"Hay on Wye is a lovely area; 'Harry's House' overlooks the River Wye and so SHOULD be idyllic. The property falls down on several counts... It is reasonably clean and reasonably well equipped inside, but, only reasonably. However, there were insufficient number of towels when we arrived.. they were expecting only 2 people and so laid out towels for this number. Our daughter joined us for 2 nights and so we had to ring to ask for extra. We arrived in a gloriously warm spell of weather.. Harry's House is a modern town house over 3 floors, three of the bedrooms being on the 2nd floor and are overwhelmingly hot. There wasn't a fan provided, although to their credit, once we asked, the managers obliged by buying one the next day.Our main criticism however, is the poor condition of the 2 balconies; the lower is mediocre but, because the bank below was SO overgrown it felt uncomfortable to sit and look at the river. The upper balcony is filthy, with spiders webs and dust etc. accumulated from many months. The lower balcony is a little cleaner, but again was tatty with a grubby cover thrown over, I presume, a barbecue.... I didn't really want to touch any of it. We were disappointed as really don't feel this property warrants a five star rating. I would welcome your comments please."

"It's a lovely property, it suited our party for our annual get together, the hot tub is a nice addition but if windy makes it very cold to stay in as hot tub exposed at front of propety to give you the fabulous views of the country side and cows. And sometime the tractors working in the fields.Property owner was very friendly and very helpful. If any disabled in party be aware no toilet on ground level only by bedrooms on second floor.Very cosy snug with plenty of wood in shed , was very welcomed in evening to watch telly and play card games.Kitchen very well equipped with everything we needed for all our cooking needs, and we made lovely meals. As only 9 of us we fitted lovely around dinning table as we eat and watched the wildlife and cats outside (There about 20 cats living around and in farm house next door that come and see if you will feed them but don't attempt to come indoors even if doors open). We missed the sign to the lane to get to the Barn, directions are very accurate on Sat nav. Muddy lanes but once parked up we didn't move all weekend so wasn't a problem. Overall we would come back but only in summer to experience the Barn at it's best. Thank you for having us."

"We had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at Mill Cottage. Our hosts lived just a handful of metres away in the main farm house and were extremely friendly and accommodating, not batting an eyelid when we turned up at almost 11pm and happily showing us how to work the heating etc. They'd also kindly provided a welcome basket with some local bread, cheese and cider, as well as their own homemade raspberry jam which made for a delicious breakfast. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and wonderfully cosy. It was well located with a small village nearby and easy access to the Brecon Beacons and the beautiful Herefordshire countryside. We were also told that we could freely wander around the farm and take ourselves off for walks across the fields which was lovely. One thing to note: we had dinner at the Nag's Head on our hosts' recommendation although when we got there they didn't have any vegetarian options without prior notice so make sure you phone ahead if you have dietary requirements - the pub landlords were really friendly and welcoming, and the food that we did have was really delicious so it's worth a visit."

"We had a lovely relaxing week at The Coach House. Our two children (7 & 4) adored the outside space and spent a lot of time running around burning off some energy in the huge garden. The inside space is just as fantastic as the outside space, we really cannot fault it and would stay again. We never found a local shop but had a supermarket delivery whilst we were there so had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The far, shop that's recommmended by the owners in the visitors book is lovely but very pricey. There is so much to do in and around Herefordshire. If you are visiting with small children then visit the Butterfly zoo and maze. The national trust properties nearby are fantastic, we are annual pass holders as they are great for events with the little ones. The Brecon Becons are stunning, you must visit if you stay here, it's under an hour drive and worth the trip."

"A really comfortable cottage in an idyllic location. The property had a lot of character and charm with a large garden and stream nearby. Wonderful dark skies at night and close proximity to country walks. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive on our peace and quiet. The nearby village is handy for pub meals and local shop. We enjoyed fantastic sunny warm weather and enjoyed seeing many historical and natural sites nearby. One minor problem was the access lane being very uneven which some low slung vehicles might have difficulty with. However overall the standard of accommodation was very high and I would recommend it as an excellent quiet retreat in beautiful surroundings."
