"First the positives; you absolutely can not fault the location and views for this property. A text from the owner about a week before with excellent directions (and even a handy tip about the tour de Yorkshire) was greatly received. On arrival we found lovely welcome gifts of Bubbles and cake in the fridge. Beautifully spacious house with ample room for everyone. Well stocked cupboards of crockery, pots and pans etc left us wanting for nothing. Brilliant outdoor entertaining area (which we made the absolutely most of thanks to the fantastic weather). There aren’t really any negatives but if I was going to make any suggestions to make this a 10 out of 10 property they would be; a new bbq on the patio area would be a fab addition especially when the weather is as fab as we had it, being a pet friendly property (which is awesome) it might be worth securing the patio area to prevent young woofers wandering toward the lane (ultimately it is the responsibility of the doggies owner but it would be great peace of mind), a patio heater or fire pit might be a nice addition for cooler evenings. As I say these are not criticisms at all just observations and we would absolutely be happy to stay here again. (Stayed 5-7th May)"

"we booked for a 4 night new year break arriving 30th December at 230pm , we returned home the following morning at 930am on 31st December . The cottage was very cold despite heating on . The bedroom was to small for the size of bed and my husband burnt his leg getting out of the bed to go the bathroom as there was a tiny space between wall and bed. . The bathroom was uncomfortably small. there was no heating in the hall or on landing meaning everytime u came up or down stairs or was freezing and u had to keep living room door closed. It was advertised as having freeview tv and wifi we couldnt get either and were told on return home its due to area but this wasant stated in the write up .have stated in numerous 1 bed cottages/barn conversions lodges and static caravans and never had any problems with size or heating. In the guest book there were several reviews mentioning heating insufficient for the cottage . there are nicer accomodations to visit and spend your monedy on I wouldn't recommend this cottage to couples."

"We enjoyed our time in S16569 - however, at our age we did find the sofa rather low and my wife had difficulty getting up from it! That said the property was well appointed and kitted out. When we first used the washing machine the machine would not spin and dry the clothes. This was because the water drain was blocked with what looked like tissue paper pulp and bits of plastic, which we were able to clean out from the front access point. Regrettably, we also found that the top part of the dishwasher was not working and the crockery was not cleaned. This was due to the internal water feed pipe from the from the bottom rotor point had been knocked and was disconnected from its mounting. Once found this was easy to sort out as it just needed to be pushed home. In both these instances once the minor problems had been sorted out the appliances worked fine."

"Perfect apartment with everything you need for a relaxing break in Holmfirth. Lots of features, wooden floors and a log fire. We absolutely loved it.... as did our pooch! The garden and views are beautiful. Great pub a few doors away, doesn’t serve food but we ordered Indian from Bengal Spice which was delicious! And they knew the address (excellent recommendation from the owner Claire). There is also a coop a short walk away which has everything you need. It’s just over a mile into the centre.... be aware all uphill on the way back! It’s easy to find if you read the instructions! (We didn’t!)All cleaning products are there, as are towels / linen. Don’t forget your toiletries and kitchen roll though! Thank you Claire - fabulous property!!! We’ll be back! X"

"The cottage is in an excellent tucked-away location. It was easy to find though thanks to the directions provided. The owner was pleasant and helpful to deal with. The cottage itself was attractive and had everything needed although it would be very cramped for 4 adults. It was OK if snug for two of us. There is quite a lot of ornaments etc decorating the cottage, minimalists may be tempted to remove some of it! Parking is spacious and safe. The wifi worked well. There is no dishwasher however there is convenient access to washer / dryer /freezer in an area shared with the owner. The garden and patio area was comfortable and great in the sunshine. There is an excellent view of the distant hill with a stone tower at the top."
