"Had a great mid week break with friends plus a 4 legged friend, good central location ideal for local shops great bakery and some independent shops for gifts. The Blacks Head pub was very welcoming to both human and dogs, just a note does not service hot food but does have bar snacks. The Red Loin is again dog friendly and does serve hot food. We completed the Wirkworth Circular walk which was challenging in places ( up hill) but the views where well worth the effort. Another walk was the circular walk around the Derwent Reservoir, a 10 minute drive away. It is 8 miles round on well maintained pathways and signage, there is a coffee shop in the main visitor centre, water sports centre and a children's playground. Another activity was Clay Pigeon Shooting Experience at the Doveridge Clay Sports approx 40 minutes away. Enjoyed by all and well organised and good instruction. The parking is pay and display by cash or card. The main street has take away food and eat in, also there is a co-op with in 5 minutes walk, turn left towards the railway bridge from the main street. Although the cornor shop was well stocked and good on prive The kitchen is well equip with down stairs dining. Some advice regarding the parking outside the Coach house, the owner kindly sent a photo of where to park the car, as the garage does not belong to the property, so need to ensure access. It was not possible to park the car outside the property as it was larger than a small hatchback. This was not an issue thought as obtained a 3 day 'Rover' pass for £8 or £15 for 7 days. This allows you to park in any Derbyshire County Council owned Public Car Park, and can be obtained online prior to your visit ( as posted) or at Matlock Council Building. There a a car park approx 200m away from the property and we had no problems getting a space.Overall a great central location for walks and visiting the surrounding area, would highly recommend."

"We stayed at the coach house for a weekend in March and had a great time. The property is clean, cosy and comfortable. The parking permit which was provided was really helpful as we found parking on the driveway was quite tricky so it was great we could use the car park just across the road. If you have a small car you'll have no problem using the driveway. Wirksworth is a lovely little village and well worth a wander round. There's a big co op just up the road, a fish n chip shop , take away and a couple of pubs. The only downside for us was the outside seating area. I personally wouldn't call it that, the space is tiny right at the side of the property I certainly wouldn't want to sit out there as it's a bit too narrow and there's nothing to look at. If your taking your 4 legged friend then there are lots of walks available to you. There's a very handy area just around the corner too."

"stunning cottage great location, parking is an issue we have a small car (mini) which we pulled right up to the bedroom window yet the neighbour still came out and asked us to move it so he could get his fiat 500 passed, even though earlier in the day we had managed to pull our other car on the drive to unload, we found it quite comical that the neighbour struggled to get the smallest car in the world passed ours!! The location is excellent pretty much centre of town but far enough away to be quite and hidden, the photos of this place just don’t do it justice it is really stunning, has everything you could need, the beds are super comfy and the kitchen is well equipped, I came here to celebrate my birthday and on arrival found cakes and candles!!! I would recommend this place to anyone and cant wait to stay again!!!"

"Nice clean cosy cottage in a good location, very easy to reach National Trust, Mills and the Tram Museum as well as Matlock Bath and Matlock, nice walk uphill to the heights above Middleton with beautiful views with an information centre and cafe. Owners who lived next door were very friendly and helpful as were the other neighbours. Had a bit of a ride though to get provisions. Although back garden was as described it was difficult to access and we did not bother after the first day. The dog had to be taken a walk in local area but open area and small park very close to front of property. Big plus point was the Pub next door, parking is difficult for the cottage but okay for a small car. We were fortunate that the property adjacent was not in use and we were able to use their bay."

"The cottage has all the makings of a great holiday, unfortunately it needs a little more to make it more comfortable. It isn't really dog friendly as your pet is not allowed in the main living area. We were not impressed at having a pile of the last occupants rubbish left piled next to the front door, the parking space is for a Smart car only and the furniture was sparse. It would have been better if small touches like a bread knife and bedside tables with lamps were provided. There were 2 double beds, not a double and twins, the shower attachment was useless without a curtain and the kitchen was rather grubby in places. We were comfortable but we ate out and I would change the cottage details to make it clear as to what you are getting."
