What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Hauts De France To Rent.

"The property is a charming three-story ‘mini’ chateau on the edge of a tiny village. The rooms are large, but without character or comfort, and none of the chairs or sofas were easy to sit on. The garden chairs were the most comfortable, so we used them indoors. From the moment we arrived we were treated with suspicion as irresponsible, careless and even possibly as thieves. The first thing we were asked to do was count all the plates, glasses, cups, knives, forks, spoons, cooking utensils, pots, and pans to confirm that the list they provided was correct. We were asked for €200 in cash as a deposit, and were charged for electricity, sheets and pillowcases, and towels. All incidentals were charged for, nothing was included in the rental fee of the property. At the end of our stay, we had to wait for an hour while everything was counted again by the caretaker to make sure we hadn’t broken or taken anything. Then the electricity and other charges were deducted, and the balance of the deposit was returned. In spite of this very careful monitoring, quite a few items in the property were broken when we arrived –– a shower, a towel rack, the kettle (which we were told would not be replaced even though the broken kettle was sitting in the kitchen when we arrived). WiFi, although existing, was very slow, approximately 1MB. All in all, it could have been a relaxing holiday, except that the constant concern about breakages and penalties pervaded the atmosphere. It was not a welcoming or homely feeling."

"I was under the impression that the house was surrounded by its own grounds and was disappointed that all the garden was to the front and that there were houses close by and a road to the rear; the lake was a duck pond and the grounds were very unkempt; the lack of sun loungers was disappointing. I think the description of the grounds should be much more honest. Although the house is characterful it is very run down and most of the furniture is uncomfortable and past its best, although the bed my husband and I slept in was fine some of the other beds were well below par. The most comfortable furniture is in the upstairs lounge, whereas it would be better downstairs as that’s where we spent most of our time in the house, and wouldn’t have used the upstairs room had it not been for the World Cup on tv. The decor, once one gets past the initial impactfulness, is not very welcoming and many of the artefacts are ugly - far too much emphasis on army paraphernalia - giving the house a hostile, museum-like feel (especially the modern army photos in the downstairs w.c. - very much out of place, I thought, in a holiday rental. However, all this was reflected in the cost and so it seems wrong to complain, but after a week I was pleased to leave as I found the house oppressive and shabby and none too clean. The toilet in one of the en-suites had a towel rolled up behind it to, we think, prevent leaks - unhygienic we thought. The showers were poor, too."

"Arrival was pleasant, people spoke English well and everything was arranged smoothly. We were on the early side but got an SMS as soon as we could in our house. Until then, swimming in the pool there. Setback Required Speedo, so no shorts or other types of swimwear. Cheapest variant € 40, - Please mention this on the site, Belvilla! Pool is fine, lots of entertainment.Houses are fine and well equipped. In the course of the days there appeared to be a number of defects (in particular doors that flew out of the hinges and a bathroom door that did not want to leave the lock), but this was easily and neatly solved. We sat with 5 people in a 6-person VIP house and did not experience this as too small. Staff are very friendly and helpful and speak their languages, so reviews stating that one only speaks French this is incorrect in our experience. Environment is beautiful, a beautiful lake in the park and the gardens at the cottages are well kept. If you sit outside in the evening at your house at 22.00 the automatic sprinklers are on! This gave us the first evening a wet suit and wet laundry but we could see the humor of it) All in all we have 3 kids and 2 adults had a great holiday here, definitely worth it"

"The house really old French house which is colorful, spacious, decorated netjes.Sfeervol old \/ flea, it looks like a museum. Quiet area, but we were there during school holidays and there is a (small-scale modern) school in the street, so in the low season it can be more lively. The garden is sublime, wild nature with a piece of wood. The owners are friendly and helpful and if you ask them what they have always tips. For gardeners with green thumbs, Ms. is a connoisseur and Mr knows a lot of history. They live in a similar house in the same yard area, but guests garden is separated. So no lack of privacy. The house is best for all ages but not for people who have difficulty walking. The house is divided into living rooms, kitchen, 1st floor and two bedrooms. 1 with double bed, one with two single beds which cozy spacious stand apart. Room in the house fine, but you need to pass a room a ladder with one or a few treedjes off \/ on. Very strange. Only downside is that shower and toilet (spacious and clean) are far from the bedrooms. To refresh you need to get through the house. Kitchen is fully equipped. very"

"Although we had a lovely holiday, the accomodation was disappointing. Cleanliness was not up to scratch, lots of dust, dirty cutlery and cooking pans. The veranda chairs were very uncomfortable, so much so that I went out and bought large cushions so that we could enjoy the outside. Bed linens need updating, as do the towels, which were like sandpaper. In the lounge you could not sit comfortably and watch TV, due to the arrangement of the furniture. Whilst I watch very little TV when on holiday it is nice to have the option. The upstairs bedroom has no furniture, apart from the bed, no bedside light you can read by. There are lights in recesses either side of the bed but they are not practical. The kitchen equipment is sparse, the kettle and the toaster difficult to keep switched on and need replacing. For the cost of this rental I felt really let down. I stayed in a property in Norfolk in April and it was wonderful....chalk and cheese. I expect properties booked through the same company, would have the same standards whatever country they were in."
