"I seldom review holiday accommodation, however I feel impelled to do so with S14792 for several reasons. I include both positive and negative points in my review. Overall, I feel S14792 is over-priced for what is offered and that the emphasis on comfort is somewhat overplayed, and I do not deem it to be 'romantic' as advertised in some locations online. For this price range, I expect more in terms of the decor, the quality of the fixtures and fittings, as well as a more effective heating system and the presence of a small welcome such as a pint of local milk or loaf of local bread. The wood burner is simply not enough to heat both the main room and the water during winter. I would also illustrate that I am happy to put on layers and heat my own home in an environmentally conscious way, but given the price and that I was on a much-needed break, a more effective or indeed efficient heating system should be present. I hold the view that being environmentally friendly need not compromise ones comfort, but at S14792 this is the case. At this price point, I would simply not recommend this accommodation to friends or family, as you will have a more comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable stay elsewhere. Positive points include that the property is less than an hours drive from Newcastle upon Tyne, there is a co-op supermarket within walking distance and a good local pub which serves a very good Sunday lunch. Up to two dogs are allowed in the accommodation and the owner can provide additional sheets or blankets for furniture. Furthermore, the owners of the property are knowledgeable about the local area."

"Perfect location for easy access into the Dales by car & nearby Towns. Almost every amenity you would want in nearby Catterick Garrison & Richmond.Great we could take 2 Working Cocker Spaniels into the cottage but it was a surprise to find requests on both bedroom doors not to allow them in either. Fortunately we came prepared with 2 crates that we could let them sleep in at night & if necessary put them in during the evenings in the living area. Wonderful dog walking country over the road from the cottage in the mornings & both neighbours full of advice where to go for other walks, shops, food etc.Village pub a disappointment as not serving food at all. Avoid the Fish & Chips from the Tuesday night van that parks outside!Owners welcome touches appreciated ....Taylor's of Harrogate Coffee, Chocolate Chip Cookies & Vale of Belvoir Raspberry Lemonade went down well. The living area sofa set up with such small back support really wasn't that comfortable even with cushions. It would be better to have seating with high backs in our opinion. No parking issue in the drive, if a little tight! No issues with parked vehicles in front of the cottage on the access lane.New garden furniture arrived during our stay so nice to sit outside in the morning sun having breakfast. Thanks for letting us change our Feb booking for a May one with no loss as we couldn't travel because of 'The Beast from the East'!"

"the property was damp, fusty with lose tiles in the bathroom, grout missing out of tiles in the shower; rusty shower drain and rusty shower rack. Toilet seats and lids were lose. The cooker hood leaked water when switched on fully. The property is very damp especially in the 'master' bedroom. On arrival after 4pm there was no heating switched on and the propert felt like an empty home. Everything is designed to 'encourage' the holiday maker not to stay in the property. The sofa was very uncomfortable. There are not real storgae faciltieis for you clothes other than one small tall boy. Most of the kitchen cupboards were empty and the amount of crokeryand cutlerywas very basic. The property is described as luxury and during peak season attracts approximately £700+ for fees, it is barely worth half of this. Finally, the property is just off an unadopted track which becomes like a car park at tea time and week ends and makes it difficult to egress."

"We have just stayed at S37795 for 10 days and could quite happily have extended our holiday. The kitchen, although small, is well kitted out including a washing machine and full sized fridge freezer plus all utensils. The bed was super comfy, plus bedroom had full length mirror and a good amount of hangers in the wardrobe, which is fab. The lounge was quite cosy with lots of lovely finishing touches and a nice little conservatory all gave a homely feel. Our only gripe was the parking! Although it states that there is designated parking for the cottage in the description, this is mostly taken up by customers going to the pub right opposite, or customers parking right outside the kitchen window, which felt quite intrusive. But we would definitely stay here again, as this is not a major issue, but I feel it should be mentioned. As I say, we would absolutely stay at S37795 again and definitely recommend it"

"We spent a long weekend at Poppy Cottage. First impressions were great, the only downside is that it is located on a slightly busy through road. The cottage was clean and comfortable and very cosy. Two great pubs within 50 meters either side of the cottage and lovely walks from the door. Richmond is a 10 minute drive away. The main bedroom is big and really nicely decorated. The second bedroom is small and two single beds fit snugly in an L shape. The bathroom is downstairs, this did not bother us at all but might be an issue for some. The Swan is more of a gastro pub, very nicely decorated but we did not feel so welcome there. The Angel is where the locals eat and drink, but a bit more down to earth. Overall a lovely weekend spent in a glorious part of the country. Only reason we would not return is we like to discover different areas when we go away for the weekends."
