"12 of us booked the house for a family long weekend. We had different ages in our group from 4 year olds up to 70+.The house was very interesting and full of character. It provided everything we needed from an equipment point of view and the kitchen was very well stocked to meet all our needs. The living room accommodated all of us comfortably and there were plenty of areas to sit and find some quiet time too! Bradnop itself is a very small hamlet and very quiet but you are within a short 5min trip to all the amenities you could possibly need in Leek. You are also within 20-30mins drive of Dovedale, Ilam, Peak Wildlife Park (excellent value for kids!) and the lovely Rudyard Lake. The hot tub was large, clean, well looked after and very welcome as a relaxing evening soak.In general it was clean and tidy when we arrived but the rooms and furniture are slightly old and getting a little shabby, but with young children this wasn't a bad thing really as we weren't constantly on edge making sure they didn't break anything.Couple of issues to note for future reference...the hot tub didn't heat up on the first day. Be prepared to only use this on day 2. It is also located in the garden with no overhead cover and overlooks the small village green by the Parish Hall so easily in view from lane and for people arriving for events in the hall! Not a problem really but maybe for those a bit more shy?One of the bedrooms is only accessible by going through another bedroom. Ok with kids. Not so good when with people you aren't as familiar with! The main bathroom did leak a little into the dining room as the shower screen didn't quite cover the main splashing. No serious issues from this but just to be aware. Also the main dining table only seats 8 people. Not so great when there is 12 of you (as advertised as the normal occupancy) wanting to enjoy each other's company over dinner. There is another table in the kitchen area that seats 4-6 and although in sight isn't next to the other table and we were advised not to move furniture around.Other than those niggles we were very satisfied and would consider S50586again."

"This is a great quality property but it is right on top of a busy A road. We visited during the really hot summer of 2018 and like to sit in the garden after a day’s walk. Unfortunately, the proximity of the road meant we choose not to use the gardens. When indoors if the windows were opened the traffic noise was again intrusive. I suspect in cooler months and especially in winter when there is less desire to be in the garden or to have the windows open the impact of the traffic noise would be significantly reduced. There are many positives to this property. It was extremely clean and very well furnished. There is an open plan kitchen/dinner which is spacious with everything supplied that we needed including a dishwasher. Easy to understand instructions were available for the oven. The lounge although small was just sufficient to take 3 people. Games and books were available. It has a reasonable size TV although the remote was very temperamental. The main bedroom had many units all of high quality and the mattress was extremely comfortable. The second bedroom is small with a single bed and limited storage. The bathroom was excellent, nicely proportioned, again quality fittings and included a shower within the bath.Outside there is off road parking that adjoins the rear garden. Gardens are not large but we never stayed in them anyway. What we did find odd was that the rear garden is wider that the rear of the cottage resulting in the neighbour’s lounge window actually looking onto the cottage garden. The general location is close to Belpar which provides easy access to shops/restaurants and supermarket. Being in the Amber Valley there are many delightful walks within a 15-minute drive. I would recommend the area. If this cottage was moved to a quieter location I would recommend it."

"Altho this bungalow had superb views and a brilliant location. We were not impressed with how the garden seemed to be a walk through for dog walkers! I was standing at kitchen window in pj's several mornings and people with digs were cutting thru a gap in back garden and walking thru garden and down drive! I was v shocked by this as it isn't stated in description it is a public walk thru!? If it was we wudnt have booked it! We have 3 young children and don't find this safe for them to be playing in garden with strangers walking thru! Plus out dog wasn't impressed! Your description actually states it stand in it's 'own'grounds?! I would not describe it as modern either with old tired sardines and drawers, one of which fell off when opening it and knob fell off in other room when opening drawer!( not great first impression) It could be a lovely holiday bungalow if a little bit tlc was shown to it. Yes it had a back door to garden but we had no key for this either? There was also a smell of damp, particularly in twin bedroom when heater was on, we discovered in corner of bedroom that damp had been covered up with paint! U cud see as it was a diffetent type and it showed! This is not great with 2 asthma sufferers in the bungalow! We couldn't contact the owner prior to arriving as no one answered the phone or returned our answer phone messages. We got a little list on arrival and phone number again, still no answer! There is a mobile number we found in a folder later in the hol, however this number not on the confirmation details we received. Luckily we asked some locals and found it and bungalow was open! We didn't see or hear from owner whilst there. We won't book again as garden is not enclosed for small children or dogs and is on a road! Plus the walk thru issue."

"Everything about this cosy cottage is just perfect. Cosy and sweet with all mod cons. Everything that was provided was of the highest quality - towels, bed linen, kitchen equipment- and brand new too. Beautiful bathroom and fantastic kitchen all new and modern with the lounge very cosy and sweet. This little cottage, so obviously lovingly renovated by the owners, far exceeded our expectations. Easy to find, Turnditch was a great base for our walks, for shopping and for relaxing; we found that no matter what our activity, everything was no more than 30mins away. The supermarket only 10minutes away, the local pub a nice 10 minutes walk, and a local butcher right across the road! We spent our days walking and our evenings relaxing at the cottage. The hard floors are perfect for us walkers, straight in the house with no worries and easy to clean. The heated floors were a wonderful bonus. Our dog LOVED the warm floors. We loved relaxing in the breakfast area, a lovely light space for breakfast and for those afternoon marathon games sessions. We had taken plenty, but there were lots of classic games provided too. We loved S87143, and we will be going back."

"Lovely stay and lovely hosts. Spotlessly clean, high quality furnishings and fittings. We noted the access through the gardens by neighbours but wasn’t a problem. Garden felt secure and neighbours were lovely. The road is busy but only at rush hour, and there is a slight gap in the side garden gate onto the road due to the slope, but we put a dog bed in front it if to stop our beagle sticking her head through- job done! There’s nothing that could be improved. It is a shame that the pub opposite is no longer trading but there are 2 more in walking distance and plenty of dog walks through fields, but the river and steam railway. There is plenty of space to park one car at the rear of the property but the empty pub oposite provides the opportunity to park other vehicles if needed. We would have appreciated the use of the annexe for additional living/ sleeping room. Our 13 yr old might have brought a friend... and the living room is a little cosy for 3 to relax in. The kitchen and dining area are lovely and bright, lots of space and storage, very well equipped."
