"We have been at this particular property several times and I cannot praise it enough. It is so easy to get at by car and simple access to York itself by Park and Ride is only a couple of minutes away, along with a big shopping centre, including large food-stores and M&S Simply Food, if you wish. There are also several other dining centres just across the road, a minute's walk from the property itself. The owner is a perfect gentleman, a delight to talk to and only too willing to help in any way he can. Because it is just off the York Ring Road, the whole of Yorkshire in any direction is easy to get at and there is so much to do. Despite being next to the ring road, all the properties in this converted farm complex offer a rather wonderful haven of peace and quiet. It provides a superb base for both city and country activities. One would never know a main road was just two minutes away. As regards the property itself, it is very well equipped and scrupulously clean. The lounge is extremely comfortable; the bedrooms are well-appointed; there is plenty of room for a family or large party to relax and enjoy themselves while the two bathrooms are always a handy extra. One could not ask for a better home-from-home holiday base!"

"We have stayed at S15599 several times over many years and, at various times, in the other properties available at Hopgrove Farm and I cannot praise it enough. Being on the outer edge of York, it makes getting to other places in Yorkshire so much easier.Yet, it is but a short hop by car, or via the nearby Park and Ride service at Monk's Cross, into the city itself. One has all the amenities of a city almost on one's doorstep but all the quiet of of the country as well. Two minutes by car takes one to the huge Monk's Cross Shopping centre where one can stock up with anything one wants for self-catering. Across the road is a Toby Carvery. A five-minute drive round the southern bypass takes one to the McArthur Glen outlet - and all around is the magnificent county of Yorkshire itself with so much to visit and see. For anyone who loves Yorkshire, the Hopgrove Farm self-catering complex is hard to beat as a place to stay."

"We had a very enjoyable stay here and enjoyed the grounds and the jacuzzi. It was a convenient location to get into York (via the Park and Ride) and to the A64. Lovely area with lots to do. The owner seemed very friendly. Our only disappointment (and thus the overall lower rating) is that on leaving we discovered we had left behind some speciality chocolate bought at the York Chocolate story as gifts. This was expensive (worth over £20) so the same day we left we called back, explaining we had left them in the fridge drawer and would pay for them to be posted to us. They were never found (implying the fridge wasn't properly cleared out). I was then told new people were in the cottage and we heard nothing more from them. I am sure those new people would not have been offended by someone coming to retrieve them so we were disappointed by this response."

"the satnav will only get you to the area look for the toby inn,The entrance from the toby inn is on l/h as u head towards roundabout.that is the nearest to been negative as I can get.We had problems finding it a a quick phone call to the owner and he was out on the road side to show us in.The owner is probably one of the last true english gents his property shines through his approach to his guests and is with out doubt is what you see on the web, topped off by his expert hosting.S15599 was ample in space fully equipped and we intend booking it up again. We would recommend this to all but treat this with respect as the owner deserves nothing less. cost of a taxi is around a tenner into york which is the best way to get in as york parking is not cheap.a personal note to the owner " thank you and we hope 2015 is a good season for you. " "

"Excellent accommodation with very easy access from the York bypass and to the Monk's Cross large shopping centre and the Park and Ride which are two or three minutes by car from the house. It is easier to approach the house from the southern York bypass as the northern bypass route has many roundabouts which tend to slow traffic at peak times. It is an ideal place for exploring York itself or for visiting the many fascinating places that are around the city. One can have all the advantages of being both very close to a major city and having an easy starting point for exploring the wonderful countryside of Yorkshire itself. We have stayed at S15599 several times and at the other converted farm buildings on the same site. It is an ideal place if you enjoy self-catering!"
