"I wanted self-catering accommodation for a week's stay in the NW Highlands focussed on hill-walking. I was with a mate so we wanted two bedrooms. S56439is quite spacious, much better than the outside headline photo of the cottage suggests (the additional photos of the interior of the cottage give a much more realistic idea of the space). My bedroom was a good size with a very large and comfortable (not too soft) double bed. The location as a whole is very quiet, great for sleep! Poolewe has a small but handy Mace village shop/post office, a nice cafe plus the Poolewe hotel/pub which has good pub food served until 9:00 pm and was popular. There are bigger grocery shops in Gairloch, about 5 miles away. The area has spectacular beauty with access to a range of great hills, notably the Torridon hills, roughly a 45-minute drive away. The cottage is excellently presented and all devices worked well: kitchen appliances, washing machine, TV etc. the cottage was very clean, neat and tidy and well-maintained. There is excellent parking adjacent to the cottage in a large shared parking strip - plenty of room. The cottage has a small but nice back garden although we didn't really use that. Interior decor seemed good, as far as I noticed, with a kind of upmarket beachcomber theme, blended with some more traditional antlers dotted here and there (well, it is the Highlands). I tried to think of something the owner could do to improve the cottage but couldn't come up with anything which is perhaps the best compliment I can give."

"We stayed at Riverview over the New Year as we are checking out areas with a view to moving to Scotland and wanted to see this area in the winter. We were so impressed it's now our first choice as Gairloch/Poolewe have everything we could ask for. Stunning scenery, beautiful beaches, enough amenities and a proper community feel. The cottage itself was absolutely perfect for what we wanted, especially as we have 3 dogs and were able to bring them with us. This is quite simply the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed at. We can't come up with anything the owners haven't already thought of. It's like a tardis, moderate from the outside and huge inside, with all mod cons but still a very cosy feel to it. We were greeted on arrival with fresh flowers, wine and chocolates all of which were greatly appreciated after a 12 hour drive. If you can visit out of the main season this is a real bargain and we would recommend it to anyone, but if you have young children beware the river is literally across the road. We would stay here again and have recommended it to friends and family."

"Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Took a bit of finding at first but once we had found it it was all fine. Very clean, tidy and well equipped. It felt homely as soon as we walked in and we were soon comfortable and settled. Our 3 year old loved exploring the house and garden which is steep in places but that is mentioned in the description and we just kept a closer eye on her at the back of the property. We had some fantastic sunsets and sunrises from the property . Great weather and Dolphins spotted from the boat trips. Shop in Gairloch is very well stocked and open until late every day including Sunday so you never go short. Badracho Inn still as good as ever. The road down to Port Henderson at first seems a very long one even when we knew this but after a few days you quickly get used to the bends and it started to feel much quicker. All in all a great holiday in a lovely house in a fantastic location with stunning views!"

"Excellent cottage in a good location for exploring the Gairloch and Torridon area. The accommodation and fittings were perfect for our needs on a walking and exploring holiday. A highlight was the fantastic sunset over the sea to Skye and the Outer Hebrides from the coast nearby. Interesting walks to be had in the vicinity of the cottage (Redpoint, Badachro), good food and drink at the Badachro Inn which is only a couple of miles away. Further afield, shortish car journeys to access the northern end of the Torridon Hills, Gairloch and Inverewe Gardens at Poolewe. The small museum at Gairloch is worth a visit - lots of detail on the development of lighthouse technology in the 19th C, geography and social history of the area. Also Mountain Coffee Shop and Bookshop at Gairloch for a lazy afternoon."

"We were there for two weeks. The house is very nice and located in a beautiful place. The view of the atlantic is great, unfortunately there is no direct access to the sea. The house is modern furnished with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We found the house in a very clean condition. So clean we have a vacation home so far not experienced. The environment is very lonely and quiet. Ideal for relaxing from stressful everyday life. There are two reasonable supermarkets in gairloch, a few kilometers away. The local butcher in Gairloch is great. In Badachro there is a great pub where you can eat excellent. We would always stay there again."
