"The holiday for both myself and my husband was very satisfactory, in that the disabled facilities were second to none, and that made the holiday more enjoyable. There was plenty of space to get around easily and with minimum effort, which was highly appreciated. The entertainment facilities were adequate although most of our time was spent visiting various locations. Equipment both physical and electrical was more than adequate for our needs. Wendy was very kind and made us feel totally at ease and fully explained the required fire regulations and safety procedures etc. The location is wonderfully quiet and a must for anyone wishing to visit and explore the area. Wendy also told us that should we require anything or need something sorting out, she was on hand - this was very re-assuring as my husband is wheelchair-bound"

"A beautiful and very well modernised old farmhouse, with a lovely garden - though too cold on May Day weekend to sit out - masses of eating and cooking equipment, comfortable everything. Two quibbles - the instructions for the gas-fired stove were incomplete - no diagram - and a lot of slightly nerve-wracking fiddling about was required to light it. The timings for the central heating and hot water could have been written up, to save wasting energy, and instructions - again - on how to change them provided. It was a pity that there were only two showers. After decades of holidaying in self-catering houses, we have found that the nicest places to arrive in offer a carton of milk, tea, coffee and sugar and (this is rare but memorable) home-baking and/or a bottle of wine."

"On arrival found cotton bud on floor and hairs in and under en-suite - hair in bathroom on second floor - oven contained a glass dish full of thick grease and fat (which we cleaned) - barbeque was filthy and had cooked food left inside - didn't use(but would have liked to) because it needed a good clean - stains on pillow in twin bedded room - broken chairs in kitchen had to refit frames before sitting down on them (they need attention) - we agree with previous comments about the flies and would like to add that on two occasions we were visited by a large rat obviously attracted by the remains left in the barbeque. However we did enjoy a lovely holiday in a nice part of Cumbria/Yorkshire and even the weather was kind to us."

"The owner could have done no more for use then she did and the bird feed in her garden, seen from S14758 was entertaining with woodpeckers, coal tits etc.S14758 was over equipped for us, ( a personal thing, we like knobs and switches not apps )yet for most people it will be almost perfect. We did miss a conventional oven and we do like to cook on gas, yet if you are into induction hods and other semi automatic stuff (lighting, heating, shower ) and a wood fire stove, then the place is great. We really enjoyed the wood fire which we used by turning off the other heating or to very low.The ethos of the Bryer is good, with highly insulated walls and solar slates on the roof thus one knows that ones carbon footprint is low."

"Fantastic house in a great location but directions are misleading and the house is not named on the outside so very difficult to find on a dark winter night after a 3 hour drive, very frustrating! Put up a name plaque on the outside and save your guests a frustrating time searching for the house. We loved the indoor space and the wonderful, spacious kitchen but would have preferred 3 showers, bath only in one bathroom is indulgent but not required in a 5 bedroom rental property which sleeps 10 people, bit of a queue for showers in the morning. Would definitely go back, great time had by all even 4 teenagers who had no wifi or internet access for 3 days, that says a great deal about the property."
