"We spent a week at Penderow mid September as an extended family group including a nearly 3 year old , 5 month old twins and 3 little dogs. The house was really large ,clean and comfortable and provided very flexible sleeping arrangements as there were plenty of twin beds as well as doubles that could be made twin if necessary. The "dormitory " upstairs was very big with 4 single beds and large tv and DVD . My daughter slept there with her baby twins and little daughter but it would have been really great for older children to have their own space. All the beds were very comfortable and the lovely white bedlinen and white fluffy towels were of excellent quality and very much appreciated. There was also a toddler bed and two travel cots available.Incredibly well equipped kitchen and large utility room which was great for the dogs. It was very useful to have the extra fridges and separate freezer in there too.Loved the size of the kitchen and we had all our meals there as a family around the large table. The sitting room had 4 large comfy sofas and large tv and the dining table on the mezzanine area was used for a1000 piece jigsaw to tax us all through the week! ( there were lots of these and other games provided in the house and in the separate games room opposite the owners house near the wonderful swimming pool.Sarah and Barrie were incredibly welcoming and sorted out any of our queries really promptly . Sarah took us all to see her rare breed chickens on the second day and also some chicks. There were some sheep and lots of horses around too as Penderrow is also a stud . New laid eggs were available to buy and we got through loads and took some home - delicious. The fantastic pool attached to the owners house ( which we had to ourselves that week although if the other cottage had been occupied would have been shared) was heated and just the right size for a relaxing swim and to give a little one confidence in the water. We had lots of fun there. It was modern and housed in a beautiful oak framed building with a good sized shower and loo where you could change. The weather was mixed when we were there but we visited Crackington Haven , Boscastle Tintagel and Bude and had a couple of lovely days at Widemouth Bay beach which was great for little ones and dogs.We had a really good week."

"…where to begin with a stay and an experience which just seamlessly worked so well. Yes, the weather God’s also smiled on us such that the latter part of Sunday afternoon was spent by most of us sitting out in the deck chairs facing the setting sun..it was an incredible week-end weather wise and we really could not speak highly enough of the whole experience. The house works on so many levels and we were formerly resident in the Far East and have already mentioned it (Heatherside House) to that many people that hopefully some bookings from over there might materialize in the future! We were very appreciative of your patience with our booking and how accommodating you were. I honestly looked at the Croquet Lawn when we visited the property and thought, ‘well that will be too wet or damp and will not get any use’…oh how wrong I was! The ladies who cooked were great, the food very good indeed and really this is, as I am aware you already know, a very special venue..we all had the best week-end possible, with the laser clays also being a lot of fun. Whilst we were blessed with one of the best week-end's weather for summer, let alone that is was autumn, our three days at Heatherside House were quite simply brilliant. Every aspect of our stay from the venue itself to the in house caterers and including the arranged activity of laser clay's worked perfectly. Heatherside House is simply an outstanding venue for all ages to enjoy each other's company for a few days and to celebrate any special event. Edwards Group"

"Just returned home after a long week-end in this stunning property with a group of friends. It is the perfect luxurious, but homely and comfortable getaway. Beautiful setting with wild Hares frolicking on the lawn. The house has everything you could possibly want including warm and welcoming hosts who will do everything to make your stay comfortable. It offers a different experience to most other large highly rated properties. It is densely decorated with old family portraits, much old china and other family heirlooms. The owners and other members of the family live in adjoining and neighbouring cottages, there is an internal interconnecting door between the main house and the owners’ cottage. The property could perhaps do with some internal decoration and replacements, such as repainting ceilings and replacing threadbare carpets but perhaps this adds to the ‘old country house experience’? The property was very clean when we arrived. We stayed here a couple of weekends ago for my mother in laws 60th Birthday. We had the most incredible weekend. The house is beautiful, so lovely and clean. The kitchen is very well equipped and my children loved all the outdoor games and toys they provided. We will definitely be going back as it’s the perfect house for a big family to stay in."

"Overall we loved Thurlibeer. It’s in a great location, close to Bude and a couple of supermarkets for supplies. It’s also within easy reach of other beaches and more of Cornwall. There is a large grassy area for outdoor games and relaxation with the most amazing view towards Widemouth Bay and open countryside. We were a large group of 16 including young children. There were a few minor issues; all kitchen knives were blunt and a sharpener would have helped at meal times as would a measuring jug; we did eventually find some kitchen scales on the last day tucked away out of sight. A couple of the lounge seats had missing slats. The description of a “games room” is a stretch....it is in a dark and dingy basement with a table tennis table in a poor state and the ceiling is right on your head if you are 6ft, we didn’t use it. Final comment relates to the exit; it’s on the main road with fast traffic so you have to be really careful coming out as you have to stretch your neck to see if the way is clear. It’s really a concealed entrance and needs one of those mirrors to check for oncoming traffic, as it is it’s potentially a hazard."
