"What a treasure. Holidaying with six dogs and mobility issues is never easy - cue Tegfan. This is a little slice of heaven for a break away from the norm. From the time you drive in and close the gate you are in a proper home complete with all the creature comforts.Positioned on a hill, the views are beautiful. The garden is big and fully enclosed and our dogs loved it. We were also lucky enough to be there when the apple tree was bearing fruit so had the added bonus of fresh cooking apples!Inside, the property is spacious and extremely well equipped, and the kitchen made cooking a lot easier with plenty of equipment, and although work space is limited, it still works very well.An excellent utility area not only allowed for us to come home without dirty laundry, but also provided a great space to feed all the dogs. The furniture is comfortable and plenty of it, so no arguments on who gets the ‘best’ seat! The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds are amazing. As a group we have never slept in such comfortable beds on holiday before. Two of our party have back issues and neither were aggravated during our two week stay. The linen is beautiful quality and the duvet and pillows clearly also excellent quality.A bathroom and walk in shower room provide for all abilities. To be fair it is a very easy place to write about hence the review! The owner, Alison, is a lovely lady and extremely efficient at responding to queries. Very obliging and the welcome gifts were superb. For those who have read previous reviews, yes you do have to drive along a country lane, but if you avoid the route direct into Crickhowell it is a lot easier. The route into Llangenny was our preferred option. There are passing points and the locals all seem very sensible driving down the road. Plus one of the local farmers sells eggs from a shed on this route! If you want a well maintained, well equipped property with superb outlook, and the option for exploration or solitude, then this is the place.Suffice it to say we rebooked for next year before we left! Thanks a million Alison."

"Beacons Rest is in a beautiful part of Wales with lovely landscape and scenery and plenty of walks right on the doorstep. The owners went over and above to welcome us to their property, which is an annex to their house, sited above their garage and accessed by some outside steps at the rear. This was fine for us but would not be very suitable for anyone with mobility problems, who struggles with stairs. On arrival we were given a freshly baked home made loaf which was really tasty. There was fresh milk, tea bags, etc in the room and everything was extremely clean. The bed was comfortable with lovely cotton sheets, there were beautiful thick towels, even the loo rolls and kitchen roll were of top quality. The room is a studio with a small 2 hob electric cooker and an all in one microwave/oven/grill, which we did use to cook with although cooking space was limited. Wifi signal was limited, however the owners could overcome this with an extender. Overall we had a lovely peaceful and tranquil few days at this property and would definitely recommend it."

"Delightful place - lovely people. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very warm and friendly welcome by the owners and their manager who gave us complete privacy but were only a phone call and a five minute drive away should we need anything. The accommodation is of excellent quality - our party of fifteen plus two toddlers occupied the four bedroomed farmhouse, the two bedroomed cottage and the four bedroomed barn conversion - and were able to dine together in comfort. The two hot tubs were very popular. The surrounding countryside is very beautiful and the delightful River Crai runs through the owners' land. Weather was mixed so on fine days we were able to take advantage of this being in the centre of outstanding walking country but when the Brecon Beacons rain persisted we had plenty of room to enjoy being together indoors and in the big play barn with its table tennis table. This was our 16th consecutive annual family get-together and we consider this accommodation to be the best yet."

"Beacon's Rest was good in every way - frendly and welcoming owners, good facilities, comfortable and with everything one would need during a stay. Kitchen facilities good - no oven but twin microwave/grill covered all types for cooking. Fridge freezer allowed food to be bought and kept or frozen until needed. The location was great for visiting places within the National Park and further afield - South Wales including Cardiff. Brecon itself is right on the doorstep with ample car parking and three supermarkets. Location itself on the edge of the river on a 'no through road' meant it was extremely quiet and peaceful. TV worked fine - during my stay the Olympics were on and I was able to watch all I wanted. I would certainly recommend Beacon's Rest to anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing break amidst lovely scenery."

"It would be a lovely holiday home in the summer and we felt very welcomed by the owner but it was very cold inside the house. The radiators and hot water ran off the log burner which meant you had to light it and check it every 30 minutes. Even when it was blasting it still did not heat the front room to a cosey temperature. We then had to use the plug in electric heaters which would of been fine but we had to pay for the electric as we used it putting pound coins in the metre which cost a good £6+ a day. If the electric was included I would return but unfortunately it lead to a holiday constantly worrying about whether we had change and how we was going to heat the home. Not the luxury cottage stay I was hoping for unfortunately."
