"The cottage itself was lovely and in a beautiful location and very comfortable. However when we booked the cottage it was advertised as having WiFi which myself and family were highly disappointed to discover it did not. My children were unable to watch any movies on their kindles and I had hoped to do some work/ studying while away and again this was impossible. I would like to know why you falsely advertise it as we wouldn’t have booked knowing WiFi was not available. Secondly when my husband arrived a little before me the beds had not been made up by the cleaners and he had to call someone back to find out where the bedding was, the person he contacted was Rita and she kindly made them up although did say the cleaners should have done them. Dirty cup and spoon left in cupboard. Some previous holidaymakers appear to have been left a ‘welcome pack’ as advertised. There was nothing when we arrived and no welcome note etc as previous ones had been left. There needs to be consistency with this. We have spent many holidays over the years in Scottish cottages at a variety of locations and price ranges but this was the first time there was no starter/welcome pack. First time we have ever booked with Sykes and I have to say that I am very disappointed with the service so far. As I say the cottage and garden were lovely and comfortable and we did enjoy our holiday but we did not receive what we had booked. Also on the first night my husband sat on my sons bed to read to him and the bed broke and they both ended up on the floor. It appeared the wooden frame was only held by small screws in the corner and therefore not suitable for an adult however there was no warning about this and we had to prop the bed up in books for the remainder of our stay. I look forward to your response."

"Had a great stay at the cottage and it met all of our needs near enough! We wanted somewhere remote with a log fire and got it. The cottage itself is lovely and done up to a great spec, though as others have said, the area around the bath needs some tlc, though this will be because of the nature of the hand held shower. Cost of the electricity was fine as we stayed sensible with our use, and extra logs were £7 a bag. We used a bag per night, but had the fire on from early evening to late and kept the radiators low. Bed was really big and decently comfy. Good TV reception and plenty of channels. Our only issues really were needing to wash most of the dishes before use (the frying pan and glasses were greasy) and fiddling with the shower. We knew it was handheld and fed from the bath so weren't precious about that, but it was a real struggle to get it to an ok temperature. The hot water was very hot, but low in pressure, so adding cold water seemed to only bring cold water through. Raising the shower head up and down changed the pressure and thus the temperature. Was a fine balance of adding the tiniest amount of cold to get a temperature that didn't scald. We mostly made it work, worth noting the bath itself is a really good size so that's also an option."

"the cottage itself was in a rural place in its own grounds with beautiful views. a short distance away from Aberlour by car. and there is a forest walk that takes around an hour that will take you there on foot. The facilities in the cottage met our expectations comfortable beds, washing machine, iron kitchen utensils....etc.... clean and tidy through out, with rustic furnishings which complimented the cottages era. The cottage was lovely and warm with central heating available throughout. This cottage and location is amazing. The only small discrepancy we had is that after 7/8 hours a day trecking and visiting other places, the sofa could do with something more comfortable to lounge out on, on a evening with my husband it was a bit small for one never mind two and for four adult people it would be a bit of a squeeze……... as the saying goes...…... kick of your shoes and chill.....however we would recommend this cottage for its shear beauty through in and out."

"Huge big house with plenty of room. Great kitchen and bathrooms. Nice fire which we sat around every night with a wee drink and game of Trivial Pursuits. There was the bonus of a home cinema projector. I would say it was a good half an hour to Grantown on Spey and a good 50 mins to Aviemore. We spent most of our time there at the likes of Rothiemurchus and Landmark. There are also many distilleries very close by - Glenlivet is a 5 miniute drive away. It could do with a good spring clean and as the house is so big more than one person is needed to carry out that task. But overall it was clean and tidy when we arrived. There has been some serious money spent in the kitchen and bathrooms and the decor is lovely. The bedrooms could benefit from some wardrobes as hanging space was virtually non existent. The house appears under renovation in the rooms marked private and judging by the standard thus far, the accommodation will end up very nice indeed."

"This was our first booking with Sykes. It will not be our last. I found the cottage online and picked up the phone to book. The whole process was handled extremely well by the young man I spoke to. The cottage itself was extremely well appointed and the owners (who live next door) had left us the makings of a wonderfull Scottish breakfast. We have always had self catering holidays and this was the best equipped cottage I think we have ever had. The owners have thought of everything. The decor was modern and attractive and I cannot think of anything that the cottage lacked. There was plenty to do in the surrounding area and the countryside was beautiful. Aberlour had a small Co op, butchers etc and for a larger shop Elgin is a short drive. I would certainly recommended The Kilt Room and Sykes And I am sure we will be booking again."
