"Cleeton Barn Gate is a comfortable cottage closely located to Ludlow and the Welsh Marches. The cottage is spacious and well equipped, as with any rural property the WiFi signal is poor and can be intermittent, but the owners will try to resolve any problems. There is a cattle grid outside the bedroom window, we got used to it very quickly but it may disturb light sleepers. The owners have two sheepdogs, who are friendly (and enjoy playing fetch, if you have the time) and the owners are happy to let your own dog run around the larger grounds of the property, which was very useful. The cottage is situated on the edge of moorland and there are a lot a sheep loose in the area, which should be borne in mind if you have a dog, who likes to chase & play. The property has an enclosed but not secure garden. A 3 foot wall and picket fence surround the garden, which was fine for our dog, but a larger dog or one that is quite agile and enjoys exploring, would be able to get out quite easily. I would recommend this property for anyone looking for a break in the area. It is well located for Ludlow/Kidderminster and beyond. Although co-located with the owners property, it does feel private and they are keen to help with any issues you have without being intrusive."

"Excellent house with plenty of room for our group of 23. We especially liked the amount of crockery and kitchen equipment and the two dishwashers which made cooking for 23 for whole week easy. We also loved the view of the gardens from the many windows. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and we felt he was on hand if we had had any issues, without being obtrusive. We had no issues with hot water for showers (sometimes an issue in a larger group) and the furniture and fittings were good quality and plentiful. A couple of small issues that may be worth mentioning: we were lucky with the weather and so made the most of local walks such as Wyre Forest and Clee Hill, however we felt that if the weather had been poor, we may have struggled to find things to do in the location. Other small niggles were that a few of us found the beds a bit on the soft side and that it was a bit difficult to get all the rooms to a good temperature - a difficult issue with such a large property - where if we set the thermostats to suit the colder rooms, the smaller rooms were boiling hot. None of these things were major issues for us and the positives of Sporting Heights massively outweighed them. We would highly recommend this place."

"Our family of 16 adults and 5 children stayed here for a week at Easter. The house was fantastic with more than enough space, seating, utensils and equipment for us all. When we arrived the owner had very kindly baked us 2 cakes and some scones as well! Some of us spent some time walking and fishing round the lakes, day trips into local towns, walks in Clows Top, Wyre forest, West Midlands safari and visiting the Ironbridge museums. There was lots to do if you can all drive to various places. The farm is quiet and peaceful, which does mean there’s not much very close by. There was a small Londis 10 minutes drive away however. We were well cared for and hosted at Sporting Heights. Rob was on hand if needed but also respected our privacy and let us know when he planned to pop in (he very kindly emptied the bins for us!). He even showed us round the farm and animals they kept, which the kids loved. All in all this is a great family holiday spot and would definitely recommend. Thank you to Rob & co at Clay Farm Partnership - you were great hosts!"

"This is a charming cottage with a lovely secluded location and great secure garden for our dog. It's perfectly located for walking in the Shropshire Hills and served as an excellent base for our trip. We didn't mind the absence of electricity and running water in the cottage. Hot and cold water taps were just a few steps outside and the decidedly unVictorian outside bathroom was well appointed. Cooking on the range took a little getting used to but just meant that meals took a little longer to prepare. The thermos we brought to take on walks was filled with hot water each night so we could have hot tea in the morning without lighting the range and a head torch for washing up and night time toilet trips was also a big help. The only area we found the cottage lacking was comfort. Whilst the double bed was comfortable enough, the single beds were not and there was only one vaguely comfortable chair in the house. Clearly Victorians weren't ones for sitting down. Other than that, it's a lovely cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

"We were greeted and welcomed and shown around. The cottage is next door to where the owners live, which helps if there is a problem or you need information. This is not a working farm.Access to the cottage from the main road is via an unmade potholed track. The layout inside is a bit curious, but we found it OK. The galley kitchen can be a bit of a scrum if more than one person is in there as it is also the passage to both bedrooms. One bedroom has an on-suite but the other bedroom has a bathroom accessed through the kitchen. We found this shower tended to be a bit cool. Weirdly this one is electric but the other one was off the mains and worked very well. One thing that needs to be realised is that entering the cottage is via a step which is quite high and someone with mobility issues may find this a problem. Overall it was comfortable and worked well for the four of us."
