"The cottage is in a great location, ideal for the coasatal path and close to Anstruther and St Andrews. On first inspection, everything looked good. A nice big kitchen with separate dining area and also a dining room. The lounge was a good size and the furniture comfy. The bedrooms looked fresh and clean as did the batheroom and shower room. Some areas looked fairly recently done. The garden is a great size and we were lucky with the weather so were able to take full advantage of the outside seating. However, the following points need to be made:Very dirty windows, inside and out (I know there was a bad srorm but they should have been cleaned as it did not look good for clients),cupboard door broken in upstairs bedroom, elecrtic shower in twin bedded room very innadequate, shower hose in bathroom very dirty, skirt left in wardrobe in front bedroom, springs coming through single bed downstaird, single bed against the radiator dangerous, especially if children are in there, widow sills and picture frames dusty, a large quantity of beer bottles left at the bins, two drawers stuck open in kitchen dining area a hazard. However, the location is so great that we would stay agin even though thar single bed(downstairs) was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Time to renew the mattress?"

"A lovely place to stay if you want total peace and quiet! It's a lovely cottage, very well equipped - the kitchen is large and has everything you could want. The woodburner is effective - the central heating is run from it, so you do need to keep it going if it's chilly. The bed is very comfortable and sleeping in total silence is a real treat. Web didn't use the sofa bed as a bed, but as a sofa it's perfect for curling up in front of the fire. We didn't use the games in the cupboard but there are loads of them! The lovely owners live next door and are very helpful, but will leave you to enjoy the peace without interruption. Dog owners - no dogs on the furniture (fair enough) and be aware that the garden is shared, so you're asked not to exercise dogs there. There are loads of nearby walks, beaches and quiet country lanes, so this really isn't a problem. You're asked to remove pet hair etc before you leave (again, that's fair enough) but with mostly hard flooring and a good Dyson, that was a ten-minute whip round. If muddy paws need a wash after a walk, there's a mop bucket and an outside tap - there are dog towels supplied too!Ruthwell Church with its stunning 8th Century Cross is an easy 10 minute walk along the lane."

"Our 3rd visit to Island View,,this time however we were disappointed in the cleanliness of the kitchen worktops, sink, doors and floors. The Ladies had to do some cleaning before our relaxing weekend could start. Log burner in back lounge hadn't been cleaned out from previous occupant either,,,being a weekend of mild weather we didn't need to use it. Clothes also left in drawer from previous occupant and t-shirt found behind bed in same bedroom. We did contact Alan the owner who said he would sort out a gift voucher for us for local pub as way of compensation,,,sadly he never carried this out and also never bothered to reply to last message we sent him. The 4 couples won't let this put them off and will probably return again next year....as a paying customer it is nice to be acknowledged and sadly we feel our concerns re the cleanliness were not taken seriously on this occasion."

"We were a combined family of 8 visiting and had a lovely stay. The house is in a lovely setting and is huge. There is pleanty of room in the house even with 8 people for everyone to have space, the hot tub and sauna were a really nice addition. Some minor things to point out that didnt spoil our holiday: there was food in the freezer and cupboards, from previous holiday makers which i think should have been removed. We were told there would be water test strips for the hot tub but this was empty. we were told that some would be delivered ASAP but these did not arrive during our holiday. We did try and make contact with the owner via text but unfortunatley he did not get back to me.We would definitley stay here again"

"We stayed in Kannier Cottage for a week in August. Our group consisted of 5 yo twins, my husband and I, our dog and my Dad. The layout of the house suited us perfectly house with everyone having their own room, Dad having an en suite and the huge, enclosed garden being spot on for the dog and children. The seaview from the first floor lounge is stunning and the decor throughout is fresh and simple. Kitchen was fantastically stocked and there was a breakfast table and separate dining room!It was spacious, clean, well-equipped and superbly located literally 5 mins walk to the shingley beach. We had the most fantastic stay here - we didn’t want to come home!I loved Kannier and St Monans and can’t wait to return."
