"The worst cottage I have stayed in! No hot tub so false advertising which was previously mentioned from other visitors. Snooker table was torn and the cushions were taped on to the table so it was impossible to have a game of snooker. Again false advertisingSauna did not give out heat despite leaving it on for over an hour. You cannot sit on the living room sofa's due to the cushions being worn out which resulted to us watching a movie on the floor. Again this was mentioned on previous reviewsThe stairs to go upstairs to the bedrooms creaks which kept waking up childNo blanket or pillow case covers Small green insects on the wall of the living room Plates and glasses had a smell of off fish"

"We had a fantastic time staying here. It was beautiful inside and out. The cottage was really lovely and felt so warm and welcoming and due to the ideal location we could head out each morning for a pre-breakfast walk. We loved the converted stables for the kitchen and dining area (my little girl doesn't see why we can't have that in our house.. shame our is a new build :( ) The bedrooms were all cosy and we really liked the shuttered windows. The manager very quickly made us feel welcome on greeting us and my husband enjoyed many a chat with the grounds keeper who could tell him all about Byers Green. I honestly couldn't recommend it any more highly. Thank you for such a great stay!"

"This cottage is in a stunning location and has the added bonus of a swimming pool. The things that let it down were the seriously uncomfortable beds and sofas. The bathroom had no soap and the shower pressure was awful. The shower curtain was grubby and the bath mat was torn and well past its best. We had 1 and a half toilets rolls for our one week stay. The kitchen utensils were very poor quality, and again no soap to be found. The vibrations from the washing machine created an earthquake on the ground floor and woke our baby upstairs. We would stay here again because it is a beautiful rural retreat. We would just pack differently next time and use the washing machine during the day !"

"A wonderful place to stay if you're looking for solitude, beautiful scenery and want to be close to nature and wildlife. It's the only place I've seen hares close up!S24693 is warm and cosy thanks to underfloor heating regulated by room thermostats. Modern kitchen and appliances make life a breeze. The showers and bathrooms are top notch. If you're keen to learn about the industrial heritage of this part of County Durham then you'll be fascinated by the history of The Waskerley Way and inspired to walk or bike it.Talk to the local farmers to get a real flavour of what life was like for them and their families who have lived here for centuries."

"Lovely property and welcoming, helpful owners. They had left so many unexpected little extras in the cottage including dog bowls (and a treat!), tea, coffee, sugar, plastic bowls etc for our toddler. It made life so much easier when arriving with two little ones! Huge thank you to the owners for doing their best to block off the stairs for our 2yr old as she developed quite an interest in them and they are quite steep so not ideal for little people. The property was spacious and the beds were comfortable with clean, fresh bedding and towels left for us. The washer/dryer was perfect for a family with kids as they inevitably make a mess!"
