What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages With Open Fires In Bellingham To Rent.
- Mr Lord, July 2018 - verified booking
"The cottage was beautifully appointed, comfortable and felt immediately very welcoming (there were also teas, coffee, milk, cake and a bottle of fizz awaiting us on arrival) with everything we needed for the three of us to have a very relaxing holiday. The garden was interesting to explore, on several levels, with it's own bridge over a disused railway leading from the back garden to a little wooded area, places to sit and admire the views from the front garden, and you could walk in the adjacent fields from the cottage and across the road down to the river. The owners left great information about the local area, saying that they lived just a short distance away if we needed anything, which we didn't as from our point of view they had pretty much thought of everything! The village just a mile away was very convenient for shopping with a small supermarket, bakers, cafes, takeaway etc and the location we found to be generally excellent as a base to explore, with plenty to do within easy reach - we would certainly like to return, both to the area and the cottage."

"Northumberland is really a lovely county, excellent location for touring around the area and the locals were very friendly. Lots to see, walking and fantastic views. The cottage was not the cleanest property we have stayed in and really needs soon refurbishment and investment in new cooker, which was rusty and dirty, kitchen units, covered in grime, windows needed replacing, windows broken. Bathroom toilet was not securely seated in position, but the worst was the visit every night by slugs in the kitchen. Despite evicting these beasties, sometimes 3 per night, the next night more would make an appearance. Crawling over the kitchen equipment, in the cupboards, over the floors, in the dogs water and food bowls. You could visibly see slug trails, on the floors and carpets. We washed everything before using and kept cooking etc to the nearest minimum. We are nature lovers but this was a bit too close for comfort. Regardless to say sleeping was a problem, as your mind wondered where the slugs would crawl during the night."

"This is a very clean and comfortable, well equipped self catering cottage. Situated in an idyllic secluded location in Northumberland. Not a town or shop for miles around and yet everything we wanted, right on the doorstop. Lots of beautiful, unspoilt scenery, lovely walks, very few people and they were very friendly. A village pub less than 5 minutes walk for some wonderful evening meals. An excellent selection of single malt whiskies to round off the meal. Old Pulteney, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bunnahabhain, Tamnavulin to name but a few. The bird of prey centre is well worth a visit. The walk around Kielder water has some interesting sculptures. Hareshaw Linn Falls is a pleasant walk. The cottage owners were exceedingly friendly and welcoming and always on hand if anything were needed. For dark skies and star gazing, avoid the summer months, it doesn't get dark in mid June. This is a wonderful cottage owned by lovely people in a fabulous part of the country."

"We were looking forward to a relaxing holiday after a difficult year. The property was dirty, with problems with the electrics, equipment not adequate for 6 people. The kitchen is small with not enough equipment to cook a meal for 6.The loft room still hasn't got a blind to the vellux window (its a big one right over the bed) so the sun wakes you up at 4 am in the summer. All the bedroom window covers are inadequate to keep out the early morning summer sun. The Washing machine was out of order. The shower over the bath is a hose type shower from the bath taps, very difficult to use either hot or cold not in between!Sky TV means box with no card, DVD had not got the leads to the TV.The light in the living room has the bulb missing, 2 sockets were broken or just not working. We spent most of our holiday outside of the cottage in the lovely countryside and ate every main meal out."

"Our stay at Workshop Cottage was superb. For the past few years we have been holidaying in Northumberland with our dogs and stayed in a fair few cottages. This has to be one of the best. Lovely views, close to many attractions, two good pubs on the doorstep and secure garden area for the dogs. The cottage offers all the amenities of home including a washer, dryer, dishwasher and the all important hair dryer! The beds are very comfortable and firm which I need for my back, lots of storage space. Bathroom has been well thought out, large bath and separate shower area. Love the decor of the whole place! The owner Mel is very friendly, welcoming and has good local knowledge for any walks away from Kielder Water and Forest Park. We absolutely loved the Kielder area and with so much more to explore, we are coming back next year and hopefully be staying in Workshop Cottage."
