What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Dunfermline To Rent.

"Spotlessly clean. More spacious than it looks. Comfortable (although as restless sleepers we would have preferred / slept better in a king sized bed). Large enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, who thankfully didn't bark when horses went past. It would have been helpful to have a map of the local area with walks marked (there were some notes in the visitors welcome book but it wasn't clear if you could walk on the estate itself). As you leave the private road for which the cottage was gatehouse, turn right and walk for just a few minutes to get to quiet woodland walks opposite and behind the white church. Saw deer, rabbits, hares and what I think were buzzards. Didn't see sheep or cows near the cottage but don't know if animals are moved around the farm. A little unusual to be left a delicious lemon drizzle cake, and flowers from the garden, instead of the usual basics of bread and milk but not complaining! There is a shop in the village close by - a 10-15 min walk. Shower noisy but worked fine, not just a trickle - though water takes a while to drain. Wifi worked too and, thankfully, so did the TV, with just a bit of occasional picture disturbance (critically, nothing to spoil my partner's enjoyment of the World Cup!). We would certainly recommend it and hope to stay here again."

"Certain things around the cottage need looking at as they appear tired. Plug-holes in bathroom broken, bathroom bin lid broken off, seal and tiles around bath need renewing, smoke alarm missing upstairs, freezer compartment in fridge broken and kettle switch is broken and you have to fiddle with it to get it to work. Cutlery is so blunt it wouldn't even cut bacon so we had to buy our own knives! Owners dogs barked often and due to acoustics of building it reverberates throughout the cottage. The door handle and lock is loose and there's a knack to unlocking and locking it. The door between the owners cottage and holiday cottage is unlocked all week too. One blind in the living room is broken and won't work. The track to the cottage is full of pot-holes, which is ok if you drive slowly but one night one of the neighbours drove right up our backside and we ended up doing 25mph down a track that really isn't suitable for that speed. Saw owners son when first arrived, he seemed polite, and saw Derek once. The cottage itself is in a lovely spot; quiet and picturesque and due to underfloor heating is warm. I, personally, didn't feel the cottage was worth the money due to the negative points as listed above."

"I chose this place because I knew the area and the building, having at one stage thought of buying one of the flats there. The entrance to the apartments is dismal and dirty. The apartment is nicely appointed and sitting room and bedroom are nice rooms despite there being an over abundance of tartan. Flowers and a welcome basket awaited us which was nice. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and noisy as though springs had given way. In the lounge, the settee covers looked in need of a wash, but the worst bit was the kitchen which is shabby and in need of a visit from IKEA. An awkward shape but what shelves are there are littered with baskets etc so nowhere to put any shopping. The bathroom needed finger marks taken off the door, the bath is fine but the shower is hopeless. Also, the tv is temperamental and only really works using the iPlayer. The entrance to the drive down to the house is tricky due to the parked cars on the road. Having said all that, the owner was very pleasant on the phone and I imagine will put things right."

"Comfort would have been a 10 except the double bed is really hard. My wife and I both woke up with stiff backs. Also, the WIFI just doesn't work. They piggy-back off the pub but need a WiFi signal booster (£30 from Currys, if you read this) so that the signal is strong enough to be picked up. This makes this location useless for anyone, like me, who wants to get an hour of work in before heading into the hills. The location is easy to find and to get to, but it's quite close to the road (about 20-30m from the road itself, which is limited to 30 mph). To be fair, it wasn't really a problem, but you can hear the cars whizzing by from the main bedroom. Having said that, you're right at the foot of the hills - simply wonderful location from that point of view.Having said that, the accommodation itself is absolutely marvelous. It's spacious, beautifully maintained and the basket of fruit was such a lovely touch. Sort out that hard bed and the WiFi and it would all 10s (apart from location)."

"This is the second year we have stayed at the cottage and once again we have thoroughly enjoyed the cottage, we enjoy the amenities around the area and chilling at night in the cottage which is lovely and quiet. The owners are amazing and very accommodating and go out of their way to ensure our stay is always very enjoyable. The cottage is a bungalow and is adapted in the bathroom to accommodate persons who have mobility issues, this is such a bonus for us as we have persons in our group who do benefit greatly from this and I would definitely recommended the cottage should anyone require this for themselves. Overall the cottage for us is a great find and we are already planning our third visit as it really does have a home from home feeling whereby; all of us instantly feel at ease, chilled and able to relax and we are all looking forward very much to our next visit, we would like to thank the owners for their very welcoming hospitality."
