"The bungalow is wonderfully spacious and was immaculate. A great plus point was the conservatory which was warm even in February when the sun shone on the back garden. We had afternoon tea in there each day. It is situated in the st Helen area of Hastings so some way from the sea front but has the great bonus of on site parking. We walked down to the main area each day through residential streets which were quite run down. The area where the bungalow is situated however is very nice Hastings itself is a bit shabby but the old town is lovely. The new pier is very impressive and the promenade walk wonderful. You can walk miles along it through st Leonard’s to Bexhill on sea which we enjoyed. It was a bit of a struggle at the end of the walk having to climb uphill for 1.5 miles back to the bungalow and it was no small hill. We did find it better to drive to Galley hill about 1 mile from the centre of Bexhill where you can park all day for free on De La Warr Terrace with fabulous views of the sea. You can walk either way for miles on the promenade and it’s perfectly flat, thus avoiding that long walk uphill at the end of the day. The weather the previous week had been very wet so the Hastings nature reserve was a horrendous mud bath. We couldn’t stand upright on some of the paths it was so bad. - what a pity. The bungalow made it a very quiet relaxing break -very enjoyable."

"We are currently sitting at the dining room table overlooking the stunning manicured and enclosed garden which our dogs love exploring. The house looks exactly as it does in the pictures and property description- very airy and spacious and sleeps five comfortably. This is a real home-from-home. The property also has two washrooms (one bathroom with shower over the bath and also a large shower room). We were welcomed by Zoe who gave us a brief tour and then left us to enjoy our holiday in rural East Sussex. She also gave us a welcome pack which consisted of eggs, milk, brioche rolls, a bottle of wine and biscuits for that much needed cup of tea, and also a folding gate so that our two dogs couldn't get up the stairs. Situated close to the A21, this house is in close proximity to Rye, Hastings, Carr Taylor Vineyard and any other places of interest that you may want to visit and is surrounded by rural, open fields, away from the hustle and bustle. If you want a quiet holiday, but also want it jam packed with adrenaline activities such as walking, cycling and horse riding and only the sound of birdsong, then this is the place to stay. I would urge you to book now. We would come here again."

"We have been going to Hastings for 20 years and this is the best place we have stayed. Fantastic view of the beach, central location, close to amenities such as food and clothes shopping, arcades, cliff rides/walk and only a short walk to the old town. The apartment itself was amazing. It was very clean and homely with lots of extras such as a little bag of toiletries for each person and a bag with hot chocolate sachets and special biscuits and Hastings Lemon Ketchup. There were plenty of towels and even flannels were provided. I gage how comfortable I am in a holiday let by whether I would walk around bare foot and my shoes were off the minute we walked in the door. Some days we didn't go out until the afternoon because we were so comfortable in the apartment, watching tv, reading or looking at the view."

"The Base was an excellent location being right on the seafront at St Leonards. The apartment was surprisingly large, very comfortable and very well equipped. Other reviewers have mentioned damp but it certainly wasn't an issue for us. On street car parking is free but it was difficult to find a space. However, this was not a problem as we just decided to walk everywhere or parked in the public car park nearby. Carol Anne was very welcoming and left us a pint of milk so that we could have a cuppa on arrival after a long journey. Carol Anne also put fresh flowers is the rooms. In the summer, and when the scaffolding comes down I'm sure the front courtyard will be a lovely place to sit. One of the main things for us was that it was dog friendly. Some nice restaurants within walking distance."

"Absolutely brilliant location, near the Beach and the Town. We took both of our Dogs who were well catered for by Carol-Ann (the Owner). She had left Dog Treats, Towels and Poo Bags available. The House was spotless and the Living Room has 2 massive sofas which are very comfortable. Wifi is readily available. The Bedroom is very spacious too and the Bed is very comfortable. The Kitchen and Bathroom are both well catered for too, with everything you could possibly need for a good holiday. The Base is indeed a great base for any Holiday and Carol Ann is a lovely person who is really helpful. We would definately reccomend this place and will be going back again."
