"Below is my original reply to your initial email, which you should already have.Dear Customer support,Thanks for your email. I’m sorry to be late replying but I was unable to access my emails whilst on holiday.Unfortunately, we did have problems with our accommodation, which incidentally was S41398 and not The Lodge as you suggest in your email. Shortly after we arrived, we discovered three cupboards / drawers that contained mouse faeces and thus we rang you. You in turn contacted the caretaker who arrived within 15 minutes to rectify the problem. She was very nice and friendly but I wasn’t too happy with her cleaning methods; she simply wiped the mouse poo up with her hands, which I felt was insufficient. We also had an issue with the general cleanliness of the whole lodge. The carpets had been vacuumed and the surfaces wiped superficially but on closer inspection the hob knobs were dirty, the backsplash was stained, the windows had greasy handprints on them and the bedding smelt musty. The suite was old and grubby, the dinning chair covers were stained and dirty (and one was not attached to the chair frame) and the floor dipped alarmingly on the walk through behind the settee. When we first opened the door to the lodge when we arrived, we were assailed by a very, very strong smell of Dettol. It was that strong, we could still smell it at the end of our stay. This was obviously put down to cover some sort of hygiene issue as both my wife and myself were subsequently ill. The morning after our arrival, my wife suffered a bout of diarrhoea, which meant we lost two thirds of a day and two days after that I suffered from stomach cramps and vomiting which lasted two nights and one whole day. I do appreciate that neither the lodge owners or yourselves can do anything to prevent a previous client being ill during a stay but it obviously did spoil our holiday somewhat as you can imagine. In conclusion, I have to say that we were left disappointed with our stay in S41398. The whole lodge has obviously seen better days and was shabbier in reality than the online photos suggested. We have stayed in holiday cottages now for 12 years and have experienced a range of properties but this is the first time I have had cause to write a letter of complaint. We were left with the impression that the bare minimum of effort had been made for our stay. There wasn’t even a pint of milk in the fridge which is the absolute minimum Welcome Tray we have experienced over the years. Whilst we would be happy using your company in the future, we shall definitely not be returning to S41398."

"S41398 was a lovely cabin overlooking the loch, we visited in June and were rather unlucky with the weather, but this didn't really take away from the fact that the area was really outstanding and peaceful. Our two dogs enjoyed running in the garden and were fairly active, so we didn't really see much of the local wildlife. We spent a lot of time sight-seeing only making it back late on in the day. The midges were rather "active" as the weather was to their liking, but unfortunately even our sprays were not effective on them. When I booked I didn't notice that there was no double bed, only two twin rooms, but that was my problem for not reading properly. The cabin was clean and smelled lovely. I did do cooking and noticed a couple of pans weren't as clean as I would have liked, but that was down to the people who were there before us. I think there had also been some changes to the furniture and flooring, as I thought the colour of the carpet, pale beige, wasn't really in keeping with being dog friendly. Our dogs were constantly being wiped down in the hallway, as we didn't feel comfortable to let them wander in and out because of the rain and their wet feet. On the whole, I would recommend staying here if you wanted the peace and quiet to unwind. We didn't eat out, as we were usually tired from traveling, but the local hotel was only a short walk down the hill."

"A lovely very large cottage that is set in its own grounds in a remote glen. Huge kitchen with a beautiful Aga that cooks perfectly. Lounge with efficient woodturner and lots of firewood. Bedrooms well sized with good beds. Bathrooms are clean and bright albeit only showers above the bath which is a pest for me. Pay phone in the lounge that takes incoming calls because unless you have a satellite phone you will get nothing in the house or nearby area as it is placed deep into a dead end glen. No wifi was a pest, we are all used to connection to the larger world and when its taken away you miss it. satellite TV worked very well but even a portable radio struggles to get a signal here. Views and wildlife were spectacular and a burn flows nearby so you have the sound of running water. Access is easy but its a l,ing long way to shops and a pub so stock up well. Staff from the estate were friendly and very knowledgable which was a welcome change from some places I have visited. In short this is a great place for a group of friends or family to enjoy a real isolated quiet time together."

"The access to the property was appalling - the largest potholes on the road ever experienced. Thankfully we had hired a 4x4 Range Rover which coped with such a track - if I had taken my own saloon car it would have crucified the suspension and probably the whole car. The ad for the property stated that electricity etc was included but on arrival we were expected to pay extra by meter. Minimum crockery and utensils were provided. No welcome pack given (basics such as tea, coffee, milk etc (or even salt & pepper!) which we have always found in other cottages hired elsewhere.Draughty windows. All noise heard from accommodation above. Service from owners was zero - promised they would come out to sort problems but never appeared. No instructions for shower or cooker. Having read previous reviews, nothing has changed - will not return even if offered free of charge!! Worst experience ever. Apart from that, location was the only good point. Isle of Skye was stunning and wonderful photos taken!"

"I booked this late on over a mobile phone and did not read any reviews until later. I wish I had. After reading the reviews ,I adjusted my expectations downwards but was still very disappointed by S22510. The dog poo outside the front door set the tone. The courtyard was overgrown , there was a burnt out mattress just over the wall, the place was damp, one window did not close, water came in through a gap in the front door when the wind was in a particular direction. Worst of all was the "track" leading to the cottage. It is appalling that nothing has been done to fix this , despite reports from over a year ago saying how bad it was. There are half a dozen or so properties down the "track" and using a few pounds a week from each hire would provide money to sort it out. This cast a cloud over the holiday and it got so I dreaded coming home at night. This must have been nice once but it needs loads of TLC to bring it up to an acceptable standard."
