"The cottage is very much as described it is well equipped and comfortable. The owners are very nice and friendly people. Although there is mention of the owner possibly living below in a basement flat. The fact that they have to enter the flat by coming past the main house at the front and rear did concern us slightly. A couple of facts that we believe should be in the particulars are, the description shows the smaller bedroom as a double but in reality the bed is only 4 feet wide. The height of the ceilings in the downstairs rooms is very low and the beams are about 5 foot ten inches which meant that because both men in our party were over 6 feet tall it was a very uncomfortable week. We believe it is fair to add this to the particulars as we would not have chosen this cottage had we known. The local pubs were very nice we preferred the Abbey which is a short drive back towards Buckfastleigh. The walk to the Tradesmans is as described in distance approximately a quarter of a mile however it is up a one in five (very steep) hill. The property is really nice and the setting is lovely with a small stream opposite the front entrance across a small lane. It is at the foot of a steep hill on all sides so there aren't any views to speak of. The property is nicely located for getting on the M5 (5 minutes away) which gives good access to a lot of sightseeing locations."

"Firstly the positives- nice location, picturesque village, close to pub, local walks and shops nearby, nice historical building.Negatives- not really suitable for a winter break, really cold, had to keep very noisy boiler on 24/7, did buy wood for the woodburner and had a fire in every night but heat seems to escape out rather than in, lots of condensation with windows being very wet, couldn't open the windows, damp smell, used own towels, not able to park in front of the cottage as its first come first served so had to park in various locations around the village, no garden for our little dog to explore (front door goes straight out onto the not so busy main village road but at times cars do speed around the corner) and no means of communication (no telephone signal, wifi or telephone), it's actually nice not having some form of communication but felt vulnerable should we need to make contact in the event of an emergency. We chose the cottage for its location to Plymouth as I had work there and for this it was perfect and I know my review sounds negative and I believe the cottage would really suit a couple in the summer and I can imagine the village to be a lovely and sociable place at that time, so all in all we had a nice weekend but we have stayed at better places for an equal price."

"We have stayed in quite a few cottages through Snaptrip as we know they are of very high quality. We chose the above cottage for a family break over the new year and were not disappointed, the standard of accommodation was excellent, fantastic upstairs living room area that had so much space for everyone including a tiny 18 month old who loved being able to run up and down, stair gates provided and locks on cupboards meant Mum could relax and leave him to it. So much is provided from the lovely hamper in the kitchen to the toys and games for kids and adults and with an endless supply of logs you had to tear yourself away from the cosy lounge. Despite the awful weather we managed to have some great walks and visit lovely villages on Dartmoor, our location meant we were close to everything Dartmoor has to offer. Louise 'the owner' was very helpful with suggestions for local pubs and even gave us a takeaway menu for a curry house that would deliver ( amazed they got through with all the local flooding). We will definitely return to S44796, maybe a springtime visit. Thanks for a great stay!"

"We stayed at S44796 at the start of April. The house was fabulous for us - me, my husband and our 4 children (7yrs, 6yrs, 3yrs and 1yr). It was immaculately presented on arrival, including the delicious Victoria Sponge we had read about in previous reviews!! There were plenty of towels, lovely White Company toiletries, a welcome hamper with lots of very helpful items, tissues in most of the rooms and incredibly comfortable beds! Our children loved playing in the garden and our baby was kept busy and entertained with the toy basket. The owner had checked with us prior to arrival whether we needed stairgates and they were up for us when we got there. The highchair and cot were both in very good, clean condition as well. Everything was clean and beautifully presented! The owner was absolutely lovely as well. We loved the location - very pretty area and we did a lot of exploring each day.Such a great holiday and we would definitely stay again - and would certainly recommend a stay at S44796!"

"Beautiful location close to excellent Dartmoor walks and other attractions. Booking was easy and advertising materials very accurate. Owners friendly and helpful. Accommodation clean, comfortable and well laid out. Super pet friendly and safe garden for 3 dogs. Loved the layout of the stepping stones and close proximity to country life, including the Alpacas and cows!! We loved spending time in the hot tub although we did have to clean some 'scum marks' from around the inside surface. The cream tea on arrival was lovely with home-made scones too!! Lovely modern decor in a stone built building. Our stay was amazing and we will always remember it with fondest thoughts. Parking for 3 cars was a bonus. I even remembered some musical notes from many years ago and had a little tinkle on the piano's ivory keys!! Have already shown lots of friends photographs and recommended that they visit!!"
