"We very much enjoyed our stay at Halcyon which we found to be very well equipped, clean and with very comfortable beds. Some of the bedroom wardrobes were rather 'tired' and possibly due for replacement soon, but were clean and with a better supply of hangers than we have sometimes found in other properties. The rather heavy weight duvets we found too warm and it would be nice if more summer weight ones were provided. This of course is purely a personal preference. A welcome pack on arrival provided milk, tea and coffee and a pack of Welsh Cakes. We had a power supply problem with the electric shower in the en-suite bathroom while we were there, but the owner on being contacted got straight on to it and a visit from an electrician while we were out sorted it satisfactorily. A very large enclosed garden suitable for children to play in and a paved patio area if you choose to sit outside for meals. Ample off road car parking space.Well positioned just far enough out of the main village to avoid crowds such as we saw on Lifeboat Day (recommended though it only happens once a year of course) yet within easy walking distance of the village. Only a couple of minutes walk to a small food shop and even closer to a good fish and chip shop. Easy access by car back to Benllech where there are three small but well stocked supermarkets to choose from and nowhere is very far away on Anglesey.Well positioned on a beautiful bit of the island, easy access to the coastal path and some lovely beaches, I would be happy to recommend this property."

"This cottage is well located and is spacious, but unfortunately we felt that it had not been well maintained. It was damp throughout with a lingering damp smell and there were slug trails on the carpets downstairs with new slug trails each morning. We informed the owners on the first day of our 14 days stay, but they did not address the problem or clean the carpets during our stay. There were old cobwebs throughout and some rubbish from previous occupants in the house and garden. When we spoke to the owner, she indicated that the cobwebs and slugs were normal and to be expected, we disagree! There were several other problems throughout our stay including a bedroom door which would not shut and the ensuite shower which stopped working. (We see from previous reviews that this is a recurrent problem, but this was quickly repaired during our stay unlike the other issues.) When we raised the various issues with the owner, her attitude was dismissive and unhelpful. We had to follow up every day and the issues (apart from the slugs) were only finally rectified late into the second week of of our two week holiday. Overall we do not consider that Halcyon was good value for money and was not at the standard we have experienced previously from accommodation at the same grade. It was a shame to have this ongoing annoyance as Anglesey is a beautiful island. Despite the the problems with the accommodation, we did have a good holiday."

"24hrs before our holiday was to commence, we were contacted to say that the oven was broken and they had placed a temporary oven in the kitchen as a replacement. We were given the option to cancel, but at such a late stage and with a party of nine, we felt we had no option but to continue.Arriving at the property, it is in a great position, lovely sized rooms and clean. Outside at the rear of the property can best be described as totally neglected, over grown and nothing like the photograph in the advert. The kitchen is a disappointment and the ‘temporary ‘ oven was the size of a small microwave, not what is expected in a self catering property which has a capacity of 10+. Looking at the over would suggest that it had been there for some time as it showed signs of use. The existing ‘range’ cooker was not particularly clean and only the hob worked, sort of. Ovens are available next day from many online outlets, why it was not replaced is a mystery.Overall a nice size house, outside the garden was so overgrown it was unusable and the kitchen is a problem for anyone who wants to cook for more than two."

"The pictures of this cottage do not do it justice!! It’s absolutely gorgeous!! The owner of this cottage has really taken pride in making it luxurious with no expense spared! On arrival we found a table of apples, crisps, biscuits and chocolate. Also fresh milk in the fridge and plenty of tea and coffee! Just what we needed after a 6 hour drive! The cottage was easy to find, located near a petrol station and costcutter. Bangor is 11 minutes away and we went here to the massive Tesco extra to stock up on food for the week. Close by we visited greenwood forest park only 6 mins drive, we went aber falls which is a beautiful walk to the most beautiful waterfall. We also visited the village of Betws-y-coed where we ate in a yummy pizza place, also visited Beddgelert which has a lovely walk along the river. We have stayed in a few cottages in the UK and this one was by far the best. After a day exploring we would be so excited to return to this cottage, lovely and cosy and warm! We were sad to leave!!"

"It's location in Betws-y-Coed is in the centre of Snowdonia. If you are a big party of adults, this place would be ideal. It has plenty of space inside both in the kitchen/diner and sitting room. Bedrooms are a good size. Having the shower room in the entrance porch is not good. The washer dryer needs replacing, as the door catch doesn't open properly. The housekeeper's comment "yes, it does that" isn't helpful. The problem with this house is the shared drive way with the gallery next-door (including their carpark) and the lack of an enclosed garden. We had dogs and children. All and sundry wandered into the garden to view the river. We even had a family picnicking on the lawn when we returned one day. The locals use the carpark like they own it; barging into the through the closed gate to park, yes literally. btw the gate does not close properly, there is a gap. So adults fine if you don't mind people wandering through your washing, but families and people with dogs no."
