"What a wonderfully impressive house, beautifully inside and out.Something for everyone, with large bedrooms, a great fully-equipped kitchen, separate large seating areas and games room. The property had plenty of towels and little other extras, such as toiletries which is an added bonus but not mentioned on the website. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, meeting our needs perfectly and I would use again in a heartbeat. The photos online do not do it justice as the rooms are much bigger than they look and the house even more outstanding in the flesh.A couple of small negatives that others should consider is that 2 bedrooms are joined and you have to go through another to use the bathroom making it difficult with 9 adults sharing the house who all wanted their privacy. Before arriving our party argued over the beautiful large bedroom with balcony but then decided against once they realised it was connected to another. We didn’t realise this when looking at the photos or see in the description unfortunately, which left my elderly mother using a child’s single bed downstairs instead of the intended double bed with ajoining bathroom. The busy main road, whilst quiet once windows and doors were shut was a disappointment and left nowhere to walk from the property with our dog or walk in general without having to drive instead. We took 3 cars to the property and found that our more nervous driver found turning right from the property or right into it very scary, especially when there was heavy daytime traffic on the dual carriageway.I would recommend to anyone who knew the small downsides and it’s a perfect holiday home, which we’d all like to own."

"The Coal House barn is modern, comfortable, clean and very well equipped. The barn has a powershower, two bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a large kitchen/diner, WiFi, log burner, tv's in the living room and bedrooms. There is a unfenced sitting area at the front and a private garden with hot-tub and raised wooden fencing at the back (next to the kitchen) so you can allow your dog outside without worrying. The location of the barn is down a country lane a couple of miles outside Kidwelly, so if you want peace and quiet then this is a good place to stay. The owners also let out two other barns and four cottages within the grounds. Plus they have a large caravan park further down the site. There is a large field and parking next to the barns. The area next to the coal house is maintained to a high standard and from comments in the guest book it feels like the owners are still spending money to improve the facilities as the hot-tub and fencing is fairly new. We didn't meet the owners, during our mini break as we didn't need any assistance. To be honest, we prefer that as we have stayed at cottages with owners on the site and it felt as if you had to make an effect everytime you saw them, so you can't relax in the same way. We have stayed at numerous cottages over the last 15years and we would be happy to book the coal house again."

"The location the cottage the homeliness of it all was lovely apart from the fact the WiFi and the heating and hot water didn’t work. The heating was hard to work and wasn’t working at all which effected our time in the hot tub as it was too coldTo come back into the cottage, the hot tub was one of the main reasons we booked it and didn’t get to use it as we liked to. Was meant to be under floor heating but didn’t feel any benfit by it It also made us uncomfortable we lit the cooker to get heat in the kitchen. Had three mobile numbers to call of the owners of there was problems only one answered, the man was lovely but he didn’t have a clue how to work the heating which was really unhelpful. He just said sorry. The hot water was a bit clicking has to fiddle about a lot with the monitor to get it working. Was really dissipointed as we paid good money to stay there and not as much as a slight refund or anything back. Was a lovely place just bad facilities when it came to the heating and water and WiFi :( was sad about it! :( :("

"Great area for exploring the sandy beaches of SW Wales. The staff at the hotel (who run the cottage) are very friendly. The cottage advert left us assuming the swimming pool was at the cottages - it isn't - it's over half a mile away down a lane I thought was unsafe to walk along due to it being so narrow and having no footpath. Once there the pool is lovely. In today's connected world I would have expected wifi and mobile connectivity as a must have, especially considering the overall price of the rental. A minor issue was the crockery and cutlery - looks like mismatched leftovers from the hotel. Again with the price being paid, I would have expected a nice matching set for the number of guests. There was a note left on the window sill telling us about the welcome nibble and tipple, nice touch except there was no tipple, only a pack of welshcakes. What could have been a nice touch backfired. The settees has seen better days and ought to b replaced. Overall it's a nice cottage and these minor issues will not stop me returning."

"The cottage has potential but there are issues. The kitchen needed a good clean before use. There is no WiFi which should be the norm for this type of rental. The washing machine is in an outbuilding next to the sit on lawnmower and we did not chance it's use. The TV was on the small side. Heating was difficult to fathom, either too hot or too cold. Mobile reception is non existent so lack of internet is really felt. The cottage is owned by the local hotel, when checking in the receptionist did not know which keys to issue or where the property was. You have use of the hotel gym and pool, unfortunately the hotel does not seem to open over Christmas, when we did see the facilities they were in a poor state of repair. They area is great with some good walks, country parks and great beaches."
