"We enjoyed a two week stay in Gylly beach view in the summer of 2018 with our three teenage children.First the positives -An amazing location - you really couldn’t beat it. The views from all of the sea facing rooms were spectacular! There was always something interesting to see from the balcony - beach life, sea life and park life! Also only a 15/20min walk to the town and its multitude of shops, bars and restaurants. We would recommend The Ranch steakhouse and The Chain Locker in particular for good service and excellent food. Also only short 10 min walk to the next bay along, Swanpool, and its amazing ice creams! The apartment is very well equipped with high-end fixtures and fittings, very spacious, plenty of room for a family to spread out and have their own space but also to come together for a family meal or card game around the large dining table. Lovely comfy sofas to lounge about on - the backs of the sofas lift up for comfort! We encountered a few issues when we arrived but these were sorted out quickly after an email to the owner - speedy service! This is a great place to stay and I would recommend it, however there are a few minor niggles that we discovered as we stayed so I’ll list them here to make others aware (or possibly for the owner to act upon?)Mid stay clean? We stayed for two weeks and I was disappointed that we didn’t have a mid-stay clean on our middle weekend. I would have, at least, expected towels and bedding to be changed halfway through a two week stay as we have enjoyed this everywhere else we have stayed in at least the last 10 years or so. Not sure whether this was an oversight (our welcome pack and towels were missing when we arrived but turned up the next day when we enquired) or if this is standard - we ended up having to wash our own towels once we realised clean ones weren’t arriving. The WiFi - when we arrived, it wasn’t working at all, however after an email we had an engineer visit to try and sort out the problem. He did manage to get it working on SOME devices but not on all and it was very slow - just be aware it is not a quick connection. We were told this was an issue with the apartment block as a whole. The tv/Sky/dvd player - this is supposed to work throughout the three televisions in the apartment via some sort of hub in the kitchen cupboard. However (because of the WiFi problems? We weren’t sure) the sky and dvd only ever worked on the main tv in the lounge and the sky wasn’t connected to the internet so Sky+ functions were disabled. On the tv in the small living room and the upstairs bedroom you could only get freeview. Also you could only operate sky if you opened the kitchen cupboard and aimed the remote at it while trying to look at the tv too - very frustrating! The kitchen worktops - the glass on top of the work surfaces moved around and had trapped dirt and debris underneath - it always looked dirty even when cleaned! I think it need removing completely or at least sealing so dirt/water can’t get underneath. The dishwasher - the dishwasher didn’t clean things properly - even after topping up the rinse aid etc it still left ‘bits’ on all the crockery meaning we had to wash them up by hand. Also the bottom rack seems to be missing a couple of wheels meaning it tipped off its tracks every time you pulled it out. This sounds like a lot of negatives - but I must stress these did not spoil the beauty and comfort of the apartment and the fantastic location - it is just that I feel these simple issues could easily be sorted out and, for the price paid, I would not have expected to encounter them."

"Overpriced, needs overall, few things broken or not working, we reported to reception and some things sorted but bathroom light didn’t get resolved, stained carpet, tatty kitchen cupboards/draws, leaking kettle which was replaced with a tatty travel version and took an age to boil, front door had issues too!Out doors had court yard, desperately needed weeding, washing hanger outside but no pegs, ironing board unstable, ironing board cover past its best so slipped off, only 3 dining chairs (supposed to be 4), pottery set had silly sized small bowls, blinds didn’t fit, frayed and you couldn’t reach the pulley without standing on a chair, no instruction for appliances accept cooker, double glazing blown, no welcome book for the cottage. On a positive note, bedding clean/crisp, welcome pack with basic groceries was a nice touch. The touch left for guests didn’t work but a replacement was provided by the gentleman on reception which we appreciated as we had dogs with us.However very disappointing, on the wall there was an old 13/14 Visit England tourist board certificate, we feel it’s a long time since the Farrier Cottage has been 4*"

"The owners are very kind and helpful people. They live next door and can easily be reached if necessary. The location is excellent because you can both walk to Glendurgan Garden and Trebah Gardens, which are both worth visiting. You can also walk to the beach in about 20 minutes and Mawnan Smith and Helford Passage (where you can go to pubs and find a shop) are both in walking distance, too. There are plenty of footpaths, but at first they are a bit difficult to find. The cottage has just been renovated 3 years ago and really good materials were used. The kitchen contains everything one can possibly wish for in a holiday home, the bed is really comfortable and the living room and the winter garden are nicely fitted up. In addition to the TV set there is a DVD player with a nice selection of films available. The only drawback is that the sofas in the living room are very soft."

"It was a beautiful apartment. But I was very shocked to get an email on the day we were to leave for our holiday to say that carpet fitters would be in at 9.30 am one morning to move all the furniture out of one bedroom and replace the carpet since there was a stain on it. If the stain was so bad it would still mean we would live with it for 5 days of our 7 day stay and have a whole day disruption on the 6th and one day of the new carpet. I was emailing up to midnight trying to ascertain what the stain was. I was assured it was platinum fairy liquid so decided to cancel the refit since it would have been a huge upheaval out of one week holiday. Very surprised that the work could not have been carried out when paying guest not there."

"We had a fabulous week in this very centrally located apartment just before Christmas and it was lovely, the owner had even put up a little Christmas Tree for us, which went down very well with our children. This was probably the best kitted out apartment and I dare anyone to come up with something that could not be found in this place. The water pressure was fabulous you could have a whole shower in 2 minutes and fill the bath in the same amount of time. I did find that the bathroom wasn't terribly clean with hairs on the floor and behind the loo. That said, there was plenty of cleaning items around and I did it. Everyone has an off day. I would definately stay here again. Thank you owners of S20879 :-)"
