"Not at all what we expected from a 4 star rated cottage . The cottage was grubby !In fact we had to clean the dust from the bathroom radiators/towel rails before we were able to use them. The washing machine dispenser drawer was in a disgusting state in that it was black with mildew and on removing it to wash it the mildew was even worse underneath .The furniture overall was old and shoddy especially in the bedrooms where the wardrobes were so shallow that a normal size coat hanger does not fit in, making it impossible to hang up our clothes !!The equipment in the kitchen left much to be desired and much of it was faulty e.g. even the scissors had a broken handle. The fridge was faulty in that no matter how low we turned it, the food was on the point of freezing. It should be made clear that although there IS shared use of a freezer it is,in fact, in the owners garage which is a good 300 yards down a slope to access. Not helpful for people such as us who all have walking /breathing difficulties!Onto the TV - be aware that this is only a very small 24 inch screen. Certainly not big enough for the size of the room .The roll top bath is very nice but for people with mobility issues is difficult to get in or out of. Some grab rails would make a very useful addition. On a positive note the sofa and chairs in the lounge area was very nice and comfortable to sit on.All in all this cottage needs a complete refurbishment because it could be lovely. All in all we would rate this at no more than 3 star rating."

"This is a character built all oak timber cottage that could make a great holiday home. The one thing that lets it down is it is filled with sale room clutter.Every room is furnished with pieces of bric -a brac, Edwardian furniture and coastal ornaments.they cover every conceivable surface.Window sills ,ledges, table tops, screwed to the walls, hanging from the ceiling. This would not be too bad if they were clean, but everthing is dusty and covered in cobwebs.Up in the rafters are corn dollys and teddy bears that have not been dusted for months. The bedrooms are large but there is no where to put your clothes because all floor space is filled with dainty chairs with soft toys on,writing desks you cant put anything in.wash stands with Victorian jugs on.we had to take a table out of the bathroom with a great array of ferns in to access the bath. All the windows were hung with dusty beige lace curtains eliminating 75% of the light .The first thing my wife did was to take them down and tie back the curtains to let some light in the rooms.Even the small courtyard outside wasn't immune, filled with wooden chairs and broken down benches that couldn't be sat on,plants dying in their troughs. This all drove my wife mad.She would have loved to have spent a month here with a large skip to declutter the place and put some decent lighting in to brighten it up."

"Excellent quirky cottage set near to South Downs. Open plan lounge, kitchen, dining area - bit smaller than expected, especially with 4 people (2 adults & 2 teenagers) - hence reason for 9s rather than 10s throughout. However, quality of bathrooms, kitchen facilities, bed linen and 5-6ft beds soon made up for this and other little extras.TV ok, couldn't get DVD to work though, otherwise all kitchen/bedroom equipment excellent. Loved high ceilings, oak beams/kitchen units - would have been interesting to know original history of building/conversion in house book details.Loved it and ideal for a week. Village of Findon fantastic - 2 great real ale pubs with great food too, excellent Indian restaurant (and other eating places too), brilliant & friendly village shop, butchers/fresh vegetables, tea/cake shop, steak restaurant++++ - amazing facilities for such a small village. Had several walks on South Downs Way (recommend Seven Sisters Nature Reserve), trip to Portsmouth only 1 hr away, Chichester, Beachy Head etc. We all loved it."

"This was the most unique house we have ever stayed in - an absolute delight. We spent last Easter there, giving it 10 out of 10 and no doubt we would have booked it again. However, owing to the fact that half way through our stay the property was sold and the purchasers paid us a rather threatening late night visit, demanding we handed over keys and for us to vacate the property there and then as we were now in fact trespassing, resulting in us being forced to call the police out as we were concerned for the safety of our 5 year old grandchild asleep upstairs, I feel I am unable to give this holiday any sort of positive rating. We left as soon as we could the following morning having been told a locksmith would be arriving to change the lock, breaking down the door if necessary. As far as we understand, this listed property is to be split into two and re-sold, so doubt it will be available to rent again."

"The cottage is very conveniently situated for places of interest in this West Sussex area, with Worthing town center and sea front just a few minutes drive away. We made use of the little group of shops close by, and to have the excellent park across the road where dogs can run off lead is a great asset. In the cottage there are books in the bookshelves, and games and toys tucked away for any younger members of a family. The kitchen, although not large, was well equipped with considerable thought, and throughout the cottage were little touches that all added to making it a welcoming 'home'. The wonderful log fire at the end of the day was a real bonus, all adding to make the week just a little bit special. I hope the cottage and its history will be preserved for many years to come, for many to enjoy as we did."
