Snowdonia National Park is stunning. Whether you just want to appreciate the views or get out in the great outdoors; this is a great place to stay. Here you can choose from a variety of walks, or explore the area by bike. Just outside the village, you will find Meirion Mill, which is a woollen mill with a gift show where the old Mawddwy Railway terminated. This is a charming place for a relaxing break in Wales.

"We visited as a family of 2 adults and 2 children (under 6). The village is great. The house is a little away from the main A road and is very quiet, no road traffic gets into the house. It is 100 yds from the Red Lion, a friendly local pub with 3 well kept real ales and food (we did not eat there). A half-mile away is the Buckley Hotel, which has one real ale and again is friendly and very relaxed. We ate there twice and the food was very good and reasonably priced, I felt overall it was better than the Brigand arms 3 miles away which is good too. I really liked it at the Buckley, even though it was quieter (Tuscan beef is excellent). The nearest shop is a couple of miles away (we did not use the village post office so not sure what is there). The house seems to be 2 cottages knocked into one. It lacks a garden but has an east facing balcony with a great view over a valley, with good walking (up to 3000 feet nearby). The photos on the site make the house look a little more twee than it is. The decor is actually very stylish, being simple, tasteful and not overbearing - especially the fireplace. The accommodation is equipped like a home. The utensils and white goods were very good quality and everything worked, although the toaster was a little idiosynchratic. This made staying here much easier and comfortable and nothing felt cheap or put in as a "make do". The lounge is comfortable with 2 couches. The open plan kitchen is next to the dining room and very amenable and spacious. The toilet is separate to the bathroom and both have sinks. If there was a weakness to point out then it was that the electric shower was a little weak for me personally, but it worked and this is really very minor in the scheme of things. The 3 bedrooms are a decent to big size and each has a double bed. Ours was very comfortable. We really enjoyed staying there even though the weather was poor. We always use the guide of whether we would stay in the house and area again, and we both agreed we would. We thought the rental was very well priced. The kids loved it although the north coast may be a better bet for activities. The owner seems to take great care in ensuring guests are made welcome and get the most from their stay and it really feels like a home for the week. Highly recommended. Aug 2011."

"We were looking for a quiet escape from the Christmas commercialism and we certainly got that. The cottage was cosy, clean and comfortable. The "little extras" were unexpected and much appreciated. The attention to detail is second to none! We even had Christmas decorations throughout the cottage. The owners, Amanda and Richard, were approachable and helpful throughout the booking process and our stay. Dinas Mawddwy is a small village and so conveniently placed to explore nearby coasts and towns. We would definitely consider returning in the summer months to enjoy the idyllic countryside walks. Thank you for a fabulous Christmas break!Nice and warm despite there being snow on the hills outside. Very well equipped and nicely decorated. Great location with excellent pub just round the corner...it was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, everything was brand new, loads of thoughtful little extras, the best welcome pack we've had. It really was a thoroughly enjoyable holiday experience and we would certainly return in the future."

"Arrived to find a wonderful welcome pack. Even the dog was treated. We were met by Suzie a lovely lady who let us in then gave us some time to unpack before coming back to tell us about everything then left us alone to enjoy our stay. The cottage is clean, lovely decorated and well kept. There is a folder telling you how everything works along with maps and leaflets of the area and games and DVD's. Kitchen cleaning products are provided along with tea and coffee. Shower gel and hand soap in the bathroom and hair dryer in the bed room. Everyone in the area is very friendly. Rasta made friends with 3 local boarder collies Patch, sketch and flash. If you are a plane enthusiast then you will love it here. They fly directly over the cottage. Or you can take a 5 min drive to the Bwlch. A great location for the mach loop. "

"After doing a first night review, Skykes got in touch to ask what the problems were. After explaining about the filthy cottage with cobwebs and layers of dust everywhere, the broken fridge door and the bed so uncomfortable it was unusable we had to have one of us sleep on the sofa, we were assured that they would contact the owner to address the problems. The owner disputed what we were saying so Sykes contacted us to let us know and asked us to provide some photos, which we did. I thought that this would mean that Sykes would arrange with the owner to fix the problems as we had provided clear evidence of the problems, however we never heard anything back whatsoever. We left the cottage early to return home as it was a truly depressing place to stay in. Very disappointed that Sykes did not live up to expectations."

"Great location with fantastic views across the countryside from the rear windows and balcony. A river runs right past the rear of the cottage, at the bottom of a steep embankment, very relaxing listening to the water babbling as there is a small waterfall. Garden would benefit from more regular maintenance. We slept in the front bedroom and we would say the mattress is due for replacement as it's uncomfortable. During our stay there was a leak under the kitchen sink and the downstairs cloakroom light didn't work (defective light fitting) - this was being rectified after we vacated the property prior to next guests.Loads of DVDs, cds, books, board games (an excellent Draughts set) and toys provided. High chair is also provided, although we didn't require this, all in all well appointed."
