"The positives are that the house is big, the fire is fantastic and is very well equipped for large groups, in fact it was probably had some of the largest cooking pans we had ever had in a rented house. It was lovely and warm due to the fire and the main barn are was very sympathetically done and was a great space to eat and socialise. The rooms were comfortable although the beds were simple doubles, a shame as the bedrooms are large and bigger beds would make such a difference. We did have an issue but it was resolved by the Estate manager that day which was vey good. There were a few negatives but nothing that would prevent us from returning. The main issue is the water pressure in the showers which was very poor - everyone had to take it in turns which for a large group was not ideal. Also not every bathroom had a shower and as most people prefer them, bathrooms with them, had to be used my multiple people. The actual design of the house is a little awkward in terms of flow. Due to fact that the cars were generally parked at the back in the courtyard space, when entering the leaving the house the doors into the kitchen were used as the main doors. All the space to keep muddy and in our case, wet boots and jackets however was located by the front door on the other side of the kitchen. A small thing that was just annoying. The sink leaked and the dishwasher stopped working but a plumber was sent out and fixed them on the same day. We did however have a great time despite the weather"

"Really enjoyed our stay last week. Shared the cottage with another family, 4 adults and three children in total. Plenty of room and comfortable. Village is v.quiet and nearest pub, the Nags head was a 5 minute drive on the way to Pontesbury which has a bakery, a co-op which is open 6am-10pm every day, two Chinese’s takeaways and a chip shop.Beds in cottage were comfortable, clean big bathrooms with instant hot water etc. Tv has free view which was a downgrade from sky, but more than adequate for the week. The owner Jayne who lives next door was very friendly as well as her dogs. The village is 5 miles from Shrewsbury which has the usual amenities, bowling, cinema and supermarkets. Also has a museum of local military history in the castle which was worth a visit. One hr south is Rhayader where the red kite feeding station is situated. Again worth a visit to see approx 300-400 wild red kites feeding 50 meters away and only £20 for a family of 4. Also managed a walk up Earls hill which has great views, but not an easy walk. The first few hundred meters were gravel tracks which soon became several hundred meters of very steep banks through the woods, but definitely worth the walk.Planned to go to Snowdon, but too far for children to walk and trains booked way in advance, so if this is on your agenda book in advance.Would We return, definitely. Plenty more to see and do that we could not manage in our week. A very beautiful part of the country which we would contemplate moving to."

"My group thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Windy Mundy Farm, there were just a few issues: there was no hot water or heating in the annex the first morning this was resolved very quickly, we would have found two dishwashers more useful than two washing machines, the bathroom arrangements were a bit of a problem as three had to share the jack and jill bathroom including the person on the mezzanine up the spiral staircase, whilst this is probably ok for family groups for mature adult singletons it is an issue, this would be helped if there was a cloakroom/loo on the ground floor. The mezzanine bedroom is rather inaccessible added to which we could hear rats/mice/squirrels in the rafters! The addition of a shower in the annex bathroom would be useful rather than the shower for the sauna which is rather exposed! We loved the setting and the barn is a beautiful conversation, it suited our requirements and was a great base for our garden visits. I would certainly recommend it to others."

"The lodge was immaculate and well equipped, althought as a keen cook some good knives and a proper chopping board would've been nice. The kitchen is so spacious a dishwasher could also easily be accommodated. Nit picking aside, the lodge itself was great - clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and cosy. The children also liked our neighbours, the sheep and lambs. The location was good, with great views over the valley below, and the outside areas would be lovely in the summer for a BBQ and drink. The only downside was the last few hundred metres of road were unsurfaced, which in a car with relatively low suspension was a bit hairy. In heavy rain or snow access would've been difficult for my car. Overall, my family and I really enjoyed our stay and would like to return in the summer. It's also worth mentioning the owners were very friendly and accommodating."

"If you book Windy Mundy Farm you won't be disappointed. We stayed for New Year 2017 and thought it was an ideal cottage us. It is very clean and perfect for an extended family. Lots of space for all. As mentioned in previous reviews, we thought the room above the spiral staircase was quirky but pleased we didn't have to use as a bedroom. The rest of the bedrooms are clean with good comfy beds. The kitchen is huge with plenty of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. We were able to have breakfast in the kitchen and evening meal round the huge table in the lounge. We were quite warm around the cottage, but found the lounge area to be a bit drafty with the open fire difficult to maintain. If this could be addressed it would be perfect."
