The local area is home to a wealth of wildlife and offers many great walks, attracting walkers and artists both. Only a stone’s throw away from the Solent, many sailors are attracted to the area too. Although it’s a small town, Emsworth is humming with activity, especially in the summer. With lots to see and do, there is lots to love about Emsworth.

"Excellent location; nice and peaceful; accommodation fairly clean; several cobwebs that should have been dealt with in the cleaning before occupancy; ensuite to double bedroom smelt of stale water because sealant around shower was missing in places; shower tray partially filled when showering due to hair down plug hole; bath in twin ensuite was extremely slow to fill and hair down that plug hole too; electrical socket behind bedside table was gaffer taped to the wall; had to move wheelie bins from under double bedroom window as the smell was horrendous, smelt like dead flesh therefore flies were in abundance; kitchen cupboards nearly all full of utensils so not a lot of space for food; some utensils not as clean as they could be; frying pan was a little rusty so unable to use; double room bed very comfortable; sofa and armchairs a bit low for us and not very comfortable; oven a bit grubby; plenty of storage space in bedroom; garden very pretty and well kept; the pigs were gorgeous; owners father apologised for bins under window, he washed the wheelie bin out after they were emptied by refuse collection, gaffer tape on socket, he explained it was difficult finding time to repair it due to lettings, also apologised for hair down plug holes very pleasant gentleman."

"What a great cottage!! Although we had rubbish weather while there, you could not fault the cottage which was very well kept, comfortable and fully equipped. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything (including a quarter pint of milk and some shortbread waiting for us!), and the shower had great pressure! We only had one dry day, but did a lovely 12km walk straight out the door. The cottage is on a working farm so my only warning is that the animals are very boisterous in the morning, serving as an alarm clock, particularly if you keep the windows open at night! There is a pub in West Meon, and two in East Meon, either direction not more than a couple kms. We went to Ye Olde George which was nice. A day trip including Winchester and Portsmouth is also doable. Would be lovely to return in better weather!!"

"We really enjoyed staying at the cottage in March 2018. It is a very warm and cosy cottage with a very efficient log fire, comfy beds, all mod cons, Sky TV etc, and is dog-friendly so they can come me too! The parking place is right outside the row of 3 cottages in total, in front of the garage. Compton is a very pretty South Downs village with a local pub that is not very pretty inside but does great food. There are numerous local rural walks starting right outside, but we ventured a bit further afield and visited Chichester, Arundel, Brighton, the beaches at the Witterings (East and West) and the Roman palace at Fishbourne, which is fascinating - be sure to take the behind-the-scenes tour if you can."

"We have had quite a few cottage breaks in last few years and this is easily the best we have stayed in. The cottage itself is lovely, exceptionally well equipped and everything we could need had been thought of and provided. The welcome back was fabulous and very welcome. The location allows easy access to lots of walks, drives to further afield and the extremely good bus service was great for both the days you don’t want to drive and for getting back up the hill easily after an evening in Ryde. Would highly recommend West Mount for a lovely holiday and we are very likely to return."

"Comfortable, spacious, well furnished cottage with good welcome pack and DVD collection. However, there is no parking for people on holiday at this cottage and when we parked overnight on the green, we received criminal damage to our car and abusive language which resulted in police involvement. Parking in the village as a whole is extremely difficult. We do not consider the cottage to be dog friendly due to the steep drop immediately outside the patio door which meant our dog could not access the garden at all from the back of the property."
