"This is a rural hideaway cottage, which reflects the eco-friendly aspirations of the owner, and has French windows opening onto a large area of private woodland, awash with bluebells (May) and birdlife. We were given a warm and friendly welcome and told that, if we needed anything, we just needed to knock at the door. There are no shops or pubs in the immediate vicinity, but there is a farm shop 10 minutes' drive away and an excellent pub in the picturesque (and much filmed) village of Chilham also about 10 minutes' drive away - we did walk to Chilham through lovely country lanes, but you need to set aside a couple of hours for that. It was a great base from which to explore Kent (there were plenty of relevant maps, books and brochures in the cottage) - our favourite places being Canterbury and its lovely cathedral, Whitstable and Faversham, plus the National Trust properties at Chartwell, Sissinghurst Castle and the White Cliffs of Dover. If you enjoy country lanes, landscape and nature, then this makes for a very convenient and homely base with adequate kitchen and bathroom facilities - and a very comfortable bed!"

"Having been away from Canterbury for many years my partner and I wanted to visit and with out little Jack Russell in tow we were looking for a place where we could lock the door and not worry about her. We found it with S88474...this is a wonderful little house located just outside the city walls of Canterbury. Just a few minutes walk and you are at in the city center with all the history, restaurants and shopping the city has to offer. A wood burner and period features make this place very cozy. 'Queenie' (the Jack Russell) was made very welcome with bowls and some treats. Tea and coffee was awaiting us....all in all a wonderful and magical place. So much so that we have stayed twice now and will be re-booking again for our next Canterbury trip.....this feels like a home from home. One point of note for people booking from North America, this is a small house. A great alternative to a hotel, but do not think a large house. Book for a couple (and dog), but not for a family.....that said I refer to my previous comments and this place will not disappoint. "

"Lovely rural location with large enclosed garden - ideal for walks and relaxing. Great place for a base if you want peace/quiet. Pub & local shop within walking distance. S13577 was clean and comfortable but don't forget your towels as they are not included. The carpeted stairs were a little steep and narrower than the average - fine for able bodied/kids. There was a ramp for wheelchair access through double doors and a twin bedroom downstairs. The downstairs cloakroom housed toilet, sink & bath. The walk in shower is upstairs together with bath & toilet - plus two spacious bedrooms (twin & double). I went with friends and dogs - perfect for what we wanted - but was also checking out for disabled - downstairs was spacious and perfect if you can climb into the bath - sadly the person I had in mind requires a walk in shower but would not have been unable to get up/down the stairs."

"This cottage is spectacular in decor and location, and for the friendliness of its owner Steve - who forgave us breaking his lovely flower holder (we managed to stick it back together again so hopefully no one notices). The location is amazing with great countryside all around a lovely small village close by, a great pub up the road and plenty to do for day trips. We were there in bitter winter conditions at the beginning of February but we still had an amazing time with the wood-burning stove and a good video or two. The cottage is so well furnished and designed that I wanted to copy all the ideas in it. Stay here if you want to be in the countryside surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful things. You will love it."

"The cottage is in a perfect position, close to the beach and the high street, yet far enough back to be quiet. The cottage is beautifully decorated, yet I fear there is a degree of style over substance. The red sofa in the dining room is very uncomfortable and hence we never sat on it after the first go. The chairs in the living room are equally not the most comfortable. The lack of a dishwasher is a real shame, especially if you come with children (which the cottage is otherwise well set up for). I know space is tight but as someone who stays in many cottages this is a real down side. The drainage needs sorting. The fact that the green waste floods the path and then street is embarrassing and unpleasant to walk in."
