"Unlike some properties at Lower Mill with limited views, S80374 overlooks the wonderful Somerford Lagoon and it's so lovely and relaxing to be able to watch and listen to the different birds that come and go. In the evening, we could almost reach out and touch the bats that came out to catch their supper. The whole estate is a joy for those of all ages, who love and appreciate nature. We don't have young children but for those who do, they would be well catered for. There's a lovely atmosphere across the whole site and everyone we met was friendly. A strict code of conduct ensures that nature, wildlife, and peacefulness take priority. The Spa is an absolute oasis; beautifully clean and with the outside pool being even warmer than the inside one. Our week long stay was at the beginning of October and one warm, sunny weekday we had the outdoor pool to ourselves for almost 2 hours-bliss!The house itself is spacious, clean, very well equipped for the number of people it can accommodate and would be warm and cosy during cold weather (we had to turn the heating off). The beds were very comfortable and the linen and towels clean. The only disappointment was the 'General Store'. This amounts to no more than a few shelves of random items within the Ballihoo Restaurant. They didn't even stock ordinary tea and were charging 60p each for tomatoes which, needless to say we declined. So, if you don't want to spend your holiday food shopping, make sure you either bring everything with you or arrange to have it delivered. We shopped at The Organic Farm Shop in nearby Burford (the organicfarmshop.co.uk) and would very highly recommend it. They stock pretty much everything you could need and the food in the cafe is delicious. Well worth a visit in itself for anyone who appreciates good quality food, with much of the fruit and vegetables being grown on site."

"The bungalow is situated on the edge of a housing estate in Bathampton. It was really clean, the shower was powerfull & there was plenty of hot water. From the cottage it is approximately a 2.5 mile walk along the canal into Bath in one direction & approximately 11 miles into Bradford on Avon in the other direction. Unfortunately there are no shops in Bathampton, the nearest being about 2 miles away so the welcome pack provided by the owners was really useful. There is also a pub a short walk from the bungalow. Whilst we were staying the garden was swarming with bees. There were at least 3 individual nests with hundreds of bees surrounding each nest which made sitting out in the garden impossible. Normally I can enjoy bees visiting my garden (& I have planted plants which attract them) but the amount in this garden was not in the least enjoyable. Looking at the review book in the cottage the bees were also a problem to people staying during September / October last year. The owner managed to eventually get pest control out the night before we left. They attended the premises at 6:20 pm but by that time most bees had retired into their nests. Pest control stated they were Ivy bees. Unfortunately as I have a severed allergy to stings we could not risk opening windows or sitting in the garden which sadly spoilt our enjoyment of the cottage."

"S71987 was a perfect base for our holiday. Gordon and Yvonne were most hospitable and had prepared the house to a high standard so everything was prepared for our arrival and we were very happy throughout our stay. The local amenities are limited, small shop, pub (the anglers) and the cafe at the castle - there is also a large bike shop and mountain bike activity seems to be popular though we didn't on this occasion we noted the large range of routes. We had two dogs with us and the forestry trails were perfect for our needs and the dark skies at night were full of stars. So if country living and simplicity are for you this is the ideal location. It is not an 'easy' place to reach the roads up from the A69 (turn off near Hexham to Belingham and up alongside Kielder Water etc.) are a bit better condition wise than the roads from the North down (off the A7) but which you use also depends where you are coming from. We would thoroughly recommend S71987, certainly for a couple, as we were, but also for a family as the second bedroom has full size beds and plenty of space. Rear garden is a very good size and enclosed and leads out into a small area of forest above the stream."

"We enjoyed a super holiday at S15100. The house is well situated with lovely views to front and back. The layout out inside is very practical with a large sitting room, large kitchen-diner ( with doors opening out onto the patio/garden) and good-sized bedrooms. The house was very well equipped with more than enough crockery, cutlery glasses etc.. The bathrooms and en-suite shower rooms were spacious with lovely fittings. Wifi and phone signal both excellent. There is a pub 150 yards away and about 300 yards is the railway station with trains to Whitby. It's a very friendly line but not very punctual! The house is very well placed for a number of lovely walks. The two shops (post office/store and butcher's) are about a mile away. The roads into and around the village are very steep ( up to 1 in 3) so we were not sorry not to have taken our bikes!A great holiday in an area we didn't know at all well before."

"The house was spacious, and the location was perfect. There was a large decked area with table and plenty of chairs at the back of the house, overlooking the lake. Two of the first floor bedrooms had balconies overlooking the lake. We were surprised that the top floor bedroom didn't have a window to take advantage of the view, but a skylight, that didn't spoil the holiday though. My son in law took his kayak and made full use of it on the lake. The grandchildren loved the swimming pools, indoor and out, as we all did, and the weather was brilliant. We also enjoyed meeting the swans with their cygnets, and watching and identifying the many different birds. There were some good dog friendly pubs close by, The Bakers Arms, The Greyhound and we particularly enjoyed eating at the Wheatsheaf. It was a wonderful relaxed holiday and we all wanted to stay on for another week."
