Cromarty is made up of a combination of Georgian merchant houses and fishermen’s cottages. From here you can cross over to Nigg in the summer by taking the ferry across the water. There are plenty of other pretty towns and villages to explore on the peninsula and plenty of unspoilt vistas to appreciate. In the nearby Moray Firth a pod of bottlenose dolphins are often spotted playing in the water, and for nature enthusiasts, there are two RSBP Nature Reserves on the Island.

"The downstairs of the property is dark & dingy. No welcome pack to advise how to use heating or lighting. The cooker is so old that the numbers have disappeared for saying which ring you are using and the temperature. Stairs between kitchen & lounge have rounded chunks of wood over them making them slidy & a trip hazard. You have to walk through dark lounge to locate the light switch, many switches on the panel which do not seem to be connected to anything. Only one light fixture on stairs then you have to walk through upper lounge to bedroom to get a side light at bed as no bulb or switch for ceiling fitting. Low ceiling height upstairs, I am only 5ft 4 & bumped into ceiling. Lamp on deck hanging off wall. No hot/cold indicator on any of the taps. Bath hot tap would not turn, plumber had to be called. Only a two seater sofa in lounge which is ancient. Only a two seater chair on deck - this property is advertised for 3. Garden grounds not kept, over run with weeds. Downstairs full of dusty junk, dark rope put around everything, the ceiling, shelving even the toilet roll holder - dust catchers everywhere!!! Lounge windows not cleaned. The best part was the view and the open access to the beautiful clean beach - the locals were so friendly & helpful. Many lovely walks from the door."

"I had a very comfortable weekend stay with my dog. The cottage is just round the corner from the Links seafront and ideal for dog walking and general walking and access to the beach. Also many town food outlets and pub/restaurants in easy walking distance. During my stay I appreciated the quiet location despite being on a main street. The cottage feels like a detached house although "attached" to a property next door on one wall. Well equipped and with good Wi-fi and Blu-ray player a bonus. Lighting could be better in some areas especially the kitchen and lounge. I was comfortable but a large group might find the kitchen seating restrictive for main meals. The patio table at front of house not ideal for main meals. Easy parking on street round the corner - parking right outside only really suitable for loading/unloading due to near blind corner and no pavement. I would stay again and recommend for up to 4 adults or 2 adults/3 kids if eating in. Double bed and bathroom on ground level - stair not good for disabled. Shower room and 2 bright and airy bedrooms upstairs."

"Cottage is in an excellent location close to the beach, a good pub just round the corner and an excellent restaurant (Sun Dancer you need to book) near the harbour. Parkings not very good, the cottage is in a narrow cul de sac, we had to park in a nearby street. The cottage itself is well equipped but in need of a refurb. Taps loose in bathroom, socket loose near fire in sitting room, toilet loose, silicone in bathroom has black mould on it and I’m not sure if it has a septic tank but there was a very distinctive smell.Beds comfortable, sitting rooms ok to sit in when not going out. One big concern was that it only has one entrance/exit which is a bit of a concern if there was a fire. Didn’t notice if there was a smoke alarm, fire extinguisher or fire blanket but there is a carbon monoxide alarm. If you get the time check out Channery Point to watch the dolphins but you need to check the tides."

"Balintore has an award winning beach ,some nice walks and is close to some lovely towns and visitor attractions making it a nice area in which to stay. The house is a strange mix with a large kitchen and upstairs lounge which are quite pleasant. The bedrooms and bathrooms suffer from relatively poor quality/overused bedding and towels and an investment in these and improved curtains would improve things. Some of the windows appear to be locked with no keys apparent which could represent a bit of a fire risk. The Aga and central heating allowed us to enjoy good warmth.Mr Skinner, the owner , was friendly, attentive and well intentioned. Were he to invest as suggested, to improve certain quality items, the justification of the relatively high weeks rental would be enhanced. The house has potential but needs some monies spent on it."

"A very comfortable cottage with easy access to fortrose and rosemarkie. It was fully equipped and a bonus that the wifi was working despite being emailed to say that it would not be available. The only down side to was having to clean cooker, fridge and freezer before using. The cleanliness in the rest of the cottage was acceptable. Despite having to clean on arriving it did not spoil our experience in the cottage. It did miss a welcome pack and the information pack could be placed in a folder rather than just pieces of paper being stapled together. The icing on the cake was the weather which behaved and we had brilliant sunshine the whole week. We would certainly consider returning for another holiday to this cottage."
