"We were a family of 14 from Denmark and Australia meeting for a week’s family reunion holiday and Chateau Gaillac more than met our expectations. We felt very spoilt. The chateau is absolutely beautiful and well kept. Built around 1860-70s it has so much character and the photos are a true representation of both the size of the rooms and the way they look. Beds were comfortable and there were 10 gorgeous large bedrooms most with 3 beds. 7 upstairs and 3 downstairs - and more than enough bathrooms and toilets. The lounge room, dining room and kitchen and upstairs foyer were also great for relaxation. Marie looked after us from the very beginning with a tour around the house. She was available to help with any issues. When she is away, there is a lady next door who comes to clean the pool and help with any issues or her son also came to fix the TV one day. Bed linen, plenty of bath towels and pool towels and toilet paper was all supplied to us for the week. There were even some spare swimmers in case needed. The pool was delightful and looks exactly like the photos. There were lots of pool toys for the kids and we left some too. The best part was the kitchen and the outdoor table. We had a young boy who couldn’t swim so it was important that we could see him in the pool while we dined. The kids were in the pool all night and we loved sitting at the outdoor table eating and enjoying a glass of wine watching the kids play in the pool. Marie even supplied some nice wine to start with. The house had 2 rooms with air conditioning the rest had fans. However, we closed the shutters during the hot days and opened them early in the morning and that kept the house cool. The location was great. However, we had such a good time at the chateau we only made it to Albi and Gaillac. We would recommend a trip to Albi to see the big red brick church - it is incredible. There are plenty of vineyards around too that offer daily wine tasting and we found some lovely local wines. The house has a number of bicycles of which 5 of them were in good condition and we went on a few tours through the vineyards. There is also a BBQ outdoor that we used a few times. All up we all felt the Chateau was perfect. We had such a lovely time and would strongly recommend this for any family or larger group gathering. There is plenty room for everyone to relax and enjoy."

"On arrival we were a little anxious on seeing the large metal gates which obscure the property from the road but our concerns were quickly allayed when we were greeted by the lovely Claire (the housekeeper) who opened the gates to reveal the beautiful place. The house was all we had hoped for, very comfortable and well equipped, and beautifully furnished. The house is very old so, is naturally a little creaky (especially bedroom/bathroom doors) but that just adds to the character. The garden is wonderful and private and we dined al fresco for all our meals, making the most of the barbecue, comfortable loungers and hammock. We did not use the roof terrace or the George Foreman grill which is up there as it was too hot, whereas the garden has both sunny and shaded areas. We also made good use of the well equipped games room, which stays lovely and cool even on very hot days. We paid to have the indoor pool heated, which was expensive, but the weather was much better than we had expected so ended up having to ask for the heating to be turned off half way through our stay. If visiting in summer months I suspect the pool may be warm enough without heating. There is a small supermarket and two bakeries in Olonzac, 5 minute walk from the house, and a larger supermarket 15 minutes walk away or a 5 minute drive. We enjoyed the local weekly market too. We used the pizza restaurant and the Turkish restaurant in Olonzac, both of which were good. Our best meal was at En Bonne Compagnie in nearby Homps which is very pretty and worth a visit for drinks, a meal or a boat trip on the canal du Midi. Homps is a 5/10 minute drive away but can be reached on foot in 30 minutes but be aware that there are no pavements once you leave Olonzac, but the road is not very busy. We visited other towns and villages along the canal and also went to Minerve and Carcassonne, both of which are a must as they are stunning. Claire, the housekeeper, was a delight. She was on hand if we needed anything (e.g beach towels) and also gave advise on places to visit. Nothing was too much trouble. All in all we had a wonderful week in a really beautiful house and as we were blessed with glorious weather, we really enjoyed the outside space too."

"Our dreams of a wonderful French holiday came true when we were lucky to find L'Oustal des Fleurs! This beautiful home exceeded our expectations and as an Australian family on an adventurous holiday to the South of France, we felt completely at home as soon as we walked in the front door. Beautiful Claire greeted us on arrival and was so helpful and caring throughout our stay. It was lovely to meet Leo too and get some great advice on what to do in the area. The house is immaculately presented and has delightful French interiors and furnishings. It has everything you could ever want for in a holiday home. We loved every aspect of the house, from the large open family dining & kitchen (where my husband loved testing out his French recipes.... it had every pot, pan & utensil he could ever need), to the "parents retreat" reading room, the gorgeous four poster bed, King bedroom, other bedrooms and bathrooms, stunning garden, (even in late autumn) and huge kids rumpus room (which gave us many moments of peace as the children "loved" it and spent many hours in there!) We loved the sound of the church bells chiming, walking to the boulangerie every morning for fresh baguettes, opening up the beautiful old shutters in the morning, walking down the local streets and to the Tuesday market to buy fresh goodies and cheese. We did lots of adventuring and day trips from our home base but also loved just spending relaxing time at home. We were so lucky to stay for a month and experience the French way of life with our family. It was truly a spectacular holiday and home... Memories we will cherish forever, and we hope to return one day."

"The journey to the villa from Avignon winds up the mountains, through small villages with treelined views across the valleys. The Chateau is a five minute walk from a typical, French village, with a butcher, two bakers, two convenience stores, small playground and a few cafes. The drive down dirt road to the Chateau gives the right amount of mystery and then you see the building in all its glory, nestled between the trees and two acres of grass (bring a football, cricket stumps or rounders bat). Our four year old ran across the lawn, past the fountain with a newt and goldfish to the electric fence (needed to be there to keep the wild boars from entering during late August only), and then to the river, where he spent hours playing in the stream - this is not for swimming at this point. The truly amazing married housekeepers Elodie (French) and Edward (English) made sure that every request was answered promptly, showed us where there was a secret plunge pool, provided cider (provided by his own fair hands) and generally ensured that this week between 17 members of my family (aged 4 to 81) was one that will live in our memories as an extraordinary moment in time. The Chateau, the interior design, the bedrooms and all that one would expect was first class. We went canyoning (great fun), went swimming in the nearby lake, went tree top climbing (not for the faint hearted) and enjoyed evenings on the terrace with great food and stunning wines. We have to congratulate the owners for putting love and life back into this building. Thank you."

"We were a party of 13 adults and 6 children, 4 under 18ths old. We arrived early and although Marie and her staff were busy preparing they made us very welcome. The chateau is large and spacious. Very French, as we wanted, but with all modern conveniences and a large kitchen. The chateau was very clean the bathrooms nice, hairdryers are provided. It is located within a 30min walk along country roads of the outskirts of Gaillac, a town with many restaurants including one with a Michelin star. It is in the heart of wine country. Marie the owner was extremely helpful. Wine and fresh local produce was a nice welcome gift. The pool area was well above our expectations, the pool was cleaned regularly. We ate breakfast and our evening meal on the veranda overlooking the pool, fantastic. Bikes were available which we used. We didn't hire cars, but would advise that people do if they want more than relaxing by the pool. Taxi to the town is quite expensive considering the distance (4 miles max for £12). Chateau to Airport 250.00 Euros thanks to Marie who struck a bargain on our behalf. The chateau enables you to have a BBQ with plastic plates or a 5 course diner with china on a long banquet table under a large chandelier. We very much enjoyed our stay and the family were disappointed that they were to return home. We would recommend that to enhance the stay of people at the chateau the bathroom towels are upgraded. We thank Marie and the staff for our stay at Chateau Gaillac"
