"This is a lovely cottage amid rolling green hills and farmland so provides a great retreat. We wanted the quiet location and were happy to drive everywhere but if you want pubs or shops on the doorstep then you may find this cottage a little too remote. It's a large place for 2 people so plenty of room and the layout works really well. We have a 5 month old baby and she could sleep at the other end of the lounge without us disturbing her. The kitchen was really well equipped which isn't always the case with rental cottages and the general standard of decor, fixtures and fittings was excellent. The place was always warm with heated floors and thick curtains so the log fire was left unused despite it being very cold outside. Our only complaint was the wifi which has a really poor signal and there's unsurprisingly no 4G either. Once connected, it's very fast but the signal kept dropping out as it comes from the main house and has some very thick walls to penetrate. The hot water in the kitchen was also just a dribble and took 5 mins to run hot. We would still return though as the remote location is lovely and most attractions are around 30-40 mins away by car. If it weren't for our baby, we'd also have taken advantage of the lovely walks that start from the cottage so perfect for a walking based holiday."

"A really well-equipped cottage, with everything you could need in the kitchen to self-cater. Comfortable beds, which are an essential. A short walk to the beach and other amenities. There are plenty of toys and games/books and dvd's. Some small negatives: Disappointing outside space, we had beautiful weather and would have sat outside in the evenings but the courtyard is surrounded by other cottages and a restaurant whose staff constantly walk through. Uncomfortable lounge sofa. No on-site parking (£25 a week at public car park) and towels not provided. Despite these things we extended our stay, and for the money the original booking was great value. (Note: 2 night extension was much more expensive) So, if I was coming to this area again and this cottage was available I wouldn't rule it out. But I would probably pay a bit more for somewhere with on-site parking, towels provided and a nicer outside space."

"A beautiful location with lovely surroundings, peaceful and quiet, with only birdsong as the background melody to our relaxing stay. The cottage is to a very high standard of decor and furnishings and cannot be faulted. Good walks from the front door though, after the deluge of rain we have had this year, the ground was very boggy in places. We found a pleasant pub nearby in Hemyock, The Catherine Wheel, that served tasty, quality food at reasonable prices and the staff were helpful with food allergies. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here. Unfortunately, we will not be returning as my wife found it too remote. But I loved it!"

"Very enjoyable four night stay at Miller's Cottage in beautiful Beer. The cottage had good decor, clean, well equipped and in a great location. Excellent access to beach/shops. Enclosed courtyard at back of property offered private seating. No parking at cottage but car park close by. Can get busy during the day although spaces usually available early morning/late afternoon. However, plenty of spaces at Cliff Top car park, but a longer walk!!. Worth purchasing holiday parking permit. Lovely circular walk along coastal path and countryside to nearby Branscombe. Beer Quarry Caves very interesting. Would definitely stay again."

"The Shippon is literally in the middle of nowhere. If you want peace and relative solitude then this is the place for you. Even our TomTom couldn't locate it within half a mile. We loved it there. Just make sure you take provisions though as NONE of the surrounding villages have a shop and pubs are a rarity. Nearest shops are Honiton or Chard, both over 6 miles away in opposite directions. Stuart and Jane live close by and were extremely nice and helpful. Seaton, Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth were all roughly 30 minutes away. Exeter Cathedral was further but worth a visit. We also recommend Forde Abbey and Seaton Tramway."
