"A very charming little cottage, with parking and a garden. Sampford Courtenay is ideally situated for exploring. The downside to the cottage is that it is on a crossroads and the traffic noise is incessant night and day. We appreciate it's hay making time but numerous lorries and tankers pass through there. Sadly that would stop us returning. The ground floor living area is lovely and provides everything you need. However there were two problems upstairs. In the smaller bedroom the mattress needs replacing, it had a huge dip in the middle, which was aggravated by the sloping floorboards, we tried turning it over but it was still the same, so did not provide support or a comfortable nights sleep. In the main bedroom the floorboards slope in all sorts of directions but the biggest problem is that there is a step up in the middle of the room which is fine during the day but when dark is easy to forget, and my husband tripped over it but luckily wasn't injured. Other guests have mentioned it and a danger tape has been stuck on it but as previously suggested, if the floor was levelled with a step at the door to the bedroom the problem would be resolved."

"Annie’s Cottage is a very well equipped and thought out dwelling. It is ideal for a couple and a small to medium size dog. It is very clean with modern up to date equipment. There is a large modern shower cubicle rather than a bath, which suited us perfectly. The village is very picturesque with a small river running through it. It is tight for large vehicles, but typical for Devon. There are no shops or stores but the village pub, ‘The who’d have thought it’ is a jewel. It’s dog friendly, serves good food and has a selection of beers including guest ales. The staff are very friendly and obliging. The location is ideally suited for exploring Plymouth and the surrounding area, being just on the edge of Dartmore, it’s literally minutes before you are away from the tight Devon roads and onto the slightly wider but open moorland roads. There are also a number of walks from the Cottage, so it is possible to go car free if you wish. All in all an excellent choice."

"This cottage is fabulous. Down a quiet lane, with stunning views. There were 6 of us: 3 lads in their late teens/ early twenties, mum and dad and granny. Sue and Graham have thought of everything - everything you'll need and all of a high quality. Very friendly owners who were there if needed. Room for two cars in the covered car port. The rooms are big and lavishly decorated and dressed. We did a lot of running and cycling and walking, easy distance to Dartmoor and enjoyed a morning on the beach at Seaton in the April sun! Ate well at the Old Plough Inn in the next village (Bere Ferrers) and joined in at the Open Mic at the Egecombe Hotel on Bere Alston and had a very warm welcome! Brilliant, comfortable place to stay and relax, even though some of the cycling involved some steep hills :-)"

"This cottage was located in a pretty, secluded village with little traffic and with the sound of the Milton Brook nearby and owls hooting in the trees at night, it was very restful and yet very close to Plymouth and Tavistock, with lovely places to visit nearby including The Garden House and Buckland Abbey. Although there is a good pub in the village, there is no convenience store and we had to go a little way to find a newspaper, but this was only a minor niggle and we found the cottage very comfortable and with its three floors, surprisingly spacious - everything was spotless, easy to use, and clearly labelled - wish we could have stayed longer. The owners were very welcoming and helpful."

"The cottage was everything we needed for the two of us to enjoy a few days walking up on the moor and enjoying local National Trust properties. The bedroom with its delightful high ceiling, overlooks a stream with ducks and some chickens in a nearby garden. The bed is very comfortable and the shower in the generously sized washroom can be set to be powerful. Downstairs the cottage has been tastefully designed to provide everything we needed for our stay.We also enjoyed sitting out on chairs beside the stream at the end of the day..The parking place is very near the cottage and easy to use.Everything was just as we wanted, and we hope we get a chance to return."
