"The cottage is situated well for visiting lots of lovely places nearby , Whitby , saltburn , Runswick bay , staithes , and the very beautiful skinning grove beach are all within a short drive away . Scott the owner was very friendly and helpful. we arrived abit early on the day he kindly let us drop all our bags off and while he finished getting the cottage ready, myself and my family went into saltburn for fish and chips which I would highly recommend ! There are 3 pubs close by 2 of which we went in and the locals were very friendly , there is a spar shop situated just across the road. Well stocked reasonably priced . There were some toiletries left in the cottage which were useful for 6 people ..The down sides for us were the shower was very poor , either too hot or freezing cold and very bad pressure also so we opted to run baths instead however it took a good 40 minutes to run a bath of a decent depth due to poor pressure the water ran out so slowly and with 6 adults in our party it was quite tedious and not what you really want to be messing about with when your on your holidays trying to just relax and enjoy your time away . The underfloor heating didn't work and the whole of the property downstairs is stone tiles so extemely cold on the floor but we did put the heating on to make it warm in the cottage the floor in the bathroom was nice and warm though. Scott the owner kindly did come and have a look at the underfloor heating unfortunately he couldn't get it to work either . The cupboard / wardrobe in one of the upstairs bedrooms was under some sort of renovation and looked very unsightly and really spoils the look of the room I understand from time to time maintenance and repairs will have to be undertaken however these sort of jobs should really be carried out , out of season. Unless they are necessary and cosmetic repairs I don't regard as such . If I had seen this on the pictures on the website It would of put me off. Sadly the following morning after we arrived we went out to find out car had been Scratched all down one side after Parking in the side road , the police were informed , we were told by several locals that this had happened before and when I checked online I did see a review from November 2017 saying someone who had stayed at the cottage had also had their car damaged . it does say plenty of offstreet parking but the people in the side road don't like people parking there and one man was particlaury unpleasant it's unfair as its hard to park elsewhere. The cottage has a garage on the same street with a small frontage where you can park but it's difficult if you have a large car as we do or if you have more then one vehicle as we did ...someone is defiantly being malicious and that's not fair on either the part owner or the holiday maker . It really did spoil our holiday ...The police are VERY aware now so whoever it is they won't keep getting away with it ...I hope the person or Person is caught to to prevent anyone else having to go through all the hassle as we have ."

"We booked this delightful property for a family celebration - my mum’s 70th birthday. We chose it mainly because it was just a three-hour drive for everyone (we are fairly far-flung, residing in North Wales, Nottingham and Edinburgh) - and we were thrilled to discover how lovely it was. The location is superb: Bishop Middleham is a quiet village, but it does have two pubs - and there is a well-signposted circular walk (about 3 ½ miles) that really shows off the area. It’s a bit muddy, but worth the muck! Durham is a short drive away, and we enjoyed exploring its picturesque centre. The property itself is near-perfect. There were eight of us - and the two teenagers certainly appreciated having their own single bedrooms up in the eaves. Two of the double bedrooms are very spacious; the third is much smaller but still adequate, and all are beautifully decorated. The shower is great - I really appreciate a hot, powerful shower. None of us made use of the enormous bathtub, but it lends the place a real sense of luxury. The communal areas are all ideal - the living rooms large and comfortable, and the kitchen accessible and well-stocked. The garden is a particular delight; we enjoyed sitting outside for coffee, even when it was raining. We also appreciated the cakes that were waiting for us on arrival. Yum.Would we recommend S88932 to others? Yes, without hesitation. In fact, we’ve already booked a return visit."

"We had a fantastic holiday here and look forward to returning here in the future. Jo-Ann and Robert were fantastic hosts, and got the balance right of giving you privacy whilst also giving a friendly hello and making you feel welcome. The homebaked cake and fresh farm eggs were a nice welcome gift too. We were invited to watch the sheep shearing one day, which our young girls absolutely loved - special holiday memories! Trixie, the friendly border collie puppy, also made our holiday a special one.We had a really relaxing time here - we did go venturing to nearby villages, castles and National Trust places, but also really enjoyed relaxing in the sunshine in the back garden area and exploring the wood and round hill by the property.Comfort and Equipment: this cottage was decorated and fitted out to a high standard, and had everything we needed for a week's stay. There was even a nice selection of books, board games and DVDs to entertain us.Location: the cottage is situated next door to the owner's property, on a beautiful spot on a hill overlooking the farm, with a wood near by to explore. Cleanliness: Spotless, couldn't fault it!Local amenities The nearest shops (a Co-op for a food run, for example) are in Stokesley (15 mins) or Helmsley (20 mins), but Gainsborough has a Lidl, Sainsbury's, M&S Food etc which is handy if you're up that way. There is a pub in the village.Value for money: Excellent!"

"Lovely traditional cottage, very close to Sandsend and Whitby. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children, the kitchen was well equiped and the stove kept us comfortable in the evenings. We had a fire most evenings and the included logs and coal lasted the week. The heater didn't work in the twin room, however, a portable radiator had been put in there, and to be honest, kept that room warmer than the heater in the small double room did. We had a really lovely time at the cottage, and once everywhere was warm, it was great. Obviously as a older property, it can take a while for the building to warm through, but after a good fire on Friday, the fire on Saturday just kept it topped up.The pub next door only seemed to be open and serving food Fri-Sun, perfect for our late arrival on Friday night. Food was fantastic though and very homely. Our daughter wasn't keen on their childrens menu so they changed it slightly for her which she thought was great! My brother and wife stayed in the smaller cottage next door for the weekend and it was great to be able to be together without having to rent a huge property for 8 when we only needed it for the weekend."

"The cottage itself has been refurbished nicely. However on our arrival it had not be cleaned from previous guests.Owner said he forgot we were coming!!! After a 3 hour plus journey not happy. No towels .no welcome pack as advertised.Food left in fridge & freezer. Both not cleaned.Kitchen &Bathroom were not clean. We chose this cottage from previous reviews. Our experience defiantly did not match up to any of them.Did notice from visitors book most guests were one or two night stays.Maybe those guests don't mind not being as clean as I had expected for a weeks holiday.Which from Owners attitude was apathetic to say the least.Totally spoilt our trip.Garden not small dog or child friendly either.Location on busy main road could not unload car outside cottage.Driveway allocated too small for family car.To add insult to injury owner placed an old oven on said driveway so we Couldn't park on it at all.Would defiantly NOT recomend to an older guest."
