"We are just back from a wonderful week in The Cottage. It was heaven on earth. The comfort was second to none, albeit the décor was set in the 70s but the bungalow used to be a granny annex and has not been updated. Even so there was a comforting presence which reminded us of our parent's homes so we were relaxed immediately. The accommodation was absolutely spotless and the location was superb. The views from all the windows was over open countryside (30 miles distant, we were told). The owners were so warm and welcoming, there was a welcome gift of a jar of homemade strawberry jam and a jar of homemade marmalade on our arrival, they were absolutely delicious too. Our dog was so happy and contented. The grounds around The Cottage are really lovely. Ruby, our dog, just roamed, sat and slept in the sunshine on the lovely grass all around. The local village, Tarbolton, was a mile away and we had to drive to get there as there are no footpaths (which is awkward when you are walking with a dog). Nevertheless, we drove out to Ayr, Troon, Saltcoats and Largs and walked for miles along the lovely sandy beaches and picked up supplies of any food we needed while we were out. We were very lucky with the weather too, temperatures reaching 24 degrees on most days. Everything was really superb and we will definitely make the 7 hour trip to stay at The Cottage again."

"Location was quiet but a little isolated for our taste. The local pub which we understand was the Stair Inn, in Stair (welcoming with good food) was 2.5 miles away not 1 mile as stated so not a stroll to in the evening. The property itself was clean and the welcome pack(tea, milk etc.) was useful, however the house exterior and grounds were looking a little tired. The furniture arrangement in the lounge was a little odd, not very cosy. Also as the cottage was surrounded by trees (some of which I think looked like needing attention) it was nearly always in the shade so was quite cold even when we were there in August. Please note there are 16 steps to the front door not 6 as stated on the website. The kitchen was a little small for a family of 4 but well stocked with crockery, utensils etc. The shower was a bit of a challenge as there was no curtain or shower hose holder, so sit down showers were order of the day. The games room was excellent-pool table especially. All in all enjoyed our stay. [Was a little surprised that ,apart from a chance meeting in the drive way when we arrived, we did not see the owners again all week]."

"We have stayed at this property many times having family in the area, but on this occasion we arrived to no key left to get in so had to contact the owner to let us in, whereby we discovered the cleaner had not left the key, on entry we found the cleaning had dropped considerably, there were so many dog hairs on the carpet, I had to clean the filter in the dishwasher due to food and rubbish being lodged inside, all the plates cups ect were dirty and I had to go and purchase dishwasher tablets and reclean everything in the cupboards , and there were only 5 forks in the drawer. Our bedding had stains on and was very creased and there were only 3 towels left for us to use We feel the cleaner is to blame because in the past we were always impressed and happy with this accomodation, so hopefully things will improve in the future but on this occasion I was not happy"

"We had the most wonderful holiday in Scotland, only enhanced by the welcome we received from Deidre and Harold. Their cottage is quant and quirky, with outstanding views. We arrvived from having attended The Open and we were FREEZING from the weather. Deidre and Harold had turned on the heating for us, pre empting the weather, and we were overjoyed for the warmth of our arrival. The cottage certainly was more than enough for our needs, but it could do with a little modernising! Freeview TV might be worth investing in, or an extension of Sky TV from the main cottage. There was also no WiFi, which sadly we've all become accustomed to in these modern times. That said, we would return tomorrow. We played some magnificent golf courses, we were super lucky with the weather and Deidre and Harold were brilliant hosts."

"Beautiful location, mostly very quiet and the property was lovely and warm with good parking. A few days were noisy with low flying aeroplanes constantly landing and taking off. This could be a problem in Summer. Flat was very small. There was nowhere to put things and I lost count of the number of times I bruised my legs trying to walk round bed.Surfaces and floor were very dusty and our clothes seemed to be always covered in fluff off the furnishings. Only 1 out of 4 light bulbs in the living area was working. After opening balcony doors we couldn't get them to close properly. There were no free logs which was just as well as when we opened the stove a starling flew out. After this and reading that the previous occupants had had the same problem we were scared to have a fire in case another bird fell down the flue."
