"A lovely week spent with friends in an even lovelier cottage. Glen Garth is a really nice , we'll equipped cosy cottage. On arrival we were greeted by the owners niece who was extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen , dining room , gorgeous cosy lounge and three good size bedrooms, with comfy beds and crisp white bedding The garden has far reaching views across the valley. It's in such a quiet peaceful area it was lovely to sit out in the sun and enjoy the views. We even sat out one night to do some star gazing. The owner of the cottage Judith called down a couple of times to check we were all okay , she also gave us tips and ideas on where to visit and where to go to eat and drink. We had some great chats but this was not intrusive at all. There are a number of great walks minutes away from the cottage we walked to poltress burn milecastle , we also did a seven mile circular walk to Birdoswald Roman fort then walked back along Hadrian's walk back to Glen Garth. We would definitely stay again . Fantastic place in a beautiful setting ,if you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday this is the place for you. Corbridge and Hexham nearby are lovely , Hexham old town jail and Hexham Abbey are well worth a visit . Thankyou , from the girls from Leeds ."

"We had a lovely new year at Wild Goose Cottage. 3 out of the 4 bedrooms are plenty large enough for travel cots and the beds were comfortable. The best area is the kitchen diner, very modern and plenty of room for 8 adults and 3 babies at the table. there's plenty of crockery, pots and pans and utensils. A very well stocked kitchen however only one oven shelf made it very difficult to cook for everyone so the owners could perhaps invest in another shelf to make this a lot easier for large groups to cook meals to enjoy at the cottage. It was great to have the utility area and downstairs toilet plus extra shower. The area was lovely. Very quiet, few nice pubs, cafes and shops. The living room was cosy and nice garden and balconies for use in better weather. The sofas are probably past their shelf life but other than that a nice space. There's a small unloading area outside the cottage but then you have to park your car in the town free car park. Not a major issue unless everyone arrives at once but something to mention as it's not on the spec. All in all we had a lovely time thank you."

"A perfect location only a minute away from local facilities. The warmest house we've ever stayed in: the range and fire made for cosy evenings and we really appreciated the heating being on when we arrived on a cold day. The house was spotlessly clean and well resourced but with having a 2 year old, we thought the house would benefit from a stair gate due to the narrow wooden stairs (which she was typically attracted to!!) but our 4 year old negotiated them no problem. Parking wasn't a problem as we were able to unload/load the car outside of the house and easily found free parking in the market square every day, which is only a minute's walk away. The area was very dog friendly and were able to take our dog into the High Top Cafe for treats with us. Also, it was very convenient having the Co-op a stone's throw from the house as it meant we could pick up any bits we needed. Really enjoyed our first trip to the area and Gilmore House and hope to return again."

"This cottage is very well equipped. Very cosy. Excellent location although parking was an issue a few of the days. The downstairs needs a little updating but nothing major and did not hinder our stay at all. We definitely would stay again. The only issue we had is that we turned up at 3:10pm and were asked to return 90 minutes later because it wasn’t ready. A little displeasing after driving 4 hours. When we did arrive back there was only 1 large towel between 3 of us with hand towels and a note to say they would fetch more the following day. They did fetch some that evening when requested but they were old ones. The care taker may need to be reviewed. That’s our reason for the overall score. The cottage itself is lovely and we would recommend with the advice of updating the fixtures and fittings and addressing the damp in the bathroom."

"A very well furnished and equipped holiday home. The only issues I have is that there is no access to the outside of the premises at the back. Windows do not open fully and I imagine it could be very hot in summer. Also, there is no washing machine although the managing agent will arrange to have any laundry washed, dried and returned folded. Be careful of the radiator in the master bedroom. It is too near the bed and the fins on the bottom of the radiator are extremely sharp. The house is very well located with parking provided about 300 yards away in Abbey grounds although it was not always possible to find a space. However there is a public car park opposite with disc and free parking. Traffic noise is not a major issue despite the house being on a main road. Iwould stay again."
