"This cottage is in a very quiet area with free roaming sheep around which is lovely. The cottage is very spacious inside, and a lovely cottage, great bathrooms, lovely comfy beds. Aga takes some getting used to, but very convenient as it's on all the time. The crockery was a bit disappointing. Appeared to be cheap and lots of chips. For the price and the added security I would have expected better. The cleaning could also have been a little better. More attention to detail needed, few bulbs not working, dvd remote missing, and other little problems. Heating and hot water is controlled by the cleaner, which isn't the best. Please be aware the stairs are a little dangerous for maybe elderly. However although it wasn't as good as we expected it was a lovely property, maybe a little overcharged. It isn't very well signposted though, and the directions made no sense. The cottage name is at the end of a road only on one side of the road, so if you come from the other way you don't see it. We couldn't find the cottage and in the end had to stop at a house and ask someone did they know where it was, and they did which was very lucky. Tried to ring for help when we couldn't find it, no one answered phone. Finally found the house 15 mins late after we were meant to be met to be let in. No one was there to let us in. Had a right panic on at the time couldn't get in, no one could be contacted. It seemed to cleaner left when we didn't arrive on time she thought she'd given us the key code, which she hadn't. So please make sure if you book this property, when you contact the cleaner near to the holiday date, get the key safe code."

"Aira Cottage was a fantastic place to enjoy stunning Ullswater and the Lake District. Location wise you wont find better, you cross your driveway and you are on Aira Force. Overall we loved our break, but there are some areas we suggest need addressing. General cleanliness wasn't brilliant. The areas you see and use seem clean, but move the sofa 1" and you'll notice dust and books from the shelves (not any more as we hoovered and put them back). The window sills collected dirt and dead flies - the cottage suffers with flies full stop. We assumed its due to the location of the water, but we had half a dozen on the ground floor permanently. Spot lights in the kitchen hanging out of their sockets, door handles in places either not closing or in need of replacement. A very polite sign advising of the rules of the cottage - no dogs on the carpet, however this is contradicted in the guest services book as this states no dogs in the bedrooms. I understand not all dog owners are as careful of other peoples property but there was no fear of our dogs making the carpet any dirtier than how we found it.The upstairs barn / games room area still has the leaves from the autumn brushed into a lump. The patio set could do with an update. If we were paying £200 for the week I wouldnt moan at a cheap plastic table and chairs, but they are dirty and flimsy - there's a tatty old parasol in the outbuilding you can use if you wish, we gave it a miss. The property needs a little bit of love. It wouldn't take much to make this place stunning."

"We had a lovely new year at Wild Goose Cottage. 3 out of the 4 bedrooms are plenty large enough for travel cots and the beds were comfortable. The best area is the kitchen diner, very modern and plenty of room for 8 adults and 3 babies at the table. there's plenty of crockery, pots and pans and utensils. A very well stocked kitchen however only one oven shelf made it very difficult to cook for everyone so the owners could perhaps invest in another shelf to make this a lot easier for large groups to cook meals to enjoy at the cottage. It was great to have the utility area and downstairs toilet plus extra shower. The area was lovely. Very quiet, few nice pubs, cafes and shops. The living room was cosy and nice garden and balconies for use in better weather. The sofas are probably past their shelf life but other than that a nice space. There's a small unloading area outside the cottage but then you have to park your car in the town free car park. Not a major issue unless everyone arrives at once but something to mention as it's not on the spec. All in all we had a lovely time thank you."

"A fantastic break in this cute little cottage. We would definitely return again in the future. Lovely and thoughtful welcome pack, with chocolates from a local company. Everything you need to know is in the manual. The cottage was lovely, cosy and clean. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to make meals, unfortunately some of the kitchen equipment was dirty and needed to be washed before use. It was lovely using the log burning fire at night after being out during the day. There was a clothes horse to dry clothes on but it would be good to have a coat stand or a couple of hooks to hang coats. The cottage is right on the main road and it appears a lot of the cars do not respect the speed limit which is a shame. Some road noise but this did not disturb our sleep. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. We rang before we arrived and had the keys to get in after 5 minutes of arrival. Would definitely recommend this cottage."

"Whilst we liked the cottage a lot and it was perfect for the dogs we did feel that there is a growing 'snag list' of items that need addressing at the cottage. Light bulbs need changing. The sink in the utility room is not connected properly therefore water runs into the cupboard underneath. The oven needs cleaning. The overall cleanliness of the cottage was disappointing. The toaster needs replacing. The table by the main entrance to the cottage has a leg that is NOT connected to the table and therefore the table is just resting on the leg. It looks as though woodworm has eaten its way through. This could be dangerous to dogs and small children. Some of the light sockets don't work. Some of the plug sockets don't work. We would stay there again but feel that the above took the shine off staying there."
