"A good week - excellent weather helped. We spent most of our leisure time in the conservatory. The main living room was dark and the settees were very uncomfortable. It was a shame there was no tv in the conservatory. Luckily I am tall as my wife and our friend could not reach any of the items in the kitchen top cupboards. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable. The shower was excellent. I was a bit surprised that there was nothing left from the previous people. Every cottage we have stayed in before always has some food or mild left behind. Luckily we arrived mid-afternoon so was able to go to ASDA in Berwick. Easy to get to anywhere in the county with the A1 not far away. I parked at the back of the cottage when we arrived and hit a stone that was difficult to see on the way out. Hence I parked at the front after that. A £340 bill for the scratch put a bit of a dampener on the week. I put a note in the book to let other holidaymakers know about the stone. The pub was OK but none of the villagers would speak to us ‘outsiders’. Other than those points, it was a good holiday. We will return to Northumberland or the Borders, but not to that particular cottage."

"Lovely house, only seconds walk from a dog-friendly beach. We would have liked some information about the house in the information pack - there were lots of brochures and bits of information about the area but nothing regarding the house - no appliance instructions, nothing to say what time to check out, nothing to explain what the parking disk was for (we didn't bring it with us on our first trip out because we had no idea what it was for so that meant not being able to park in the disk zone). Wifi had Facebook restricted for some reason so that was a bit disappointing but otherwise it worked well (an honesty box with suggested donation was provided for the Wifi, which we didn't mind even though it would have been better to include it in the overall cost as most people will likely make use of it). The house is great and there are sea views from two of the bedrooms in addition to the top floor living room (lots of stairs to keep you fit but not really suitable for anyone who has problems climbing stairs). A beautiful area to explore and a fabulous house to explore it from."

"We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cuthberts. The views were amazing, being able to watch the changes in the weather and the sea during the day, the different colours of the sea. The cottage had everything we needed, the fridge needed replacing whilst we were there but to no inconvenience to ourselves. The kitchen was well equipped, a nice knife sharpener would come in handy but otherwise everything you needed was available. The cottage was spotless when we arrived and the well appointed bathrooms were all we needed. With the family bathroom and the en-suite being well equipped with a shower that covered all areas! We didn't have the weather to take advantage of the courtyard but it had a lovely table to sit out and enjoy a small bbq. The car port was useful to be able to decamp from the car at the end of the day and get ready to enter the house.Thank you for letting us share and enjoy Cuthberts during our holiday in April 2018."

"The house was really spacious, good for a family stay. Location is ok, enjoyed Alnwick and Newcastle, not much to do in the Berwick upon tweed/spittal area. Nice if your looking for a quiet getaway. On arrival we were given a bouquet of cupcakes which was a nice gesture. It says wifi is free but they ask for £5 a week for using it. Not a big deal but It didn't work at all when we were there. On the day of arrival we were told don't rush away, as the next people to stay were arriving 5 days later. We were eating breakfast and hadn't packed to leave and there was a knock at the door, the cleaners had arrived. We were then told to leave the property within 15 minutes. I was not happy with the attitude of them, very rude,It spoiled the end of a good stay. So we had to rush. I personally wouldn't stay here again, but recommend it for others. The property was value for money for the time of year."

"Our holiday at the Toll House in Berwick-upon-Tweed was for a week at the start of September 2018. Retired couple plus dog. We found the place very clean and comfortable. We knew beforehand that it was by a main road, compact and did not have a dishwasher nor tumble dryer. However it was well equipped and many consumables had been provided, including several bottles of wine. Being about 160 yards from the railway station and near the town worked well for our leave-the-car-at-home holiday. The bed was extremely comfortable, which was a key feature, so often lacking in many expensive properties. An ALDI was very useful at ten minutes walk. Various bus routes pass the property. The Toll House worked really well and we had a very enjoyable week."
