"Generally a comfortable cottage and the owners (next door) were helpful and accommodating. The kitchen was well equipped with nice appliances. The conservatory at the back was a nice addition and the view onto the garden at the back was lovely, as was the excellent gas bbq. There were a few issues though. When we arrived the hoover had been abandoned in the middle of the sitting room, and it became clear that more attention needed to be made to cleaning. The stairs were dusty with cobwebs everywhere and the entry carpet smelled of dog pee. The fridge also had not been properly cleaned. The downstairs double bedroom had no storage for clothes at all, so we had to spend the week living out of our suitcase. The upstairs double bedroom in comparison had quite a lot of storage, though the furniture looks like it has come from the re-cycling centre. All the beds were extremely creaky and squeaky and a lot of the pillows were damp and old. Bedding however was clean and good quality. The cafe nearby was excellent and there was a Tesco supermarket about 5 miles away. The location was great for RavensGlass and the western Lake District and for places like Coniston and Skarfell, but not so good for the main lakes as the half hour drive to get there can become tedious if doing it every day. Generally we had a comfortable stay, which could have been much better if the place had some more TLC from the owners."

"Nicely decorated with lovely welcoming touches, but we had a few problems (and injuries) whilst staying here.Tea, coffee, bread, cake and eggs! Great welcome. Cute little dog bed and bowls (too small for our boy, but lovely all the same. Lots of towels (although nowhere to but them once wet, so stayed damp thoughout out stay.Power fluctuations made wifi a bit hit and miss, but there was a good selection of DVDs to use.The double bedroom has the sloping ceiling right over the sleeping area, and despight being only 5'2" I banged my head and injured over my eye. The hood over the oven is also low and my other half cut his head. We had problems parking outside the house, as the corner spots are very tight and once other people were parked, there wasn't room for us, so we parked on the scrub ground just round the corner. Haverigg itself has lots of mud flats and beach to walk on, so great for dogs, but there wasn't a hose or fenced in area at the house to wash down the dog or let him out for a tinkle. Unfornately the local pubs don't allow dogs. There is a small shop and chip shop, but the limited opening hours means its quick run into Millom to get a few bits and bobs or meal out."

"S18459 is a pretty property in a quiet hamlet. Its location provides easy access to the western lakes and to interesting coastal towns and villages. The cottage is generally comfortable, but the dining chairs could do with replacing as none of them are comfortable to sit on. We used cushions from the settee for padding. The mattress topper is a bit soft and very warm which caused us to wake up every night in a sweat. There was no protector on the topper which was stained. The tea pot is an absolutely hopeless pourer and needs replaced, and there is still a need for a clothes horse--it is the Lake District after all, where are folk meant to hang wet coats etc. to dry after a day in the rain, never mind any washing?Despite these small grumbles, we had a lovely holiday based at S18459. The countryside is beautiful, and there is so much to see and do. We would happily stay there again and recommend the cottage to friends.Thank you for the bottle of wine on arrival. It was much appreciated.P.S. Key safe not very easy to find/access."

"This is without doubt the best accommodation I have stayed at in the Lake District by some distance as well. The accommodation was spotlessly clean warm and cosy, everything you could possibly need was catered for down to some very nice touches, such as some milk in the fridge and cleaning and washing facilities provided for.The area was beautiful, absolutely stunning scenery and only short walk away down to Wastwater lake itself. The location of the accommodation was within easy travelling distance should you want to travel further afield to explore different parts of the Lakes and beyond.Quite simply a wonderful relaxing and very enjoyable week in the Lakes made all the more pleasurable because of the quality of the accommodation, the weather was even good for the most part as well.I returned home very happy with my batteries full recharged.I will certainly book this accommodation again when I am on holidays in the Lake District."

"A lovely first floor apartment, located about a 5 minute walk away from Wastwater. You need to phone the owner for key collection instructions a few days before your holiday. This was very straightforward and the owner is very helpful. The cottage was clean & comfortable, with good parking, excellent wifi, and in a great position to begin a number of walks directly from the door. Unless you plan to eat out at the pubs within driving distance, it’s best to bring all your food with you, but you can pick up provisions in Gosforth 6 miles away if necessary. The small shop on the NT campsite at Wasdale Head (3 miles away) also stocks basic provisions. Great walks up Scafell Pike, Yewbarrow, Whin Rigg, Illgill Head, S24587 and Seatallan, plus walks in the local woodland and on both sides of Wast Water kept us busy all week. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would definitely return."
