"Another fantastic week at The Shippen! This was about the fifteenth year that we’ve been going there and it never fails to completely delight! It’s beautiful accommodation in a wonderfully peaceful countryside location but only a short but beautiful drive from the glorious 5own of Bude. The hosts, Pam and Andrew can’t do enough to make your stay a perfect one and the cream tea that they provide soon after arrival is a great way to start to relax. Each year they seem to have done yet more things to continually improve the accommodation. With games, books and satellite and a log burning fire if you need it tv there is everything there to help you enjoy the evenings after wonderful walks in the countryside or along the cliff tops. We can’t wait to return for another visit later this year!"

"This place is in a stunning location, the bush inn nearby serves great food in a friendly atmosphere. Very cosy.As well as the award winning rectory farm tea rooms nearby, I would reccomend a visit there. The views from the hideaway really are lovely, especially from the bath.I would only reccomend that it is given some tlc and a new bed, unfortunately we barely slept due to the noise of the bed every time one of you turned over, one of the springs would go and the metal bed would make a loud noise. We also had to defrost the freezer as it was iced up so much the door wouldn't close (also broken)You may struggle for space with two larger dogs. We had two shih tzus."

"There was everything in the home needed for cooking, cleaning and entertaining in an evening. Even soft toys for the youngest to play with. Emailed the owner with a slight issue on the second morning and she came round to fix said issue later that same day. As a two metre tall male, I had a small issue with the double beds footboard but that didn't effect anything of our stay. If it is still listed the next time we want to stay in Bude, then we will definitely book it againThere was plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 children. Lovely location just a short stroll into Bude and a ten minute walk to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay."

"This is a well-equipped, tastefully furnished small "cottage", situated by a 13th-century inn, which does excellent food and is rightly popular. It was just large enough for this woman and her (large) dog while we kept snug indoors from the rain and storms. Wonderful views and walks right from the accommodation. When we arrived there was Cornish, tea, butter, milk, local eggs, saffron cake and bread waiting for us. Only one slight suggestion: there needs to be somewhere to dry the clothes that got soaked in the rain, and somewhere to dry washing. Otherwise I think it was marvellous. the weather wasn't their fault!"

"Whilst The Shippen is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful if quiet location, because the owners live in the same yard we felt as if we were constantly being watched, however they were very friendly and the cottage is advertised as dog friendly we were asked that our dog did not use the grass to to her business and as we have a dog that will only go on grass we had to turn her routine upside down, she had to be rushed out for her walk on waking when her first walk would normally be after breakfast, so while we have no complaints about the cottage at all if you are taking your pet/s this maybe a consideration."
