"Jan and Lachlan McIntosh, the owners, were extremely welcoming, friendly and easy going. On arrival they had supplied fresh eggs from their own hens plus a pack of bacon. Instructions on how to use the central heating and other appliances were available. There was a huge folder containing details of attractions and places to eat which was extremely useful. They had even supplied wine which could be purchased and the money placed in the "honesty jar". The kitchen was very well equipped and there was even a Formans grill. Sadly the weather was a bit inclement but if it had been better we could have used the garden for a barbecue and relaxing. We would rate this holiday cottage a 5* one without a doubt and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting Scotland as the location is good for getting to lots of areas like Edinburgh, The Trossacks, etc. April 2012."

"The clear directions took us right to the door. The welcome was fantastic, the welcome basket and card were a lovely touch. The level of contact was just right. The house and its facilities were excellent and we felt immediately at home. The flexibility of the sleeping areas meant we were able to cater for two families and allow us and the children space of their own. The additional lounge space upstairs meant that we were also able to have an adult space downstairs where we could relax in the evenings, and the kids had their own space to head to in the morning when they woke up. Kitchen facilities were excellent, as were the two bathrooms. The cottage was ideally positioned to travel out to the varied locations if Fife - lots to do in the surrounding areas. The information booklet in the cottage was very useful. We look forward to staying at S23322 again."

"lovely location, can't say a word against it. great for the coastal walk or pop over to Elie and do the chain walk - well worth the visit. Eating and drinking are well taken care of whether it's an ice cream, great fish and chips or a lovely meal at the dreel tavern (great atmosphere, welcoming staff and a good range of beer and whisky if you're in the mood. Parking is a bit of a pain as the nearest place is down near the water - if you can get a place. The house was nice but just seemed a bit over priced for what it was, a more up to date music system with usb/bluetooth connectivity and an upgrade on the TV to a slightly larger screen would help for those cold east coast nights. Blown light bulbs and a rope bannister that had already started pulling out of the wall also let it down a bit."

"A wonderful quirky but very comfortable and well-equipped historical house in the centre of Anstruther. The Red House has loads of charm but also comfortable beds, a great power shower! Beautiful sea views from the top floor sitting room (there are 3 reception rooms). Access to a lovely garden. The sea/beach is just a few metres walk away. The owners live next door and are very welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful stay here with my parents and young children aged 6 & 4. We would all highly recommend the Red House and Anstruther."

"An enjoyable stay in what is a very comfortable and spacious house. Loved the open plan of the lounge and kitchen with it's olde worlde nick-nacks and stove-fire. The separate sitting room upstairs with the TV was a great 'den' for the kids. (and good Wi-Fi plus full SKY kept them amused in the evening)Very quiet and pretty location with 360 degree views of the beautiful Fife countryside. A nice welcome basket of treats was very much appreciated, and the double oven made cooking breakfast a breeze! Would certainly stay here again."
