"We were looking to do something a little bit different for a birthday celebration & this trip gave our family just this! We camped 23rd to 26th Oct & for Oct temperatures I'd say this was the right number of days. Our tent had been decorated for us & we asked for the stove to be pre-light for our arrival as we couldn't get away until the kids had finished school - I'm so pleased the site manager was kind enough to do this for us even though i was advised they don't normally do this as it made a HUGE difference to our arrival experience! Walking into a lit, warm tent was wonderful & it meant we could cook straight away. The site managers were lovely, were on hand when needed & were so helpful. They do this job in addition to other jobs and they always stopped for a little chat when passing - I'm actually envious of them living where they do & doing what they do! Beats travelling into the city & spending 2 hours in traffic every day hands down! Tent was amazing, has everything you need. We packed toilet roll, kitchen roll, candles, tea towels etc. didn't need any of it. One thing I would recommend is scented candles - might sound a bit daft but everything smells of burning wood so a nice sweet smell is a welcome experience! Also I'd recommend only take & wear what is absolutely necessary as everything needs washing once you return home whether you wore it or not as it smells of burning wood & fire which is fundamental to staying warm! Beds were fab, quilts were warm & spotlessly clean & plenty of fleecy blankets were provided to stay warm - we were wrapped within an inch of our lives when we went to bed! Toilet & shower very clean & my group all felt the same, being in the shower was very nice indeed when it was so cold outside. Unlimited logs is an absolute must in Oct, cant stress this enough. It was cold & windy some days and keeping the fire going was a challenge so you need a lot of kindling to get it going. Many of the logs were huge so we needed to rake about for smaller logs. Tents are spread out which gives privacy. We stayed in Snipe which had a cracking view & no-one in front of us - saw some great sunsets. Beautiful surroundings & country - no phone signal, no Wi-Fi, no electricity just complete darkness... We had a day in Blackpool at the Pleasure Beach (recommend fast-track!) & we did the illuminations for the kids, if you've never experienced Blackpool before this is a fab way of doing this but its a long day and the tent is freezing when you return late at night so go very early & return relatively early evening. Great experience, would definitely return & will be at some stage in the future in the summer time maybe next time."

"We were a party of 16 staying at Luntley (4 families with children aged 10-14). The location was idyllic, quiet and the house was sat within lovely grounds for the children to explore. The owner Richard was helpful in allowing us to arrive early to the property and he and his lovely family occupied the other properties on site for a few days whilst we were there (which didn't affect us at all). Inside, everything was clean (apart from a few cobwebs, which added to the character) and well-equipped. The huge living room was great with a smaller reception room off of it (with a second TV). The dining room was big enough for us all to sit around, if you moved the kitchen table alongside the dining table). There was also a huge utility room with 2 washing machines and 2 driers, additional fridge and freezer. There was plenty of kitchen equipment, the aga was easy to use but we had the electric oven in the utility room when needed. We had such great weather that we also made use of the two BBQs. There were plenty of spacious bathrooms but due to water pressure only one shower could be used at a time (which was manageable, even with 16 of us). There was plenty of hot water and due to the number of radiators the heating was more than adequate.Bedrooms were set out as follows:1st floor - Family room (double with single and cot) with large ensuite bathroom. Then along galleried landing to 3/4 further bedrooms. One of these double, one quad, one further double with a single leading off of it (which had ensuite bathroom). There was also 2 further large bathrooms opposite these bedrooms. Small staircase leads up to 2nd floor.2nd floor - Two twin bedrooms with large shared toilet. There is a hall area inbetween (as shown in pics with desks). All bedrooms had more than enough storage/hanging space. You can only get a mobile/wifi signal in a couple of areas of the grounds...but this was great for us and the kids being without distractions for a week.Would definitely recommend staying at Luntley."

"I've waited till I have the time to really sit and write a good review for the guys at Lantern and Larks. My friends and I decided to spend the weekend away for my 30th birthday, as we have previously done for a few of theirs, glam camping in our beautiful English countryside. We have stayed previously at sites through different companies but I wanted to try somewhere new for my weekend away. From the start of our vacation - booking our cabin to being received at the site - all the staff were very friendly, polite and answered any and all questions that we had quickly and with no bother. Upon arriving at our temporary new home (Redshank, I think our name was), we immediately noticed all the birthday decorations the staff had so kindly put up. Special thank you to Emma in reservations. Having stayed in a tent like this before we had some expectation of what the inside was going to be like, but we were genuinely surprised at how big it really was. Perfect for a group of 6. We had 3 bedrooms to sleep 2 in each, a lovely big kitchen, a large lounge/dining room and a lovely porch out front, over-looking not only our lovely little outdoor BBQ area, (I would recommend purchasing the fire pit for the weekend), but also the amazing view of the fields we had being the tent on the far side of the camp. We also had a toilet and shower attached to back of our tent which was new to us. I have to say that I did prefer the communal showers at other campsites we've stayed at for the temperate control alone, but having the toilet so close was a definite benefit."

"Booked a last minute 2 night weekend break at S43660 Lantern & Larks site, glamping safari accommodation October 23rd 2015. The booking was quick and efficient and we were met by lovely friendly staff onsite as soon as we arrived. We were shown the 3 bed room tent and facilties including how to use the aga stove and log burner. The tent was very clean and had everything you needed, just bring extra matches and tea-lights for all the candles and fires you have to light. They do have a honesty store for any items you forget. Considering the weather and time of year we were lovely and warm. You just had a little noise as the wind wrapped around the tent one night, and even when the rain poured it was so water tight and cosy it was quite relaxing and peaceful listening to the sounds. Set on open farmland, you wake to pheasants and barn owls surrounding the site. It is just perfect for a relaxing fun weekend away with friends and a couple of dogs with us. You are a bit of it but about 4 miles to Chipping with 4 fabulous pubs in an ancient village setting, with a farm shop stocking everything from fresh meat, milk, fruit and veg and famous local real ales and wines.Close to Lancaster and the canal network and Barton Grange Garden Centre with its shops and canal setting its so handy. All just perfect and a fully enjoyable experience. We enjoyed it so much we have just booked again for May 2016."

"Really enjoyed our stay here. The property is bog so plenty of space for large groups. The kitchen was well equipped with lots of space I'm 3 fridges for our delivered food. The lounge has plenty of space. The house is impressive with lots of character and a lovely quiet location. It is a shame that the fireplaces don't work. We were surpeised and disappiinted to discover that on arrival. However, we found leaving the property by 10 or even 10.30 am very stressful with such a large party with small children. We only stayed for a weekend and there is a note on the wall insisting all washing up is put away, floors vacuumed, toilets cleaned etc. Doing all this with so many of us meant we had to be up very early and were quite stressed by the time we left (by just after 10). If they are going to insist on this level of cleaning then I don't think a midday checkout would be unreasonable - or be out by 10 30 on a Sunday morning but allow us to leave the dishwasher on and not have to vaccum (I have never been asked to do that in a rented cottage before - not having to clean is part of the joy of a holiday). For this reason alone we wouldn't stay again."
