"Our 15th stay at Brookside Cottage in the beautiful village of Beeley which we love. Lucky to stay here twice this year including a week back in May. We are well used to some of the cottages quirkiness but it’s starting to feel a bit unloved in places. We hope that the few comments we made in the visitor book (see below) this time get addressed as we love staying here.1. There had been a clothes aerial dryer in the garden for years, albeit a bit cronky. This visit it was rusted and broken / snapped and had been moved into the garage rendered useless. No replacement. Beautiful dry sunny weather all week and nowhere to dry our bath towels (only thing we had was a small clothes horse in the cottage which is broken also)2. In May when we stayed, the lights above the gas hob didn’t work. This visit still the same so we took the liberty of purchasing two new bulbs and replacing them ourselves. Job done! Very little expense but guests shouldn’t be expected to correct these things. Attention to detail is certainly lacking in places.3. Upstairs wet room still intermittently leaks water through the kitchen ceiling above the fridge freezer. It’s an on-going problem we’ve experienced before and the ceiling is badly stained. Obviously needs looking at!The new boiler is a massive improvement and is nice and quiet. The Devonshire Arms pub in the village is fantastic and food excellent and would highly recommend. Lots of walks from the door including to Chatsworth House (and back across Beeley Moor). We bring our bikes and enjoy the Monsal Trail, High Peak/Tissington and Manifold Way routes). Chatsworth Farm shop and café also excellent.Despite the comments we still love the cottage and hence keep coming back. Next year will be the first time we won’t be back for our usual week at beginning of May as it’s part booked already that week so we look forward to our 16th visit in 2020."

"Lovely little cottage with quaint period features and beautifully furnished throughout. We especially enjoyed the open fire and the very thoughtful owner had helpfully left all sorts of provisions for us which was very much appreciated. Parking is a little bit tricky to manoeuvre if you've brought more than one car or have visitors (and I imagine it would be extremely difficult if you have a large car too) as although technically there is space to park two medium sized cars, it is quite difficult to get out again - especially when other residents/their visitors park cars in the vicinity as turning space is very tight. This is obviously not something within the owner's control though and I cannot praise Sandra the owner enough as she was extremely helpful and very kind, it's just something to be aware of if you are planning on bringing two cars, or your car is on the larger side.We also found the television signal to be a bit hit and miss (maybe that's to be expected due to the location though) but this was easily remedied by streaming it (via a "Chromecast" device and a laptop) as the internet connection was surprisingly very good.Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely visit again if in the area as the cottage was very warm and cosy and we felt very much at home almost immediately! Thank you again Sandra for your hospitality and for your lovely Christmas decorations which made an already beautiful cottage even more so :-)"

"Witchnest Cottage was an extremely comfortable stay; so peaceful and quiet! The cottage is very original with its own unique 'knick-naks' which has given the cottage character. The kitchen is big and has all you need; a home from home. The bathroom is small but functional, it is a cottage remember. The master bedroom is very big and with the heavy blackout curtains drawn, the room is in total pitch black. Seriously pitch black. Because of this and the peacefulness from outside, you sleep like a bear in hibernation. The bed is soft but comfortable. The living room is cosy with lots of knick-naks about, which gives the cottage character, but at times if felt 'too much' as I feared I could break something, my wife however loved it! The room has all you need: TV, Blu-Ray player, CD/Tape/Radio player, books and local guides. The cottage has an open fire, but due to very warm weather, we didn't use it.The cottage has gas central heating and was warm. The garden outside was nice, but not 100% private; you can hear the stream which is relaxing. The cottage is beside a guided walk path, so will see people pass the cottage, so don't be alarmed. There is a car park outside the property which can hold two or three cars. Broadband was excellent for the location: 45-50Mb down, 10Mb up.Mobile coverage for O2 customers was excellent, strong 4G signal throughout the area."

"Absolutely loved staying at Nutmeg Cottage for a week. The cottage was the perfect size for both me & my wife, our 8 month old daughter & our dog. The village is lovely, walking distance to multiple cafe's, shops & pubs. The cottage was presented beautifully, even with fresh bread & wine supplied for us! Absolutely immaculately clean throughout. The only negatives; there is no dedicated car parking, however it was never an issue. The village is small & parking the car was no effort at all, there was always various spaces available close-by. Next door neighbour even let me use his driveway for a short time while we packed up! It must also be noted there is no garden or courtyard to let the dog out during the night. However, there is a bit of grass very close to the property which is perfect for this. It was no bother. We'd stay at Nutmeg Cottage again in a heartbeat, loved it. Highly recommended."

"We had a lovely weekend at Lumsdale House. We were 6 adults and 3 children. It was really well equipped with just about everything you could possibly need - the owners had thought of everything! The rooms were huge and there was so much space downstairs. We ate in both nights making full use of the well equipped kitchen and great big dining room. The showers were fantastic (but didn't work so well when someone else was having a shower in another bathroom at the same time!). The only thing that would have improved our weekend was a bit more sunshine and some work on the circular garden immediately outside the house! The garden was beautiful but was a bit let down by the circular garden being full of weeds and overgrown - it would have been stunning with a bit of work. We would definitely go back again if the opportunity arose."
