"Lovely place to stay, cottage very comfortable, everything you need provided and washer and dryer are a godsend. This is a large cottage, the bedroom is a great size and the bed is comfortable, no trouble sleeping; the living room is very comfortable and tv had enough stations to keep us happy at night; the kitchen is marvellous size (huge). There is a large bathroom upstairs with claw foot tub and separate shower, sink and wc, there is also a shower room next to the laundry room downstairs which is very handy. The garden is lovely and we kept the birds well fed with birdseed and bread, we even had a couple of squirrels coming each day. Nice to sit outside during the day with a citronella candle to stop the midges and watch the birds and the sound of the little river flowing over the stones and rocks it is so relaxing. On the negative side there isn't a phone in Forget Me Not, and, as there is no mobile phone signal unless you walk along to the stables, this could prove to be serious in an emergency situation. The kettle should have been replaced as it was past its best, also if you're prone to being bitten by midges, this location could be problematic, there are thousands of the little buggers. We were unable to open the door or windows because of them. Again, on the positive side the location is magical, and so quiet so if you want a place to relax and unwind this cottage is really perfect. There are so many lovely walks on Craigengillan Estate so, if you're a hiker or just like to take a stroll, you will really enjoy the beautiful scenery. Don't miss a visit up to Loch Doon, the coffee at the little roundhouse is great and if you're lucky and go right now you can watch the male and female Ospreys and their three chicks; just amazing to see."

"We are just back from a wonderful week in The Cottage. It was heaven on earth. The comfort was second to none, albeit the décor was set in the 70s but the bungalow used to be a granny annex and has not been updated. Even so there was a comforting presence which reminded us of our parent's homes so we were relaxed immediately. The accommodation was absolutely spotless and the location was superb. The views from all the windows was over open countryside (30 miles distant, we were told). The owners were so warm and welcoming, there was a welcome gift of a jar of homemade strawberry jam and a jar of homemade marmalade on our arrival, they were absolutely delicious too. Our dog was so happy and contented. The grounds around The Cottage are really lovely. Ruby, our dog, just roamed, sat and slept in the sunshine on the lovely grass all around. The local village, Tarbolton, was a mile away and we had to drive to get there as there are no footpaths (which is awkward when you are walking with a dog). Nevertheless, we drove out to Ayr, Troon, Saltcoats and Largs and walked for miles along the lovely sandy beaches and picked up supplies of any food we needed while we were out. We were very lucky with the weather too, temperatures reaching 24 degrees on most days. Everything was really superb and we will definitely make the 7 hour trip to stay at The Cottage again."

"On first impression when show apartment by caretaker it looked fine. On closer inspection it was not at a suitable level of cleanliness and we were very disappointed. I personally spent time dusting bed side tables, main room window sills and crumbs off sofa.Drinking glasses, mugs and plates all needed cleaning before use, glasses had dry orange juice bits still on them, the fridge had a film of what smelt like smoked salmon over it and two rings of beetroot juice stain that hadn’t been cleaned off.The balcony windows were terribly smeared with finger prints and what looked like a dogs nose marks all over them and the sofas smelt of wet dog. The left hand window in the main room doesn’t open but let’s in so much draft that the curtains blew, the bathroom floor had long hairs on it and the toilet seat is broken underneath.Overall a disappointing apartment to which we would certainly not return.Yes this could have been mentioned to the caretaker but what would they have done? Moved us? The caretaker said she had cleaned the flat so not sure she could have improved it if we had reported it!We chose it for its location as it was near to where I was being interviewed."

"6 of us as young couples stayed in a 3 bedroom lodge with a hot tub. Very good lodge but just a couple of things we thought were not great considering the price we paid. The hot tub was perfect and fit all 6 of us in comfortably which is great! The rooms were brilliant and well sized and the kitchen and living room was fantastic. We didn’t realise how big the holiday park was at all! It is about 10 minute drive from all shops etc however, there is a shop on site for essentials. The downsides were the beds were not made for arrival, it said there was 2 rooms with double beds when we booked but when we got here it was only 1 room and the rest were twin rooms. In the kitchen - we did not have kitchen roll we had to go buy this ourselves. We didn’t get much toilet roll either and again had to be bought. We didn’t get hand soup either for the bathrooms nor did we get towels - all had to be brought with us. The shower head also didn’t work so we needed someone to come and fix this. The double bed was also very hard It was overall a good lodge but for paying almost £450 for 3 nights you expect to have some essentials."

"We were really disappointed with our stay. It started off badly when the owner wouldn’t answer my calls or phone me back. He only communicated by text message. We were told the hot tub would be ready at 7pm on our arrival night (disappointing when check in was 3pm) but it was actually 9.30pm before it was warm enough to use. We contacted the owner to help with this but was told we just had to wait. On our second day the shower in the main bathroom leaked through the living room ceiling so we had pots and pans dotted about the room to collect the drips. Again, reported to the owner but no response. The lodge is definitely in need of TLC and was only half ready for our arrival. The glasses and cutlery were dirty, main bin wasn’t emptied and towels from the previous guests still in the dryer. Eventually we left early on the Sunday instead of staying till the Monday. Very disappointed as this is an annual trip with friends. Found out the lodge is up for sale so guessing the owner has lost interest in this."
