What our customers are saying about our Beach Cottages In Allerdale District To Rent.
- Mr Allcock, August 2018 - verified booking
"The bedrooms are all large and have en-suite bathrooms and, in addition, there is a large family bathroom with a spa bath. The kitchen has all that you need to self cater and there is also plenty of fridge/freezer space. The utility has a washer and drier plus a separate downstairs WC. There are three reception rooms to allow for space if needed - two of them have TV/video provided. In addition, there is a wi-fi link available. There is lots of space to park cars off-road to the rear of the house. It is in a great location and has superb views across the Solway Firth. There are two excellent pub/bistro in the village with menus that cater for all tastes. The information from the owner was excellent with plenty of detail making it easy to find and access the property. The down-side is that there are lots of irritating issues that have not been addressed despite being listed in the house maintenance book over a significant period of months such as lots of light bulbs needing replacement; fridge seal damaged and allowing the fridge to leak; the drier works but is exceptionally noisy and needs attention; the Jack & Jill bathroom shower needs attention; there is no 'pole' to open the Velux windows in the annex bedroom; the main dining table can only accommodate eight people although the house can accommodate more; there is insufficient garden furniture for all occupants (the large picnic table is wooden and damaged) and there are no patio umbrellas available (the large one at the property is broken and dumped at the rear of the house). It may seem churlish to make note of these 'little' problems when we have had such an excellent holiday but, if you are paying a premium price for what is advertised as a luxury and premium property, you expect these issues to be addressed and not left untended for months and months. It might be that, having put the property up for sale, that the owners no longer care about their holiday renters??"

"What a wonderful cottage in a beautiful and tranquil setting. It has been lovingly restored with close attention to detail, maintaining the original character but with quality furnishings.Ann and Martin have thought of everything from a choice of pillows to a luxury kitchen. The cottage was warm and inviting, a lovely place to relax after a day's walking or sightseeing. The delicious welcome pack was the best that we have had in many years of self catering. Ann and Martin were the perfect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful when we had some health problems part way through our stay. We found that Tallentire was a great base from which to explore the Western Lakes with easy access to the quaint local towns and stunning fells."

"When we arrived, we found the property clean and as listed. It provides lots of space and the best sunsets we have seen for a while but is rather let down by some management issues. The major problem we had was that one afternoon we ran out of Calor Gas for cooking. The spare one was also empty. The 'local contact' was away on holiday and it took until the next day, during which time we were not kept informed, and a phone call to the owner, to arrange a replacement. There were other issues - the heating system probably needs bleeding, as some radiators never got properly hot. The vacuum cleaner is not working well. One of the showers is not adequate and the people with that bedroom used someone else's bathroom for showers."

"A good little cottage with all the basics required for a stay. Some of the eclectic furniture is a little passed its best, but the cottage overall is very clean, tidy, warm and welcoming. Lashings of hot water which is just what you need after a hard day walking. Excellent location just outside Cockermouth - able to access all areas with relative ease. Owners friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Very friendly cat!(I like cats). Overall I really enjoyed my stay, would certainly come back again and recommend to others. Perhaps needs a little TLC now to keep up the standard, some of the furniture is passed its best and just those extra touches would move it into the excellent bracket. March 2011."

"There was a welcome pack of fresh local produce left for us on arrival and the owner was there to greet us. The cottage was clean, spacious and well equipped. The village is very friendly with an even friendlier pub. Although we were only using the cottage as a base for hill walking and other touristy things it was nice to have somewhere to come back too to relax. The pub was a good source of local tourist information as was the owner who had made a folder of interesting places to visit. We would happily stay there again. We had a great holiday in a great cottage in a great village with a great pub."
