"My husband and I love to travel, and we some times crave a different kind of luxury than a 5-start hotel. This year we decided to visit La Capelle et Masmolene Have you ever watched a movie and thought to yourself “could this place be real”? If you ever wondered about a romance of a small village in the heart of France where everyone knows one another and life slows down in a storybook setting, La Maison du Sud is where you should go. I can still feel the breeze in the small terrace off the kitchen, French music playing in the background as I am cutting the fresh baguette delivered by the local bakery every morning. Yes, the bakery leaves the bread in a bag behind your door. I still can’t believe the beauty in this house at every corner. From the antique island in the kitchen, the copper pots hanging on the wall, the bench under it with the Provencal basket sitting on top , to the unique master suite, it screamed romance, elegance, and history. I thought to myself writing a simple review wouldn’t do justice to this magical house, the village and its surroundings, so I need to tell you about the feel of this place. Yes it is clean, yes it is comfortable, yes it has WIFI and all the conveniences we all need and are uses to, but it has something much more, it has a heart. When you walk through the house you feel the love and attention that gives the house its soul. Every room tells a story, every time I would go back to reality the house would pull me back to a simpler and more beautiful time. This time I wasn’t watching the movie, I was in it. The master suite took my breath away every time I walked in: the headboard, the open shower in the middle of the room, the sink carved out of a peace of rock, the curtains flowing with the breeze, every piece of furniture so unexpected and yet it fit the purpose perfectly. All the modern conveniences are there but they are so smartly hidden as to not disturb the peace. Each room is designed uniquely and differently than the next and yet there is harmony you can touch. The small pool on a hot day is perfect. The white hydrangeas of the provincial garden smile at you every morning. From the windows in the master bedroom you see the rooftops of the village that blends in with the vineyard in the background. The view on the left pulls you to pages of a storybook; church bells, the small square of the village and the beautiful castle backdrop let you sink deep in your own little fairytale. Every item and every part of the house pays homage to the love the owner has felt for her house. You just want to be a part of it and buy into the love. Let’s not forget your kind and smiley neighbors, every late afternoon or as soon as it cools down ladies of the village come together in front of one of their beautiful stone houses to celebrate another day gone by; I giggled inside every time. Do I think you should stay at La Maison du Sud? If you want an authentic experience with a dust of magic, ABSOLUTELY YES!"

"We were a family of 14 from Denmark and Australia meeting for a week’s family reunion holiday and Chateau Gaillac more than met our expectations. We felt very spoilt. The chateau is absolutely beautiful and well kept. Built around 1860-70s it has so much character and the photos are a true representation of both the size of the rooms and the way they look. Beds were comfortable and there were 10 gorgeous large bedrooms most with 3 beds. 7 upstairs and 3 downstairs - and more than enough bathrooms and toilets. The lounge room, dining room and kitchen and upstairs foyer were also great for relaxation. Marie looked after us from the very beginning with a tour around the house. She was available to help with any issues. When she is away, there is a lady next door who comes to clean the pool and help with any issues or her son also came to fix the TV one day. Bed linen, plenty of bath towels and pool towels and toilet paper was all supplied to us for the week. There were even some spare swimmers in case needed. The pool was delightful and looks exactly like the photos. There were lots of pool toys for the kids and we left some too. The best part was the kitchen and the outdoor table. We had a young boy who couldn’t swim so it was important that we could see him in the pool while we dined. The kids were in the pool all night and we loved sitting at the outdoor table eating and enjoying a glass of wine watching the kids play in the pool. Marie even supplied some nice wine to start with. The house had 2 rooms with air conditioning the rest had fans. However, we closed the shutters during the hot days and opened them early in the morning and that kept the house cool. The location was great. However, we had such a good time at the chateau we only made it to Albi and Gaillac. We would recommend a trip to Albi to see the big red brick church - it is incredible. There are plenty of vineyards around too that offer daily wine tasting and we found some lovely local wines. The house has a number of bicycles of which 5 of them were in good condition and we went on a few tours through the vineyards. There is also a BBQ outdoor that we used a few times. All up we all felt the Chateau was perfect. We had such a lovely time and would strongly recommend this for any family or larger group gathering. There is plenty room for everyone to relax and enjoy."

"We were a party of 13 adults and 6 children, 4 under 18ths old. We arrived early and although Marie and her staff were busy preparing they made us very welcome. The chateau is large and spacious. Very French, as we wanted, but with all modern conveniences and a large kitchen. The chateau was very clean the bathrooms nice, hairdryers are provided. It is located within a 30min walk along country roads of the outskirts of Gaillac, a town with many restaurants including one with a Michelin star. It is in the heart of wine country. Marie the owner was extremely helpful. Wine and fresh local produce was a nice welcome gift. The pool area was well above our expectations, the pool was cleaned regularly. We ate breakfast and our evening meal on the veranda overlooking the pool, fantastic. Bikes were available which we used. We didn't hire cars, but would advise that people do if they want more than relaxing by the pool. Taxi to the town is quite expensive considering the distance (4 miles max for £12). Chateau to Airport 250.00 Euros thanks to Marie who struck a bargain on our behalf. The chateau enables you to have a BBQ with plastic plates or a 5 course diner with china on a long banquet table under a large chandelier. We very much enjoyed our stay and the family were disappointed that they were to return home. We would recommend that to enhance the stay of people at the chateau the bathroom towels are upgraded. We thank Marie and the staff for our stay at Chateau Gaillac"

"On the edge of a large housing estate this property was surprisingly quiet & a lovely place to stay. As the owners house is above the property I think we were lucky they were away for the week ensuring we had a greater level of privacy & quiet than might perhaps be the normal case. The property was fine but on arrival there is some incomplete work at the front of the house, also an area of decking on the lower level where work is ongoing - I think these need to be finished off as soon as possible. A very minor critism is that one had to go into the bedroom to get a decent Wi-Fi signal, it barely worked for me in the lounge. Two of our party have very basic Sky packages but this property had far fewer channels (or we failed to find them). However, picture quality was excellent on the terrestial channels & the few others we found. This was fine for us but as there has been a previous negative review relating to Sky perhaps the expectations need to be set a little lower by making it clear which Sky channels are available. We enjoyed our stay, bedrooms, bathrooms & kitchen were excellent, we found the lounge a little cramped but the hot tub was excellent as was the various garden spaces."

"The place was very clean, but there was things that ruined it for me. They are as followZip and link bed was uncomfortable and had feather quilt and pillows, which with asthma is a no no.Hot tub stank of stale water and there was no smell of chlorine, which is strange.Every morning at 7am it sounded like an elephant was upstairs stomping around, had no lie in on holiday as this just woke you up and kept you up.In the kitchen you have all the equipment to bake a cake, but no oven trays. There are different settee's in the place to the pictures, and if there is 4 of you it is very compact. They are uncomfortable and very small. You are in a residential estate and are a very long walk away from shops or pubs, need a car.But the place was clean, you were provided with towels and everything you need to start your holiday. The owners were friendly and kept away all of the holiday, so you cannot complain about that. But despite my complaints we still had a good holiday, so it is not all bad. Just a few things annoyed us."
