"We had a splendid holiday in a wonderful cottage which seemed a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and yet the M40 is very near and we were able to visit Oxford, Banbury, Bicester Village, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water and and the Cotswolds Wildlife Park near Burford with ease. This is a huge L-shaped cottage, the original part thatched with a very cottagey, rose strewn brick chocolate box front, a beautiful conservatory and a great barn like sitting room attaching to what must have been stables forming an annexe with bathroom, bedrooms and utility room. Upstairs is the most comfortable massive bed plus a further bedroom and bathroom. So spacious with everything you could want. It felt as if the owner had just moved out for the week and left the place for friends to come and stay as there were lots of personal items on show in the office and small sitting room and a huge amount of books so it felt like home rather than a holiday let. The garden is lovely with a big table if you want to eat outside. Down the road is The Muddy Duck pub. We had a fabulous time and the weather was kind. Radios, DVD player and wall-mounted television made family evenings great fun as there are games scattered around too. A really memorable holiday and most helpful caretaker in Rebecca."

"Disappointing .....We have stayed at many self catering holiday homes, our initial impression was that hospitality was not up to the normal standards. We recommend the owners review their welcoming....A bottle of wine, some local produce, bread, butter and sometimes we have had local jams.We got 2 slices of very tasty cake...good.....a few packets of tea coffee and drinking chocolate. Milk....And a bowl of fruit...that was it.No toiletries ...most unusual....Not a flower in the place....I also considered the tone of what to do before you leave a little condescending Plus I have never stayed anywhere I have had to strip the beds.I recommend our hosts do more homework and go and experience an excellent holiday rental. The paintwork particularly around the Windows needed attention. The entrance porch had not been swept for a long time...neither had the back porch.Apart from that it was fine...."

"Completely appropriate for our needs as had three older people who were able to take advantage of the downstairs bedrooms and bathroom/toilets whilst my brother and I had our own space upstairs. Fabulous cottage and great local pub which was fully booked for dinner so went to the White Horse in Kings Sutton on the Muddy Ducks recommendation. Amazing taster menu at the Chefs Table. Good value and amazing food which was a great experience for all. The only downside was the lack of local taxi's for 5 people so decided to drive and get a cab back which worked out well in the end as the WH managed to book a cab for all of us. Would've happily gone to the Muddy Duck as it had a great atmosphere with locals enjoying food and drink. Note - need to book early to avoid disappointment. Would definitely recommend the cottage, location and pub if you want to get away from it all."

"Charming cottage in a wonderful location. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped with appealing furnishing. Although ‘in the middle of nowhere’ being a National Trust property there is the benefit of a house to visit, a café across the Courtyard and wonderful grounds to walk in. Extremely peaceful after hours. We found a good choice of dog friendly pubs to eat in and an invaluable co-op in a nearby village. There are several art and craft studios to tempt you to part with your money and even courses to attend ( which was the purpose of our stay and excellent ). Beware of enormous potholes in roads nearby. The worst I’ve seen anywhere. I’d recommend this cottage and have already booked again so that I can attend another art course in this very special setting!"

"Pye Cottage was more than we expected (and I have high standards!) It truly was a home from home. The cottage was perfect for my mum who has limited mobility and my young daughters also loved it The cottage catered for everyone, there were books, DVDs, magazines, board games and a box of toys for little ones too!The driveway is a little snug for getting up, but once up there is enough space for two carsThe beds were comfy and the cottage was furnished to a high quality throughout, no attention to detail was spared when designing the lovely interior.A wonderful cake, fresh flowers and wine with other goodies also were awaiting our arrival which was indeed a wonderful touchThe owners of the property were fantastic hosts and we are looking forward to returning!"
