"The approach was a very oppressive and claustrophobic lane, appropriately named Dark Lane. The driveway was perilously difficult to manoeuvre and worrying in wet weather. The cottage is not a cottage at all, it is a small sliver of a large house; there are internal doors leading from the hall way, the kitchen and the landing, just locked - which felt very unfriendly, like you are sequestered in a part of a house and excluded and unwelcome in some areas. You could easily hear talking the other side of the doors which was unsettling and intrusive . The 'cottage' downstairs was uncomfortably tiny, the black rug which took up most of the floor space, sucked the light out of the room and it was very oppressive. The only nice thing was the bedroom, that was light and airy and nicely spacious. Overall, this place felt like something squeezed together purely to make money from a large house. The shower was tiny and very restricted; the glass door on the shower room afforded no privacy from the landing and people walking past the shower room. The garden contained estate species trees which had grown so enormous that there was no light or sunshine penetrating the whole area. It was a very gloomy and depressing visit and we went home early for business reasons but we very glad to be going home."

"We loved the house and the location but unfortunately we felt the cleanliness of the house was poor. There was an awful smell on the stair carpet midway (outside the bathroom) which we believe could have been removed with professional cleaning, also as you enter the kitchen and the shower room.Coming down the steps to the house from the main road in the evening can be quite dangerous as there is no lighting. In the bathroom downstairs, the electric shower was also dangerous and water was pouring from the back of the unit near the electrics and there was a double socket in there for the washing machine. The security of the house is also questionable as there is only one lock on the front door (easily broken into) and the back door didn't lock although there was a chain on the conservatory doors but not a lock. One of the double beds was in poor condition, possibly broken in the middle and the settee in the lounge was also visibly broken at the end. However, this didn't spoil our holiday as the house does have plenty of room and easily accommodates 10 people and the views from the house are lovely. We all felt that a small amount of money spent on the house and security would be well worth it and we would consider renting again if all those problems were dealt with."

"We thought the house had so much character and was perfect for our stay! We like houses that are old but modernised which is what this was!! Great decor and space and we loved the balcony and conservatory. Only criticism we have is that we were a bit put about by the fact that the men downstairs could access our whole house and if they did anything then we would be accountable. So we set a trick with a tiny piece of paper so if the door was turned then we would know. I think you should have a Yale lock on there so guests can decide if downstairs can come up or not. Also one shower for all those guests isn't enough. Put one over the bath. We had an amazing walk to Teignmouth though along the high wall and and a meal at Dairy Maid was beautiful, especially the seafood platter! Well recommend!!! Thank you for an amazing stay!!! The balcony as well is a right sun trap!!!"

"The Coach House is in a great location, you can walk into eiher Dawlish or Teinmouth, some great little pubs near by.It has a washing machine, dryer, range cooker, american stlye fridge/freezer an great on suite to the one bedroom and a extra large bath.Has a great litle conserverty and balcony to sit out/in there is also a log burner in the front room for cosy night in.Areas for improvement....WIFI didnt work the whole holiday it didnt seem to be conected, not enough sits/sofas the sofa's there were not very comfortable and you could fit bigger ones in.The snug room is just empty this could be a great room just needs some sofa's and chairs could even have an extra tv in there.Could do with putting a gate at the top of the stairs of the balcony for children.Don't let these this last part put you off though there only areas that can make it better than it is already!"

"This property is all about location and space and this was our second visit. You never feel cramped staying here as most of the rooms are large with big windows. There are some pleasant sea front walks on your doorstep and plenty of pubs/cafe's in Dawlish. Unfortunately, the cottage does needs some repairs and is very mush a "work in progress" property - water leaks into the living room and conservatory were experienced (but the owner knows and will repair off-season) and some of the rooms do need a make-over or re-decoration. The living room smells of damp dog but we bought some scented candles and this removed the problem. The only shower is on the ground floor past the kitchen - mildly inconvenient but of course, having stayed before, we knew this - perhaps a power shower in the bathroom would help?"
