"Whilst a magnificant example of Victorian engineering, this very unique property is in need of some love and attention from its owner. The property is up for sale so perhaps this is the reason why any recent expenditure on it has been kept to a minimum? So much is showing signs of deterioration (broken dishwasher, TV in kitchen, overgrown and unkempt garden containing just two faded, green plastic chairs; washing line broken and unusable) plus the refuse bins had not been collected from the previous occupants and, consequently, ended up overflowing during our stay! The house was not clean; despite this being a common complaint from previous visitors an alleged change of cleaners had done nothing to remove the dog hairs which were everywhere - do not walk around this house with bare feet or just in socks!Three half-used toilet rolls and hand soaps to cover six toilets/bathrooms/en suites! No 'welcome' pack and we even had to buy our own corkscrew which we left at the house for future users. The bedrooms have no curtains so expect to be woken by the very early morning sun.Our post-holiday complaint was referred to the owner but without any admission or recognition that he had failed to deliver what is advertised about this property."

"We had a fantastic holiday in S16041 - really relaxing and welcoming. There were the two of us and our 2 year old and 6 year old and they had a great time too. The place is comfortable and feels well looked after. The kids loved playing with Holly and Meg (the dogs), as well as admiring the ponies and cows in nearby fields. I loved playing with the Pizza oven. I never quite got it right, but I think that's down to practice more than anything. They definitely tasted better than the frozen ones! There's loads of things to do in the area that aren't too far away. We would definitely recommend the National Memorial Arboretum (surprisingly great for young children) which was about 20 minutes drive. We're National Trust members, so we spent a lot of time visiting those properties, and there's plenty to chose from. There's no Wi-Fi and very patchy mobile signal, which is great for feeling disconnected from the world, but did cause a slight hiccup when we couldn't check that somewhere was open (it was closed cause of high winds!) so we nearly had a wasted journey. The DVD player was also rather complicated to figure out!"

"The tower is beautiful, comfortable and well furnished. One of the most interesting places I've stayed! The communal areas were clean and comfortable. Excellent kitchen and the top floor games room and snug were great for chatting and catching up. When we arrived, the bedrooms and en suite bathrooms weren't in the best of condition - clearly used sheets on some of the beds, old bars of soap on sinks from previous guests etc. Some of our party stripped the beds and requested new sheets the following morning as the existing ones were stained. The underfloor heating wasn't working in one of the bedrooms, which made it quite uncomfortable. Some people may have found the lack of blinds in the lower floor bedrooms and bathrooms a bit awkward in temrs of privacy too. I think they could improve the performance of their caretaker in these areas. However, communal areas were spotless and cooking/dining facilities were good. Overall, pretty good, and the caretaker did come to sort the issues highlighted so it wasn't a massive issue."

"S16058 is a stunning building with amazing views. It was a great weekend with all the home comforts that we could wish for. There are A LOT of stairs and everything is on different floors. This makes for difficult living especially with a big group and small children. Also a lot of the technology didn't seem to be working or was too complex for us to work out - such as the sound system in the bathroom and the timers on the lights in various locations. Curtains in the bedrooms would have been helpful too.But the owner is more than helpful and spent a lot of time with us tweaking the heating and hot water - he couldn't do enough to help so we probably should have made more use of him!A lot of flies on the top floor - mostly dead thankfully but a very odd thing to find, hopefully it's not an ongoing problem."

"A lot of things were not working, intercom, surround sound master bedroom, heating in bedroom with twin beds, heating in lounge on top floor, no main light in single bedroom, stairs very unsafe on the window side, two of the window safety catches on top floor broke allowing windows to be opened fully (low windows at young child's level) jug and can opener both broke, tv/dvd in kitchen not working, lock on front door not safe, and no bolts on inside to secure. two window panes in bedroom broke, kitchen hob broke. We did text Rob with list above but still have had no response from him. We are foster carers and tok young children with us, we did not feel safe at the tower, and do not think we received value for money, we stay in over 5 cottages a year and this is the first time we have felt let down"
