"We had an amazing stay at the end of August - the weather had turned, so a few drizzly, murky days, but that didn't dampen our enjoyment. When the sun did shine it highlighted the beauty of the cottage and its surroundings. This is a great base to explore local attractions and those a little further afield. It really is in the middle of nowhere but this afforded us with close encounters with an owl, hundreds of rabbits (only a slight exaggeration!), red and roe deer, bats and midges! One night I stepped out of the back door with the dog for his last 'business' outing before tucking up in the gorgeous single beds with a large double duvet each, to be greeted by a pair of green eyes staring back at me from the bank behind the cottage... took me a while to realise it was one of 'pet' deer, but it just stood there looking at us, as if to say 'Any supper going?' Thankfully the dog was on his lead, having had a close encounter with the many rabbits the night before, so I pulled him back in and shut the door and we went out the front via the patio instead! On a clear night, with no light pollution, you can sit for hours looking up at the stars... or if it's cloudy just put the Christmas lights on!The cottage is beautiful, well equipped with some lovely little 'thoughts' like tablets for the dishwasher, spare poo bags and even a bed for the dog.. though he moaned it was too small for him, just as well we'd brought his memory foam bed!Really the only thing that stops this from being totally and utterly perfect is the heating system - whilst I applaud their attempt at being eco-friendly and cost-effective that is one noisy beastie! Even with it turned off at night there is still the noise of a pump going intermittently, which with the bedroom door shut is bearable but earplugs may come in handy! An awesome cottage, in an idyllic location that helped us both relax and recharge the batteries :o)"

"House itself is adequate and it is in a quiet location, garden is nice with bird feeders and even saw a red squirrel feeding after filling the feeders. The property is sadly let down by the owners lack of attention to major faults although reminded many times by previous tenants. On arrival we had to trudge our belongings through the back door as the key for the front door is partly broken, this is the main exit and obviously a fire hazard as it couldn't be opened easily. Also fire related is the overuse of extension leads my grandson's room had one squashed tight against the bed which could have caused overheating, house needs a fire inspection asap. The toilet seat in the main bathroom is broken and bath in the main bathroom is unusable as the bathplug is about 3 times smaller than the hole!! My daughter was looking for a relaxing soak during the week but no luck!! No information on bin collections at all. Kitchen is good size but sadly lacking in basic equipment, house is for 6 people but only 3 cereal bowls, microwave but no microwavable bowls, no ovenware (serving dishes, casseroles or baking trays) although a phone call resulted in a delivery of some plastic boxes? , metal baking trays and casseroles on Wednesday. Neighbours we spoke to said they were inundated with tenants complaints about the property and the lack of concern shown by the house owners. Not impressed by the owners who appear to ignore repeated comments showing what is required."

"This house is almost a great choice. Unfortunately it is in need of attention. Numerous minor maintenance issues which should be addressed including; no description of where to find the key-safe, loose/malfunctioning door handles and locks, light bulbs not working, one bedroom heater not working, one double mattress long past it's best, no battery in the wall clock, no instructions for generating hot water- all small things which are easy fixes and make a difference. The stairs and upstairs floors were very creaky and noisy. The first person up in the house will wake everyone else immediately. Don't know how it could be fixed but it is a pain when you have young kids. The bigger issue for us was that the house was cold throughout our 3 day stay. Even with all additional heaters switched on, the downstairs never got above 17 degrees and was often less. It seems that there is little or no insulation and a dated, uneconomical and ineffective heating system. The external doors and windows are rotting, draughty and need replaced. The upstairs did warm up enough for the kids but we sat each night downstairs with jackets and/or blankets. In spring/summer/autumn it is probably not an issue but we were visiting for skiing, the outside temp was around -5 to 0 degrees and the house just isn't able to combat those conditions. We live in the highlands and are used to the weather, our own house isn't very warm."

"We enjoyed our stay and the accommodation and location was good. However the house was lacking the little things we would have expected in self catering. We had to buy our own baking trays for cooking in the oven. There were no dishwasher tablets, bin liners etc and there were only two wine glasses. Small things I know. Also the floor in the lounge was filthy under the sofas and we had two toddlers who played on the floor and their toys kept going under the furniture and coming out covered in dust and fluff. Lastly, the outside general and recycle bin were both overflowing when we arrived on Friday and no information anywhere about what to do with them. I phoned the caretaker, who I incidentally, found very helpful. She thought they were collected on the Monday. By that time we had lots of rubbish of our own to add to the bins and had to leave out in bags. Needless to say, animals had got at them and the neighbours were not happy with the mess everywhere. I do not think new guests should arrive to overflowing bins and have to tidy up other peoples' rubbish when on holiday.Despite all this it was a good holiday."

"Set in an enviable location in the village of Lhanbryde, overlooking farmland, S79045 is a spacious bungalow with every contemporary convenience and appointed to a high standard designed for comfort. Instructions for appliances and heating are comprehensively described in the folder, along with useful information on the area.We were impressed by the careful attention to detail and Brian kept in touch before and after our visit. While we were there we were in the capable and courteous hands of Brian's Dad, who lives nearby.Lhanbryde boasts an award- winning butcher and a friendly local convenience store, a five minute walk from the house. A short drive takes you to Fochabers, Elgin and Lossiemouth and though the dolphins were not out to play at Spey Bay we did see an osprey. In the evening we took advantage of the lovely view from the patio to watch the sun setting over the fields. We would highly recommend S79045 for a relaxing get- away in beautiful Morayshire."
