house is comfy and well equipped but a few things let it down. The interior is VERY 70s and feels like you’re staying in an elderly relatives house. Wood chip on the walls, thin carpets, floral curtains, etc. The kitchen is immaculate except for the drainer where you put washing up and is a little bit stained. There is everything you need in there to make a meal from scratch and the cupboards and drawers really were very clean. Bathroom was nice with good shower but then the sealant around the bath was mildewy and the shower screen leaked every time we had a shower. Other than that though, immaculate. Bedrooms have comfy beds and loads of hanging space in the wardrobes ( with hangers) but again just a little thing, in the twin there weren’t any valences in the bottom of the beds and the duvets were small and so kept on falling off in the night. Lastly the carpets could do with a good clean and the walls a lick of paint but this really is me being picky. I think the 3 star rating and pics on the website showed me exactly what to expect. I think for the money paid, there could be some very minor improvements to really make the cottage worth the money. Overall though we did enjoy our stay. It was in a quiet residential area and there was a park around the corner for our daughter to play. The forest was beautiful and would recommend this cottage as a base to explore the area. It was well set up for dogs (we don’t have one) and as a none doggy family the rooms didn’t smell of dogs."

"Overall we had a nice weekend at Marley Mount as the location of the property was great, but really mainly due to good company and weather! Unfortunately there were a few things, that for the cost of the property, disappointed us. There were a number of things broken and having children in our party, this was quite worrying, especially the electrical items - a lamp in the children’s bedroom virtually falling apart which we unplugged as it looked dangerous and the kettle lid was broken which some of us came close to burning ourselves on. It is so easy and fairly inexpensive to go out and purchase a kettle, I cannot understand why something so simple was not rectified. There were nails sticking out in the garden, broken parasol and the downstairs shower leaks on the floor. We paid an awful lot of money for the weekend and although the initial overall general appearance of the property has the wow factor, when you live in it you realise it’s quite shabby and tired in places. Also, the pool must contain a rather high amount of chemicals as my daughters hair went green and a number of her acrylic nails came off! Be careful if you dye your hair!"

"This was our second stay at the house and we love its location, size and garden. The new forest ponies and cows at the gate make this a holiday you don’t forget. It’s quite pricey, but so are most cottages in the height of the summer holidays! There are things that don’t work in the house ie door handles, light bulbs and the kitchen smoke alarm is faulty. There are also small diy jobs which could be completed to make it worth the money ie switching of taps, filling blown plaster or render. However most of these were mentioned 2 years ago and the issues remain the same. These are just niggles and wouldn’t stop us booking again. Overall this is a great house and for us (4 adults and 2 children), it’s ideally located to spend time with extended family in the area."

"Pond cottage was fine for our extended family. What we were promised on the web site was there as expected. Simon met us and gave a good briefing about the cottage and the bits and pieces and local knowledge they have gleaned (look out for cat paws- he will tell you). Jenni's directions to the cottage were far more sensible (using local knowledge) were far more sensible than the country cottage web site who simply used google style directions and land you in 1 hour traffic jam at lyndhurst (to be avoided at all costs unless you want to go to the town. Only comment would be to come onto Sandy Down and immediate right into Hurstley lane before turning left into Lower Sandy Down to go to Pond Cottage"

"I was born in Salisbury, so the New Forest and its' coastline are areas of huge sentimental interest. I planned my 60th Birthday celebrations around inviting family and friends to somewhere we could all enjoy, with my two Yorkshire Terriers, in tow, too! "Conkers" looked the perfect choice and we were all amazed at the quality and range of facilities provided - beyond perfect in every way! The area is brilliant, Keith and Debbie own and manage a super holiday home and were totally attentive to everything we might need. Everyone who came along loved the place and I'm sure, will book it for themselves, in the future. I certainly would book it again - and the dogs agree with me, of course!!"
