"Without a doubt, the first impression of S70340 is breathtaking. A lot of thought went into the design, original beams everywhere, well laid out, good furnishings and definitely has the wow factor. Really lovely bathroom, but the overhead shower very weak pressure. However for a property described as a “luxury cottage” there was a lack of attention to basic detail. Out of four bedside lamps, only one worked. On requesting replacements bulbs (which were provided immediately,) one lamp still did not work. Should have been checked before we arrived. As other visitors have also commented, I was amazed that there was an additional charge for the internet. The price stated is per device not a one off payment for connection which would have been bad enough. We had to top again as the vouchers only lasted two days. I have never come across this before, found it a bit penny pinching, a way to extract extra revenue at an inflated cost and unnecessarily annoying visitors. The property description says there is a bathroom/ toilet on the first floor with the bedrooms. This is not the case as it is four steps down from one of the bedrooms. When you open the bathroom door a blinding light comes on automatically as there are more steep steps down to the bathroom. The other bedroom, you have to go down the entire winding staircase to the ground floor to get to the other toilet. Very misleading and very annoying when you are half asleep. Not ideal in the middle of the night! The four poster was incredibly comfortable, but the other bed had a poor quality mattress which made you feel sea sick and had little support. Opposite the barn, there were three terriers that seemed to be enclosed in an outside pen most of the time, which at times barked for long periods. The area itself had very little places of interest and the local villages disappointing. Saving grace was Braintree shopping outlet which was 10 minutes away, where huge discounts were available and places to eat. If you like to shop, this is an amazing place to visit which we did several times and picked up some amazingly cheap bargains. Also a large Tesco about a mile away.On a positive note, in the Summer months, it would be lovely to use the private space available outside, ie bbq and garden. Also acres of land to go for walks and beautiful horses on the farm. Having enjoyed Holidaying in Country cottages all over the Country for over 30 years, S70340 was a welcome break but not somewhere we would wish to revisit."

"A lovely base to stay and for dog walks. Good size living areas downstairs and a big kitchen. Two large size double bedrooms and two single rooms (not used) Two Sky boxes in the downstairs rooms to cover most of the basic channels you'll need. Property mainly let down but the poor parking. Driveway is totally useless, too small and needs to be much wider. We only managed to park safely on the road outside of the property from the Mon-Thurs. (Billed as two car spaces well only if you have micro cars. Front room sofa and one chair totally in need of replacing / or putting in more support very uncomfortable. For anyone with mobility issues large front step and back. No downstairs toilet but two upstairs. Microwave didn't work and reported Sat replaced with another old one Monday which helped a lot as the oven / hob was awful to use.Two hook hangers in the hall (both only fit to hang dog leads on as loose) some hooks under the stairs for coats but door to this area had a small catch so not ideal to use often. Back garden good size although three fence panels were in need of repair, garden overgrown and needed work.Hot Tub nice but very noisy and some jets not working, would be better enclosed in a Conservatory to reduce noise and heat lost. Overall we loved the base and the property with a bit of work could easily be made up to a 10 in no time, it seemed a tired property awaiting an upgrade but we still loved it as did the dogs. Off road parking / driveway needs to be wider is the urgent task and front room sofa replaced. Guests won't like the cooker oven/hob (takes ages to cook anything) and the place needs a better microwave (although the one brought in Mon got us by) and definately needs a stand alone mini oven."

"S42466 is beautiful, just beautiful. As someone who manages 50,000 sq ft I know about property and facilities management and the house and gardens are immaculate. The rooms are spacious and well furnished - practical and tastefully furnished. It is extremely clean throughout, nothing was out of place. The facilities for hosting a large event are perfect - even down to four sauceboats! The kitchen has an aga which, for those not used to it, can be intimidating. However, with a little forethought into what you intend to cook and a review of the cook books provided (and/ or prior research) means it does not need to be overly concerning. The grounds are extensive and vary between woodland and grass. Plenty of room for a game of cricket or rounders! The administration from booking through to arrival and beyond is a well oiled machine, with every question you could consider answered easily. I have no hesitation in scoring S42466 10/10. There was truly not one thing which was lacking and everything was extremely well prepared. My only tip - Get your booking secured as soon as you can!"

"This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Sea Shell and we were not disappointed. This time instead of just the two of us and the dog, my daughter and son in law and the baby and their dog came for 6 days and my son for the weekend. There was plenty of room for all of us and the separate lounge/dining room was great for all the baby's toys etc and also gave us time apart. Once again i removed one of the gates as the car sensors hated it, but there was plenty of room in the road for 2 extra cars. The garden is a great space with the hot tub, which we did not get around to using, but the trees and shrubs could do with a good cutting back, but that is the gardner coming out in me. I would certainly recommend this property and we love the closeness of the park for the dogs and the beach for walks."

"This was our second visit to the area and this was the best accommodation we have stayed in. It was nice to be met by the owner Mr Dove who showed us around and made sure we knew where everything was. Also the best welcome pack and something for our dog, which was very thoughtful. This was well worth the money we paid, our only adverse comment was that the sofas and one chair were not as firm as we like them to be, however the bed in the front bedroom was extremely comfortable. If you drive a larger vehicle then parking on the front drive could be an issue, as it was a tight squeeze for my Focus. Its a great location for visiting the area and is very close to the sea front which has some good doggy walking parks en-route. We would stay again if in the area."
