"A lovely base to stay and for dog walks. Good size living areas downstairs and a big kitchen. Two large size double bedrooms and two single rooms (not used) Two Sky boxes in the downstairs rooms to cover most of the basic channels you'll need. Property mainly let down but the poor parking. Driveway is totally useless, too small and needs to be much wider. We only managed to park safely on the road outside of the property from the Mon-Thurs. (Billed as two car spaces well only if you have micro cars. Front room sofa and one chair totally in need of replacing / or putting in more support very uncomfortable. For anyone with mobility issues large front step and back. No downstairs toilet but two upstairs. Microwave didn't work and reported Sat replaced with another old one Monday which helped a lot as the oven / hob was awful to use.Two hook hangers in the hall (both only fit to hang dog leads on as loose) some hooks under the stairs for coats but door to this area had a small catch so not ideal to use often. Back garden good size although three fence panels were in need of repair, garden overgrown and needed work.Hot Tub nice but very noisy and some jets not working, would be better enclosed in a Conservatory to reduce noise and heat lost. Overall we loved the base and the property with a bit of work could easily be made up to a 10 in no time, it seemed a tired property awaiting an upgrade but we still loved it as did the dogs. Off road parking / driveway needs to be wider is the urgent task and front room sofa replaced. Guests won't like the cooker oven/hob (takes ages to cook anything) and the place needs a better microwave (although the one brought in Mon got us by) and definately needs a stand alone mini oven."

"We did not use the property as a holiday accommodation as such, it was used as a convenient place to stay while we are attending a special event. (As this was a one-off this is the reason we do not intend to return). We also visited friends and relatives while we were in the area. It was particularly useful because we have a small dog and it's quite difficult to find places that will accept them.It has a pleasant outlook at the back of the house where you can watch sailing boats going back and forth. The property is spacious with plenty of cupboard space in the kitchen and especially the front bedroom. The bathroom has a shower which has a decent flow, especially for an electric one.At the rear of the house there is a wide conservatory that doubles as the dining room with pleasant views as you're eating. However there were a few niggles. Even with the brightness turn to maximum the flatscreen TV has a dark picture. The conservatory at the back has only one working opening window, the other one has a note on it that is not be used, it gets extremely hot in there when the sun shines in a short space of time. DO NOT, whatever you do, contemplate leaving a dog in their with the door shut, even with the window open!I could not get in through the front door, I could only get out. If the side door was locked and went out through the unlocked front door but left the keys inside you would not be able to back into the house.Apart from these issues I would recommend the place as it is very clean and spacious with a wide selection of DVDs to entertain adults and children if the weather is not behaving itself in. There is also good-sized strip of grass across the back for children to play on."

"What a fantastic place this is. We've just returned from our week away and it was honestly such a wonderful break, its made us question our life choices and whether we can move there! S18095 is gorgeous. Its well laid out and has everything you could need for a break. Its fitted out to a really high standard and felt like home. I loved the array of interesting books too, which I thought was a nice home from home touch. The kitchen is well equipped and the washing machine was a huge bonus. I know most people don't wash clothes on holiday, but a stray spoonful of food threatened to ruin my top so it was a blessing to deal with it quickly. The shops are limited here, but we loved that. A week away from endless commercialism! You can still find those all important holiday gifts though. It was a pleasure to park up and leave the car for most of the week as you can walk to everything. We took a ride out one evening to East Mersea, but for the rest of the time it stayed parked. The Fish restaurants are amazing and recommended, as is the Black Pearl Café for an early morning bacon roll. We watched tides roll in and roll out again and time slowed down. Monkey Beach is very pretty and really worth the short walk. Everywhere was so welcoming to our Jack Russell dog and it was all very restful. S18095 without doubt added to the whole experience and we can't wait to rebook. The Visitors book was brimming with positive comments and we could see why."

"The property was well equipped, clean and tidy if a little dated. The views over the estuary were lovely and changed on a daily basis with various sea craft passing by. The visitors book said you could swim in the estuary but I certainly wouldn't want to. It was muddy and stank of seaweed. However, the beach is well worth a visit when the tide is out as there were lots of different types of seabirds to see. Unfortunately, that's where it ended for us.The beds were comfortable but same can't be said about the chairs in the living room. The sofa was ok but the armchairs are the most uncomfortable chairs we have sat on.I find it hard to believe that not one person has mentioned the very noisy road at the front of the property. The road is made of concrete slabs, the same you find on motorways with enhanced tyre noise to match. Every time a car went over the joins there was a bump, bump. The road led down to a large caravan park approximately 50m down the road so the noise was constant. The rear garden was split in two by a public footpath so there was no privacy when sitting at the table in the garden as people were walking past constantly. It was really annoying to be woken by people stopping to talk about Fido early in the morning. The last straw was a group of young girls screeching at the top of their voices (probably on the beach) in the early hours of the Thursday morning. We came home a day early and won't be staying again."

"This is a lovely cottage and we had a very good holiday. Being close to the beach, the local shops and cafes was a bonus. There is no parking on the road outside but we appreciated the owner's offer to park outside her shop to unload and overnight However we found the library carpark nearby was adequate for our needs. The bed was very comfortable with good reading lights and the house was very clean and tidy with nice furniture from the owner's shop. There were lots of nice touches in the property e.g. tissues in the bedroom, sewing kit, picnic basket and nice fluffy towels which is always welcome. There were a couple of negatives however which I only mention because it would enhance the property even more if this was rectified. The weather was very hot and so we wanted to spend time out on the patio at the back. We did find this a bit untidy with fallen leaves, cobwebs and an uneven floor with some furniture that had seen better days. The flower border could also have been planted to enhance this area. As the gate of the cottage went straight into the road perhaps a lock on the gate for young children staying may be an idea. The TV was small and so we had to move it forward each night to see it. (This seems to be a problem in many cottages we have stayed in!)We thoroughly enjoyed our stay however and would definitely go back again."
